[tw] Re: ToggleTiddlersBar
That's great Mario. Unfortunately it breaks the menu in TWT Treeview for me. Something must have either slipped in, or slipped out when you converted it from ToggleRightSidebar. Could you check that out? [tw] Re: Anyone else having issues with Firefox 3.5.5 (Windows)?
I have found that the longer I run FF non-stop, the slower it behaves. Lately I've been living in the TiddlyWiki space, reviewing adaptations and plugins, gathering notes for several university projects. I'll work in FF for 12-15 hours almost non-stop. At some point, I haven't tried to figure out the catalyst, FF begins to consume 40% or more CPU cycles. It won't release its stranglehold until I shut it down completely. Sometimes I have to reboot (Visa Home Edition). The size and complexity of your TiddlyWiki will affect the performance of FF somewhat. As my TiddlyWiki content loads grows, I'm beginning to consider http://jackparke.googlepages.com/jtw.html#ArchivePlugin or something similar to try and reduce the load on FF. Good luck. Keep us posted if you learn anything. Craig -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] Re: ToggleTiddlersBar
Mario, Thank you very much. Good job. I'll be incorporating it shortly. I like how Måns has Tabs on/off working in http://notestormproject.tiddlyspot.com/. My next question is, "If the point of ToggleTiddlersBar is to facilitate printing the story, then wouldn't it be logical for someone to combine this behavior with http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#SnapshotPlugin and/or http://devpad.tiddlyspot.com/#PrintMacro and/or http://jackparke.googlepages.com/jtw.html#PublishMacro to facilitate a single-step PrintStoryPlugin, PrintStoryMacro, or PrintStory transclusion?" Now that I sit and think about this for a moment, I have a different approach to consider. For the purposes of printing the story (all open tiddlers), not just a single tiddler (that's why we have http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#SnapshotPlugin), I still like a single click. But instead of a toggle that alternates the display and requires an additional step, how about opening a new window/tab and rendering the story with a PrintTemplate, PrintStyleSheet? We've got View... and Edit..., why not Print...? The CSS could be light enough for simple black-on-white hardcopy or rich enough to support all wikifications, including syntax highlighting for code content. Multiple CSS configurations could address print quality (e.g. draft, quality), paper size, etc. Since the output is sent to another window/ tab, there is no need for me to show/hide the tabs. One more little brainstorm before going to bed. Marry the Print... paradigm with http://www.math.ist.utl.pt/~psoares/addons.html#SlideShowPlugin and/or http://lewcid.googlepages.com/presentation_empty_full.html#Documentation and some creative use of http://tw.lewcid.org/#AnnotationsPlugin and/ or http://tw.lewcid.org/#TiddlerNotesPlugin and/or http://tw.lewcid.org/#FootnotesPlugin and/or http://devpad.tiddlyspot.com/#SimpleCommentsPlugin and http://devpad.tiddlyspot.com/#CommentsFormatter and some CSS magic and you've got a fairly robust alternative to MS PowerPoint - complete with included/excluded speaker notes, included/excluded images or image placeholders, landscape/portrait orientation, multiple paper sizes, etc. I'm good with the questions, not so much, yet, with the answers. Thanks for playing along. Craig -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. To post to this group, send email to tiddlyw...@googlegroups.com. I'm able to use 3.5.5 fine under XP, and my main TW is top heavy with features. You might start by downloading an empty TW and seeing how that works. Actually, I have had issues with Firefox 3.5.3 (but only with editing -- TW's loaded from the web seem to operate fine) and so I use Flock for editting Tiddlywikis instead. [tw] Re: SlideShowPlugin request for compability with SectionLinksPlugin
Måns, now it works but the different behavior is really weird. I'll download your file and investigate. I will also take a better look on the way sections work. Maybe something useful comes up. You really have a strong case supporting the single tiddler approach. I'll definitely try to restore it as soon as I find the time to do it. Meanwhile I think your idea on using both versions may work if you: 1) replace every instance of 'version.extensions.SlideShowPlugin' with 'version.extensions.SlideShowPlugin2', for example; 2) replace every instance of 'config.macros.slideShow' with 'config.macros.slideShow2', for example, in one of the versions. With this, you'll have two macros available: <> and <>. I haven't tried it but I guess it should work. [tw] Re: SlideShowPlugin request for compability with SectionLinksPlugin
I agree that a double role for the headings (structure of the tiddler content and slide separator) may not be, in general, very convenient. The suggested solution () is similar to the one I abandoned (- s-). I did it because, in my experience, the single tiddler approach turned out to be harder to edit because it required lots of scrolling when writing and testing a presentation. In the process, it moved the plugin closer to TW's microcontent philosophy and made most of the extensive DOM manipulation unnecessary. To recover the previous functionality I would need a way to split a tiddler's content into several virtual tiddlers in order to produce the slideshow. I can't see a way to achieve this without restoring the old DOM manipulation that I gladly removed. Is there any alternative? Regarding the dollar, my plugins are written like this: (function($) { ... plugin code ... })(jQuery) as suggested in the jQuery documentation. I believe that, this way, I don't need any extra support from TW. Am I wrong? [tw] Re: ToggleTiddlersBar
Hi, since yesterday I used a "dirty" hack like: iserted the following line in tiddler: OptionsPanel <> [[deactivate TBar|TiddlersBarInfo]] needs a tiddler named: TiddlersBarInfo containing: var t=setTimeout("story.closeTiddler('TiddlersBarInfo')", 2000); If you check the option and click the WikiLink the tiddler opens and after 2 seconds closes automatically. The disadvantage is, the shorter the time the faster you have to bee with double click, if you want to edit the tiddler :) Yesterday I took Erics great work ToggleRightSidebar and changed it. See [1]. It is a transclusion, so it can be also used as a link in the browser. > If it is possible, practical, and harmless, would someone please tell > me how? I hope the macro is harmless. If not tell me. Should also work with IE. I versioned it with "0.9.0 beta" because for refreshing tiddlers bar I needed: story.displayTiddler(null,''); story.closeTiddler(''); because I don't fully understand the refresh machanism in TW. But for me it does the work. Some dev hints would be very welcome! regards Mario [1] http://a-pm.tiddlyspot.com/#ToggleTiddlersBar [2] http://a-pm.tiddlyspot.com/#[[ToggleTiddlersBar%20Test]] On Nov 30, 6:09 pm, Craig in Calgary wrote: > In every instance of ToggleTiddlersBar I have seen, > e.g.http://notestormproject.tiddlyspot.com/,http://twt-treeview-executive.tiddlyspot.com, > the implementation of ToggleTiddlersBar is always the opening of a > tiddler, the selecting of a checkbox, and then the selecting of the > close button to apply the change - three (3) clicks. If you want to be able to select emailaddress from the Viewtemplate instead you might need to install http://www.tiddlytools.com/#EditFieldPlugin as well. regards Måns Mårtensson On 3 Dec., 11:25, Måns wrote: > Hi Cody > > Try Fnds' emailMacro http://devpad.tiddlyspot.com/#eMailMacro > You can put in in a ViewTemplate and use a field for the reciever > mailaddress like this: > span> > and put an editfield for the mailaddress in the EditTemplate like > this: > Email: > > You might need to installhttp://www.tiddlytools.com/#ListboxPluginto > be able to use the <> macro > > Regards Måns Mårtensson > > On 2 Dec., 20:23, sonomakid2002 wrote: > > > > > I am using the Comments plugin that Eric has on TiddlyTools. Hi Cody Try Fnds' emailMacro http://devpad.tiddlyspot.com/#eMailMacro You can put in in a ViewTemplate and use a field for the reciever mailaddress like this: and put an editfield for the mailaddress in the EditTemplate like this: Email: You might need to install http://www.tiddlytools.com/#ListboxPlugin to be able to use the <> macro Regards Måns Mårtensson On 2 Dec., 20:23, sonomakid2002 wrote: > I am using the Comments plugin that Eric has on TiddlyTools. [tw] Re: SlideShowPlugin request for compability with SectionLinksPlugin
Hi Paulo > I've tried your example and the slide show does not even start (as it > should be). How can it work for you? I'm puzzled. Hmm I don't know what went wrong - Here's another example that works (I hope) - However I can't tell the difference between this one and the Lorem Ipsum example? ... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3105342/Empty/empty.html#AS-2 > I can't see how to accommodate sections in the way the SlideShowPlugin > does it thing because it requires each slide to be a single tiddler Here's an example of Erics sectionslinkplugin where it renders/ wikifies *only* the content of a section.. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3105342/Empty/empty.html#AS-3 > but I'll sure appreciate any suggestions. The SectionLinksPlugin only > provides a way to link to sections (if I got it right). For now I can > only suggest you to try Eric's SplitTiddlers script that can help you > converting older presentations to the new format. Yes I thought about that too ... However turning 26 essays into minimum 30 tiddlers each (26x30'th) gives me almost 800 new tiddlers, every time I want to make a quick presentation of students work in a class... That's why I consider reverting to the older SlideShowPlugin, which could turn a single tiddler into a slideshow.. I apreciate the newer SlideShowPlugins ability to show playlists of tiddlers and I use it with Erics StorySaverPlugin to quickly collect a story of tiddlers - But I need a quick way to use 1 tiddler as a basis for a slideshow.. Can I install both SlideShowPlugin 1 (Old) and SlideShowPlugin 2 (New) - in the same TW and use both functionalities??
