I might be behind the times on this but this was brought to my attention today.
Looks like the efforts put forth by the BLM that most cavers disagreed with
were still not enough for the Center for Biological Diversity. Their website
also specifically sites BLM's unwillingness to institute a blanket closure.

[Texascavers] CAVING VEHICLE

2011-05-27 Thread Fritz Holt
For anyone who may be interested in an older , large vehicle suitable for
caving. It is parked on a driveway on Wilcrest, one block south of I-10 in west
Houston. It is a 1995 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer tudor with 148,000 miles. It is
apparently two wheel drive, automatic, leather, power windows, cruise, new
stereo, I pad adapter, blue tooth. It is dark metallic green and tan and the
tires have 8,000-10,000 miles of wear remaining. Asking price is $ 6,900. It
may be one owner and appears to be perfect with no blemishes.
It appears to be extremely well maintained. Don't know about the mechanicals as
I have not spoken with the owner whose phone
is 713-907-3390.

[PBSS] 5 Mouth and Abyss

2011-05-27 Thread jlrbills
First:
The current 5 Mouth list is: Bill Bentley, Walter, Paul Unger, David ? and
friend, Me. I will be camoing Friday night unless something work related
prevents.

Kerry, I still do not know if we'll be hanging over to Sunday but it so far
does not look like it.

We need more! We have an archaeology person joining us and we will become more
educated as a result.

Abyss for the 11th--I cannot go back through emails right now and check
releases but if you have not scanned and sent and you are coming, please get
that puppy scanned and emailed so I can print it when I get home. Jacqui

[Texascavers] Center for biological Diversity petition to close caves

2011-05-27 Thread htjo...@juno.com
As many of you are aware, The Center for Biological Diversity is pushing an
online petition to close all caves managed by state or federal agencies. The
goal is to prevent the spread of WNS.

Found this recent link on a local Facebook page with the positive goal to
"Share El Paso with Native Plants and Animals."

http://action.biologicaldiversity.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=6898

This is the link to the petition to close caves. At least one reader had
already responded to the request.

I commented on the posting and noted my objections.

I remember that one. Everyone was lucky they got to eat. I remember trying to
cook and all it did was rain.

The only one worse for cooking was at Andy's swamp.

Be careful what you wish for, Allan.  Ellie has a reputation for doing her jobs
well, and the most effective way to make sure there's no dust is to have lots
of rain. During one past TCR at Flat Creek Ranch, we did have rain, enough rain
that it inspired a new sporting event, ... mud skiing behind 4 wheel drive
vehicles.
