Some interesting concepts here. What is an entiry? And mocifying sounds
intriguing. What does that do to light, exactly? Can we do that to non-LED
light? :-)

And NPR makes a LOT of its stuff available directly; also KUT.ORG in
Austin makes a lot of local music availalbe that way (has npr links,
too). All podcast, all the time!

David, and others,
You *can* download spanish educational materials to your iPod, and
it is free. If you go to the iTunes website, or use the 'store'
feature in iTunes, you can access the iPod directory, and look in
the education category. There are several. You can download
individual episodes, or subscribe to a podcast using the iTunes
software, which is free. Try the search function, and include the
word "podcast", or just browse through the podcast directory by
category. The trick is to hit "view all" and not the just the most
popular or staff favorites. Many of the podcasts will be video, and
they don't exactly differentiate. I can't use video on my iPod. I
listen to This Week In Science, which Ms. Tomchick turned me onto -
twice a week now! I love that darn show. I listen to podcasts all
the time from my iTunes software on my computer at work at my desk.
This American Life, Marketplace, Mysterious Universe, Sierra Club
Radio, Innoculated Mind, They Might be Giants, and Barak Obama's

occasional podcasts are my favorite. All free! check it out

I can also download my calendar (iCal) to my iPod.

Lots of Universities (including medical schools) are supplying taped
lectures as MP3 files for students, suitable for use with any MP3
player.

Several museums around the world are also publishing MP3 guides to
their collections. You can download the files before you visit.

I predict that soon there will be a monthly caving podcast available
for free download. It might even originate from Texas.

[Texascavers] OT - hybrid car news

2007-06-06 Thread David Locklear

http://www.mitfuso.com/pages/news-hevconcept.html

Honda has discontinued the Accord Hybrid. Maybe it will be easier
to find those cheaper now?Or will they become a collector's item,
and the price will go up?

I think Honda gave up too early on their hybrid design for the Accord,
or at least they didn't market it effectively.

For example, they could have easily come out with an Accord Station-wagon.
That would have had little competition.Or they could have made something
like an "El Camino," - half-car & half-truck. Or how about a convertible?
Or how about making the body more sporty looking.I am sure they considered
something, but it must have seemed to risky.

Either way, it got the worst mileage of all the hybrids and was more
expensive than the other hybrid-sedans. In my view, someone
willing to spend $ 33,000 on a vehicle, is not going to buy an Accord,
even if it has all the modern features.I am curious if the Lexus
sedans will meet the same fate in 2 years.

General Motors announced today that they have awarded contracts to 2 lithium-ion
battery companies, and hope to have a hybrid on the market in 3 years. One
of those companies is in Troy, Michigan.

Does the word sources make lights acceptable?

Here's some info I found at their website, Geary:

Can I go into any wild cave that I want?
Caving is permitted in the following: Junction Cave, Xenolith Cave, Four
Windows Cave and Big Skylight Cave. Braided Cave is closed from May -
September to protect a bat species of concern. You will need to bring
your own equipment to explore these caves: hard hat, leather gloves,
three non-heat producing sources of lights, layered clothing, and wear
sturdy hiking boots.

Entry into all other caves requires a permit well in advance of your
visit. Contact monument headquarters at (505)285-4641 for more
information on obtaining permits.

Email me, as well, as we've been interested in going there.

Better yet, post it here, as gas mileage talk and above
ground/underground caves talk seems to have run its course.

Later,
