Re: [TeX-music] musixpss ver.0.50 is now available

2003-01-09 Thread Hiroaki MORIMOTO
Hello Cataldi again,

Today I found remaining old teTeX tree with pdfTeX 3.14159-
1.00a-pretest-20010806 (Web2C 7.3.3) in my another machine.
So I retrieved the tree and carried out some tests.

Result: The suspect is the version of supp-pdf.tex.

I can reproduce the %%EOF error with supp-pdf.tex signed at the header as
version=2000.10.14.
On the other hand, replacing supp-pdf.tex into version=2001.07.27
extinguishes the error.
This occurs in both cases with pdfTeX 1.00a-pretest-20010806 (Web2C 7.3.3)
and with pdfTeX 1.10a-betax-20021125 (Web2C 7.3.11).
So pdfTeX version might have no relation with this error.

The reason of the error is still unclear.

Anyway, I suggest you to get the latest supp-pdf.tex and supp-mis.tex
from tug site http://www.tug.org/applications/pdftex/ and place them
into the working score exists.
This will possibly enable you to use musixpss on your current
pdfTeX 1.00c-pretest-20020426 (MiKTeX 2.2).
(of course I can't guarantee this.)
and please ignore the test code I posted yesterday.

BTW I have several supp-pdf.tex; they are bit by bit different
one another.
The file taken from tug site today is signed as version=2001.07.27
in header, and it seems much newer than the one, version=2000.10.14,
taken from a CTAN today. These are free from the %%EOF error.

The file I use today to reproduce the error is also signed as
version=2000.10.14, but the body is slightly different from CTAN's.
I think your supp-pdf.tex signed as 2000.04.28 contains the same bug.

My using one version=2001.07.27 seems more newer than tug's;
possibly mine is a beta-release...?

...I'm confused very much.
How loose the version administration is!

Best regards,

Hello Cataldi,

 - MikTeX 2.2 under windows 98
 - MetaPost version: 0.641
 - pdfTeX Version 3.14159-1.00c-pretest-20020426 (MiKTeX 2.2)
 - supp-pdf.tex: 2000.04.28
 - supp-mis.tex: 2000.03.31

Mm... I'm in confusion. Let me compose myself.

(1) [pdftex] I had lost the files of pdfTeX 1.00c-pretest-20020426,
and now it has already disappeared from sites.
So I can't reproduct your error; I only can search past infomations.
The W32TeX distribution change log by A. Kakuto says:
there is a bug in supp-pdf.tex.
supp-pdf.tex and supp-mis.tex is replaced to latest ones.
there is a minor update in pdfTeX.
in many times, around those time from 2002/04/27 (release of 1.00c-
pretest-20020426) to 2002/08/18.
1.10a-devel was first released on 2002/07/13 but was sometimes changed
until 2002/09/07 with same version signature.

(2) [supp-pdf.tex, supp-mis.tex] I suppose your report means the
time stamp of the file; while mine meant the strings in the header of
the two files.
My supp-pdf.tex and supp-mis.tex has the time stamp 2002/08/16.
Which is the truth? ...Perhaps the header and its date signature
have not been rewrited. ---(1) change log.

(3) [MetaPost] This is the same of mine; the only public
version. --- MetaPost website.

(4) [Distribution] MikTeX for win32 is not available in Japan,
but I suppose the difference from teTeX must be not serious problem.

Overall of these 4 points, I guess the suspect is the version
of pdfTeX, supp-pdf, supp-mis .
I had heard there was drastic change about embedding figures
between 1.00c-pretest-** and 1.10a-devel-**.

The attached file contains simplified test routines and my resulting
log and PDF.
Would you please trying pdftex pdfstest.tex and sending the results
to me in case it fails? Perhaps it fails with your current pdfTeX.
Thus, all I can do is to hope latest MikTeX with pdfTeX 1.10a (if
available such thing) will enable you to use musixpss in pdfTeX mode.

Sorry for my unskillful response.
Best regards,

I've tested the new version of musixpss. All is OK in general and dvips
mode, but in pdftex exclusive mode I have an error in the pdf file: near
the end of any slur there is the writing %%EOF.

Where did I go Wrong? In the installation?

[TeX-music] musixpss ver.0.50 is now available

2003-01-06 Thread Hiroaki MORIMOTO
Dear all,

Last night (JST) I released musixpss version 0.50 official release.
(Don found this just on the day!)

http://homepage1.nifty.com/kuuku/notation/musixpss-0.50.tar.gz

I have not got any problem reports about the preview-release2
since 2002/10/14, so official release is functionally equal to it.
(some small fixes was done.)

There is some new features and replaced commands from ver.0.41.
* Slur thickness adjustment.
* pdfTeX (ver.1.10a-devel) compatible
* Operation mode selection command is changed.
* Switching EPS-based slurs and font-based slurs at any place
* Support program: cleaning intermediate EPS files

It seems musixpss ver.0.50 can work on T.111 too, at first impression.
(I'm going to do more test.)

Comments, suggestions, bug reports, etc. are welcome.
Best regards,
