There are three 70's mellow-rock songs for background music ( Crosby-Stills-Nash, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton ) There are at least 4 guys and they seem equipped enough for a trip like the one they plan to go on. And maybe there is somebody waiting near the entrance in case they don't come out.The videographer writes that this is his first Airman's trip. I am sure he only posted this to show all his friends and subscribers and is not meant to be scrutinized by caver video enthusiast. But just for the sake of it, I would like to point out the helmet-cam is too shaky, the spot-light in the center of then entire video is annoying. The captions should mention that this is a warm dry dusty cave, and lightweight cotton clothing is desired. And since you might be pushing your helmet in front of you a few times, it is better to use a crappy old lightweight helmet. And that you don't need a fancy headlamp, but it needs to be reliable and have extra batteries. I haven't been to the cave in 20 years.I wish I could have gone there when I was a teenager, because I would have enjoyed it a whole lot back then. Had I seen this video as a teenager, it would have most likely inspired me to go there. David Locklear---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- The two guys in this film tagged along with the Cowtown Grotto trip, and turned around right after the first long crawl, because one of the boys got scared. They don't know anything about taking off their helmets (which, for a trip to the Aggie Art Gallerie and back, they shouldn't need to). Preston, The City of Austin controls the key. [Texascavers] 2013 Caver Beach Party - update
The date for the beach party is May 31, June 1st, and June 2nd. I have a small cabin on the beach for those 3 days. Other friends of mine in the NaturFest group have cabins rented also. Here is a link: http://www.brazoria-county.com/parks/quintana/Cabins.html This is the nicest beach in east Texas, except for 1 small problem. There is an enormous power plant about a 1/2 mile from the location. They do not allow vehicles on the beach or camp-fires. It is pristine as you are going to find in this region. The big deal is that the cabins are right behind the dunes facing the waves, and the cabins are very nice and not too expensive. You can camp in a tent, or maybe sleep on the floor in my cabin. I should have the cabin to myself Sunday night, so anyone is welcome to stay Sunday night in the cabin. I would bet that we have a live musician perform some acoustic Mexican music. We did this last year, and it was a success. The location is about 20 minutes south of Freeport, Texas. Google Map coordinates: 28.934153,-95.301536 David Locklear 281-995-8487 ( text-line )

[Texascavers] A web-based Texas Caving Encyclopedia ?
Below are 29 links from Wikipedia specific to caves in Texas. That is quite a bit of info already at our fingertips already on Wikipedia. Sifting thru it all for someone not familiar with the internet and Wikipedia is not user friendly, and it is not easy for cavers to fix or collaborate. Obviously, there is an opportunity here for a future creative caver or cavers to someday make a Texas Speleo-Encyclopedia. The idea would be to first verify the correctness and next assemble all the info in a easy to use wiki-place with the overall goal to allow all cavers to easily collaborate on organizing the data. I would guess that there is some wiki software that allows one to do something like what I am proposing. I grouped the links into 7 basic categories.
