There will be a meeting at Bill Mixon's house on Monday, February 13,
at 8 p.m. for those interested in the activities (other than caving)
of the Association for Mexican Cave Studies and, especially, for those
interested in helping out. See amcs-pubs.org for information about the
AMCS, although the web site consists now mostly of a catalog of
publications--one of the things that needs work.

On Wednesday evening, February 22 (the fourth Wednesday), I will have
an open-house at my place for anyone interested in seeing my library
of cave books and periodicals and the AMCS library and archives. There
are a lot of resources there that I'd like to see more widely used,
and anyway I need to celebrate having just finished dusting the
shelves for the first time in, well, a while.

I'm at 14045 North Green Hills Loop, Austin 78737, (512) 288-4991.
Don't be fooled by the "North"; the location is really in northern
Hays Country, a couple of miles east of the Salt Lick. Google maps is
(again) wrong about the location of my house by a couple of hundred
meters. I've posted a map at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26580089/house%20map%20small.tif

Jean Krejca will be presenting the Program for the evening
Recent Sump Dives in Texas at O-9 Well, Reeds Cave, and Blowing Sink
Jean’s adventures include sharing in the fun where it takes a few friends
to haul gear down to the sump. She knows that Caves don’t end at the sump,
but it takes additional effort to push the passage when it is flooded.
Come check out the great program and for the fun and fellowship with
Austin Texas Cavers.

For information on Underground Texas Grotto activities, please see

Officer contact, trip reports, event calendar, and new caver training links

Before the meeting, take advantage of Sao Paulo www.saopaulos.net for

Folks, we have picked an extra weekend (in advance of the work regional in
March) to begin disassembly and perhaps some preliminary refinishing of the
historic building balcony railing reconstruction.

We will be working Feb 25 & 26, and also will be starting on Feb 24 for any
that can come early.

We will meet at 10 am Friday, Feb 24 at the bunkhouse. On Saturday & Sunday we
will start at 9 am.

If we have enough hands we can begin some of the restoration work, thus
lessening amount we will have to do at the regional and ensuring that the
project will be completed by then.

Any that are planning to attend this early event, please let me know you're
coming. Declinations are not necessary.

Bring any personal equipment and hand/power tools. Drills, perhaps sanders,
screwdrivers, hammers, etc. would be useful. A ladder or two for availability
wouldn't hurt, though we should be able to do nearly all the work from the
balcony.

Thanks for the help.

[SWR] fort stanton

2012-02-12 Thread Stephen Fleming
Folks, we have picked an extra weekend (in advance of the work regional
in March) to begin disassembly and perhaps some preliminary refinishing
of the historic building balcony railing reconstruction.

We will be working Feb 25 & 26, and also will be starting on Feb 24 for
any that can come early.

We will meet at 10 am Friday, Feb 24 at the bunkhouse. On Saturday &
Sunday we will start at 9 am.

If we have enough hands we can begin some of the restoration work, thus
lessening amount we will have to do at the regional and ensuring that
the project will be completed by then.

Any that are planning to attend this early event, please let me know
you're coming. Declinations are not necessary.

Bring any personal equipment and hand/power tools. Drills, perhaps
sanders, screwdrivers, hammers, etc. would be useful. A ladder or two
for availability wouldn't hurt, though we should be able to do nearly
all the work from the balcony.

Thanks for the help.
