[Texascavers] TSA - CBSP February Project Weekend

2017-02-06 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
This weekend, Feb 11th, is the 5th TSA-CBSP Project Weekend of the
2016-2017 season. The project is limited to 20 people and it is already
full. So why am I emailing the list about a full trip? Because people
will complain either way if I do or dont send the email reminder. :)
The March, April and May trips are still open, so email if you want to sign
up for one of those.

[Texascavers] TSA - CBSP January Project Weekend

2017-01-11 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
Remember that this weekend, Jan 14th, is the 4th TSA-CBSP Project Weekend
of the 2016-2017 season.
Looks like its going to be scatted shower, but it doesnt look like it will
get too wet and muddy until the heavier showers on Sunday.
We currently have 16 of 20 spaces filled. If you are thinking of attending,
YOU MUST EMAIL me and reserve you space BEFORE NOON FRIDAY.

2016-12-06 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
Remember that this weekend, Dec 10th, is the 3rd TSA-CBSP Project Weekend
of the 2016-2017 season. The weather should be nice and chilly with very
low chances of rain. We will be camping at Caver Camp.
If you are thinking about attending, YOU MUST EMAIL me and reserve your
space BEFORE NOON FRIDAY. I am obligated to provide the list of volunteers
to the Park by this time.
Please read the the information and understand the rules posted at

[Texascavers] TSA - CBSP November Project Weekend

2016-11-08 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
Remember this weekend, Nov 12, is the 2nd TSA-CBSP Project Weekend of the
2016-2017 season. The weather should be good for temperature, but there has
been rain this week and there is a chance of rain on both Saturday and
Sunday mornings, so plan accordingly. We will be camping at Caver Camp
unless unless the road is too muddy. Join the mailing list (see website)
for this project for last minute updates if are you are planning on coming.

Please completely read the project website
http://www.cavetexas.org/projects/cbsp.html .

Also, this project weekend will be the last project weekend for the season
that will not require prior reservation. We have decided that we will be
able to better handle our responsibilities with the park and productivity
if we know who intends to attend and limit the group size to 20 people. I
do not expect this to effect any of the regular attendees and will help
with the quality of learning for first timers. Keep an eye out for an email
and updates to the website on how this will be handled.

[Texascavers] TSA - CBSP October Project Weekend

2016-10-04 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
Remember that this weekend is the 1st TSA-CBSP Project Weekend of the
2016-2017 season.
Highs in the low 80s and 0% chance of rain, should be really nice. Home
base will be at Caver Camp this weekend. Kris and I will arrive at about
9:30p on Friday evening.
This would be a good weekend to come out and do the groundwork and lay
claim to a project cave for this season. We are expecting a large group of
new cavers, so any help from experienced cavers to lead groups would be
greatly appreciated.

Please completely read and understand the information at
http://www.cavetexas.org/projects/cbsp.html.
The 2016-2017 dates are also listed there so you can update your calendars.

Reservation is not necessary except for groups of 4 or more, but if you
email me you are thinking about coming I will keep an eye out for you.

This weekend is going to be the last CBSP TSA project weekend of the season.
We will be focusing on cleaning up any data loose ends and avoiding the
rain.

Because of the weather outlook, we will be *camping at the Conference

2016-03-11 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
The road to Caver Camp is closed because of the wet conditions.
We will be camping and meeting at the Park Conference Center.
We will not be going into the Conference Center, just camping on the lawn.

The water at Cherokee Creek near Bend is still over the road, so do not
attempt to cross until the water goes down.

There will be a couple groups of new cavers planning on attending this

would be great.

[Texascavers] Colorado Bend State Park TSA Project weekend! (Jan 8-10) (Location Change)

2016-01-03 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
Remember this weekend is the fourth CBSP TSA project weekend of the season
(January 8-10). Also since we will be holding the TSA Winter Business
Meeting on Sunday, we will be setting up camp at the Conference Center
(house above the waterfall) instead of at Caver Camp. I will be arriving at
about 9:30pm Friday and adding the TSA lock into the gate. If you arrive
before me and do not already have access you will need to wait for someone
who does or email ahead of time to arrange something. The combo to this
BLUE TSA lock is 2-2-8-7. Always leave gate locks EXACTLY as you found
them. You may sleep inside on a bunk bed or bring a tent and camp on the
lawn. We will cook group meals. It will be lots of fun. Give the project
details a read at http://www.cavetexas.org/projects/cbsp.html.

GROUP MEAL: email Kris at kapkanga...@gmail.com to be counted in. How many
people and what days and what you cant eat.

2015-12-10 Thread Will Quast via Texascavers
Remember this weekend is the third CBSP TSA Project weekend of the season
(December 11-13). Sorry for the late reminder, I have been out of the
country. There is small chance for rain on Saturday evening, but the
temperatures will be very reasonable. Please read about the project at
http://www.cavetexas.org/projects/cbsp.html. If you have never attended
this project and plan to come, call or email me and we can get you ready.

Kris and I will be at Caver Camp at 930p or 10p on Friday night. I was
thinking about making another trip over the river if anyone is interested.
Last month's trip over there was a bunch of fun. Otherwise there are a few
tasks we can do on the San Saba side.

Here is a compilation video of my group's trip over the river last month:

I will be arriving at Caver Camp at 930p or 10p on Friday night. With the

FYI: We do not have access to the Conference Center at CBSP this weekend.
The Conference Center is still under renovation and is in no condition for
any type of use. Project volunteers will meet and stay at Caver Camp.
The Conference Center has been requested for the 2nd weekend in February
and will be confirmed when Jason returns. Per Kurt's last email, The TSA
winter meeting for 2015 will be at Colorado Bend State Park Feb 15th, at
