Greetings Cavers,

The Association for Mexican Cave Studies is pleased to note, that
this will be the 45th year that we will be selling AMCS Publications
at the NSS Convention. It all began at the 1965 Bloomington
Convention, with the debut of Volume I Number 1 of the AMCS Newsletter.

Our goal is to keep all the old publications in print, and continue
to create new. Please drop by our room in Kerrville.

[Texascavers] ICS Projector help in Austin

2009-07-10 Thread Rick Corbell

All,

I just got word of a donation that will save us money and give us a couple of
top of the line projectors for the Photo Salon and Banquets. The hitch is,
they won't be available until the 20th or 21st and must be picked up from a
house in zip code 78733 on Creeks Edge Parkway (this is near 71 and 2244).
They must be returned on Monday the 27th. If you will be in the area on Monday
or Tuesday and headed for Kerrville and can spare the time, please let me know.
The projectors are needed in Kerrville no later than early Wednesday morning
(9:00 A. M.).

If you are planning on bringing a back-up projector per my earlier pleading,
please bring what you can, in addition to the above.

Rick Corbell-ICS A/V coordinator cell-210-313-6084

My mistake. The racquetball courts at Shreiner Univ. will not be available to
us. Therefore, I will not
be bringing ranquets to loan people.

I use ATT and have good service in Kerrville and at the campus, but not 3G.

I can't speak to the other companies, but know of no problems. All seem to work.

Per George, and I concur, ATT EDGE only (2g not 3g) coverage, but its
quite acceptable.

I can't speak for the other companies either.

I did some testing today of the wireless coverage on campus from the
provided facilities of the university. The quiet campground has a bit
of coverage, the closer to the buildings that you get the better. The
loud campground had no signal at all, but moving close to the Moody
building gave a good signal (as close as the street from the covered
pavilion).

Almost all of the buildings have wireless coverage and of course it
bleeds out some, and there are a few places on campus where you can
get between 2 or 3 buildings and have excellent signal.

One note, the Gym does not have wireless at this time, their equipment
has failed there.

If anyone has questions, please let me know.

I was in Kerrville at the end of May, and yes - Verizon has good cellular
service there. I am talking about VOICE service, not 3G service. Don't remember
if there was good EVDO coverage or not. If you go south of town, Verizon
coverage is spotty.

[Texascavers] Saturday ICS work question

2009-07-10 Thread David
There is a chance I can make it to the campus
around 5 pm on Saturday the 11th ( tomorrow ).

Can anybody give me an idea what kind of work projects
are going on Saturday Evening, Sunday, or even Monday?

That way I can bring some extra tools, or something
that might come in handy, like a saw-horse,
drills, hammers, step-ladder, etc.

Also,

I have rented a small storage unit a few blocks west of the
campground.I will be putting my stuff there for a month or
2.I will have some extra space if any
body needs to do the same. E-mail me privately
on that. ( When I say stuff, I mean tarps for shade, bicycle,
folding tables, ice-chest, spare gear, caving gear, tools,
consignment items, auction items, canned food,
lots of camping gear, etc. )

I hope to leave Arcola for Kerrville at lunch-time on Saturday.

I am fairly certain I will be working at the Howdy Party.I don't know
about the rest of ICS yet.
