Most of the e-mails so far have bounced back, and many don't have e-mails. Some are obvious typos. Many have weird e-mail addresses that you have to carefully proofread, which is no fun. I would like to personally thank Mark Zuckerberg and the guys he stole the idea from for making this much easier.Facebook is the best way at the moment to plan events, but I can see something else coming along someday to do it even better, and I am willing to bet it will be a product from the winner of the Android/iOS war. Someone should try to track the folks down in the NSS manual and send them a Facebook invite to their favorite group. I am leaving for Brenham in just 4 days to start setting things up, so this is the last chance I will get to send out invites. Facebook was originally designed for teenagers. Adults found it so fun and useful that they usurped it. Yes, there is a lot of trivial BS that has to be waded through but once on the other side FB offers a lot of fun, entertainment, information on friends current events, and educational opportunities that most folks who aren't sequestered in their personal hermitage can benefit from. Very seldom has so much information (useful and otherwise) been available to so many for so little effort and expense. --Ediger On Wed, Jan 12, 2011 at 12:07 PM, Fritz Holt fh...@townandcountryins.com wrote: I'm not on facebook, myspace or anything else. This conversation is starting to remind me of the 90s when I first told my parents that I wanted to order a book online and they thought I was crazy. It's called Amazon dot com. I'll give you cash if can use your credit card to order it for me. You want to put my credit card on THE INTERNET?! What's wrong with book stores? Book stores have books. I watch the TexasCaver email list, obviously, but using e-mail as a discussion forum for hundreds of people is not terribly elegant. Other than mine us for our precious bodily fluids, er... I mean private information, free-form discussions amongst groups of people is what sites like Facebook do best. I'm putting this whole thread in a time capsule for 5 years from now.
