Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-24 Thread alciregi
Hello.
Testing Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-31-20190824.n.0.iso

Issues described in the first mail are now solved.
Installed successfully, initial setup works now. Timezone stuff works
in GNOME settings as well from command line. Clicking on Activities (or
using Super keystroke), the focus goes to the search bar correctly.

Only two observations:
- once completed the initial setup, in the "ready to go" screen there
is not the big check mark at the center of the screen (or am I
remembering it wrong?)
https://alciregi.fedorapeople.org/screenshot/startusingfedora.png
- there is some problem with NTP: in GNOME settings Automatic Date &
Time isn't available
https://alciregi.fedorapeople.org/screenshot/ntp.png, and in
addition, issuing "sudo timedatectl set-ntp true" returns "Failed to
set ntp: No NTP unit available"
Looking at system logs, I can see that it is something related to
SELinux:

It's easy enough to check - just boot with 'enforcing=0'.

Hello Dave.
Probably somebody more expert than me will answer to your introduction
and will sponsor your request to join the QA FAS group as soon as
possible, in the meanwhile: welcome!

You don't need to wait for a test day in order to start to contribute!

You can start by testing updates in [http://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/]
for Fedora 29 and Fedora 30. Update testing is where a tester tests a
package and gives out a +1 Karma for PASS and -1 Karma for FAIL.
You can read more about update testing here:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing

Happy testing!
Bye,
A.

Silvia, Adam is right. I didn't test newest F31 composes since the report.
But by disabling selinux, these issues had gone.

What I saw related to timezone is in this screenshot:
https://alciregi.fedorapeople.org/screenshot/timezone.png
So the option to select the time zone was not grayed out, but the
subsequent list was empty. (This was with selinux enabled).

I think you are talking about another issue.
BTW timezone option is correctly grayed out if you turn automatic timezone
on.

A.

2019-08-24 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Adam,

You sent the same link twice.
I'm not sure is that about SELinux. They didn't see any SELinux alert, but
the option, tab or whatever it is called in Gnome for changing timezones
was greyed out. Even after unlocking it, it was impossible to choose
because it remained greyed/disabled.

Lailah

Nothing. The kernel team's concern is not related to this bug or the
handling of this bug in any way. The only relevance of the bug is that
it alerted the kernel team to the fact that we currently block on
btrfs, which they think we should not.

You're misunderstanding here. It's not the fact that a bug showed up
which caused the concern.

That was likely a consequence of:

And that may be a related issue:

Re: Testing Workstation

2019-08-24 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hi all,

I saw someone in the Fedora group in Telegram with similar problems. One
was that he or she (I can't remember) couldn't setup timezones unless doing
some sort of weird of workaround. And when travelling had to do the same
every time the timezone changed. The other was that the initial setup
didn't start and they had no admin password.

Cheerio,
Lailah
