Excellent news that you can now repeat the problem reliably. When you say
that the crash isn't occurring with the minimum test case, do you mean that
you don't get the crash if you disable all the plugins in your document?

Best wishes

2013-06-04 Thread TonyM
Jeremy,

This is so Frustrating. My Last elegantly composed response seemed safe
because by disabling various plugins I had found a potential subset of
plugins that may be the cause of an immediate abend, I could save my
tiddlywiki. Unfortunately before posting I though I would save my notes to
you and once again abend.

I will re-post from one I will write in Notepad first - shortly

Re: [tw] Re: Announcing TiddlyWiki version 2.8.0 full release

2013-06-04 Thread TonyM
If tiddlyFox is loaded it will save, but on occasion, after a period and
some saves it seems to revert to the new code and abends
If TiddlyFox is not loaded then my MasterDBV4 tiddlywiki seems to revert to
the new code in 2.8.0 and abends

The currently active plugins in MasterDBV4 are
AliasPlugin
BreadcrumbsPlugin
CalendarPlugin
CalendarPluginConfig
CheckboxPlugin
CommentPlugin
CookieJar
CookieManagerPlugin
CopyTiddlerPlugin
DatePlugin
DatePluginConfig
EditSectionPlugin
FootnotesPlugin
ForEachTiddlerPlugin
FramedLinksPlugin
GotoPlugin
HTMLFormattingPlugin
HideWhenPlugin
HoverMenuPlugin
InlineJavascriptPlugin
InlineTabsPlugin
InstantTimestampPlugin
ListboxPlugin
MptwLayoutPlugin
MultiTagEditorPlugin
MyCommentPlugin
NestedSlidersPlugin
NewHerePlugin
NewMeansNewPlugin
PartTiddlerPlugin
PopupMacro
QuickOpenTagPlugin
RecentChangesPlugin
ReminderPlugin
RenameTagsPlugin
RetagPlugin
SaveCloseTiddlerPlugin
SearchOptionsPlugin
SectionLinksPlugin
ShowPopupPlugin
ShowReferencesPlugin
StorySaverPlugin
StoryViewerPlugin
SystemInfoPlugin
TaggedTemplateTweak
TagglyTaggingPlugin
TagsplorerMacro
TiddlerListMacro
TiddlerNotesPlugin
TiddlersBarPlugin
ToggleTagPlugin
TrashPlugin
UndoPlugin
systemConfig
systemConfigOptions

*My Minimum test case is an empty 2.8.0 tiddlywiki*
If tiddlyFox is loaded it will save as it always used to
If TiddlyFox is not loaded then it reverts to the new code in 2.8.0 and
works (Download Dialogue)

*My Plugin Elimination process*
Enabling TiddlyFox and Prey I do not get an abend
I then Tag sets of plugins as systemConfigDisable
Save and reload without tiddlyfox to see if an abend occurs
I seem to have reduced the set of offenders to the following
AliasPlugin
BreadcrumbsPlugin
HoverMenuPlugin
InstantTimestampPlugin
IntelliTaggerPlugin
MonkeyTaggerMacro
NewHerePlugin
that is one or more may be the cause of the immediate abend (without
Firefox running)
However I have now got a delayed abend occurring.

When it abends in most cases the current tiddlywiki becomes Bytes in Size,
just sometimes it does not save but remains the version when opened.

Please excuse the multiple posts, I am in fear of it abending.

Tony

Do you use a file TW and want to upload to a server?
Which TW version?
 - use <> in a tiddler to see it.
Do you use your own server or upload to tiddlyspot, tiddlyspace ???

As you may have seen (in this group) allready, all browser vendors did
disable "unsecure save functions", which is causing trouble with the TW
save mechanism. So upload from file TW to eg tiddlyspot.com is __not__
possible anymore. There is no fix in sight at the moment.

hope this helps

[tw] Re: A View Mode Editor and a simple Calcualtor

2013-06-04 Thread Yakov
Hi Vincent,

great stuff, nice that the wrong-heading-to-edit bug is already fixed in
2.0.1. I've got one issue, though: can't get a whole tiddler get
"inline-edited" (and, by the way, double-clicking contents of a tiddler
doesn't bring the edit mode). At the same time, still #tiddlerDisplay area
shows the border when the cursor is in some positions. Also, I suggest to
equip "TableEditor" wikiwords in the "Data" slices of TWtid and TWted with
"~" so that less "missing" links appear. And probably do the same in the
"Licence" slices of all the plugins, for "TiddlyWiki" wikiword. Finally,
let me remind the "missing cell issue": in table like this

|c11|c12|
|c21|

one can't get into the missing cell navigating with arrows which is a bit
uncomfortable.

Nice to hear that the developing is going on!

Best regards,
Yakov.

2013-06-04 Thread TonyM
Ok,

So here is the outcome. Through a Comprehensive disabling of all plugins I
could not identify any that were responsible. In Fact I can reproduce the
fault *without any plugins active* at all. My TiddlyWiki 2.8.0 running on
FireFox FF 21.0 and using TiddlyFox alpha16.

I am usually fine if I am running TiddlyFox however see below. When I am
not running tiddlyfox and the save routine is used I all-most always
immediately get a FF abend since updating tiddlywiki

It seems to be clear that when TiddlyFox Does its job and the new save
routines are not used, save proceeds without fault - however after a period
of time eventually tiddlyFox seems to fail intermittently and an presumable
passes the save effort to another routine an abend occurs.

My TiddlyWiki is 13,728 KB in size, could there be a fault relating to this
size, which is otherwise fine, or a timeout in TiddlyFox or tiddlywiki or
FF when saving ?

I am starting to migrate my personal database to an alternative.

Yours Sincerely TonyM

Many thanks to everyone who took part in yesterday's TiddlyWiki5 hangout.
For those that couldn't make it, there is now a video available:

http://youtu.be/jduxruwB5K4

The discussion was mostly around the topic of organising the community
contributed parts of TW5 - the plugin library, including themes, macros,
colour schemes, and so on.

The video is a shade under 2 hours long, and so maybe only for the intrepid
- it would be much appreciated if anyone is able to transcribe a summary.

Best wishes

AHHH! I posted the WRONG TW2.8.0 file for the upgrade. It was
supposed to be the empty.html (no content), not the index.html
(tiddlywiki.com content). I've put the corrected file in place.
Upgrading should work properly now.

2013-06-04 Thread Eric Shulman
> FireFox FF 21.0 and using TiddlyFox alpha16.

The problem you are having doesn't sound like a coding error in
TiddlyWiki's file I/O handlers, but rather some kind of internal
memory leakage from FireFox.

I took a quick look through the DUMP output you posted. Most of it is
a complete mystery, but seems like generic crash trace output. One
line that stood out as being, perhaps, more informative, is this:
--
xpcom_runtime_abort(###!!! ABORT: OOM: file
> >> e:\builds\moz2_slave\rel-m-rel-w32_bld-\build\xpcom\string\src\

--

According to mozilla.org documentation, this file is part of the
internal library that handles 8-bit and 16-bit character strings:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla_internal_string_guide
--
The string classes are a library of C++ classes which are used to
manage buffers of wide (16-bit) and narrow (8-bit) character strings.
The library headers are in the xpcom/string/public directory, and the
implementation is in the xpcom/string/src directory.

This version is now packaged with the latest release of
tiddlywebwiki[1] and as a result is now the default TiddlyWiki in
TiddlySpace[2].

Also, because of some adjustments Eric (thanks!) made to the build
process, various versions of TiddlyWiki are available depending on how
you set your ServerSettings[3] tiddler.

If you state

 twrelease: beta

you'll get the most recent beta (which is now older than the mainline
release).

If you state

 twrelease: beta
 external: True

You'll get the most recent beta with an externalized core.

And finally if you state:

 external: True

you'll get the current mainline with an externalized core.

You can also do things like this:

  http://cdent-t15.tiddlyspace.com/?twrelease=beta

Note that TiddlySpace will always run a few days behind Eric's release
schedule because at the moment the files are gathered up and released
in a semi manual process.

Hi everyone, I'm using the UploadPlugin on version 2.8.0 and I would like
to edit the upload options screen which is available via the
backstage>Upload buttons. I just want to copy my store.php url into it so
that I can copy past it every time I need to save to web. I use this TW all
the time from multiple devices and I don't want to have to type the URL in
every time I save it which might be once every 5 minutes or 20 times a day.
If you know an easier way to make it store that input that would be great
too. I would love it if I could just use this like a regular website login.
is there a plug in for that so that I can just log in with a ID and
password and it will let me edit and save? It would be great to just enter
an ID and password and click a "remember me" checkbox and not have to fret
with it anymore.

Hi BuildHeaven

> to edit the upload options screen which is available via the

In the backstage dialog you get some parameters you can use for
hardcoding values:

Create a (plugin)tiddler called something like zzConfig and tag it
with systemConfig
(zz* is to ensure that your plugin (plugins are tagged with
systemConfig) is loaded after all other plugins have been loaded.)

For defining "txtUploadUserName" write:
config.options.txtUploadUserName="username";
For defining "pasUploadPassword" write:
config.options.pasUploadPassword="password";
(Be aware that anyone can make changes and upload them if you have set/
hardcoded both the correct password and username in your TW!!)
txtUploadStoreUrl
config.options.txtUploadStoreUrl="http://yourURL/store.php";;
If your store.php is in the same dir as your index.html (TW) it
shouldnt be neccesary to write anything as it defaults to :
store.php..

Same procedure for the rest of them...

If you just want it to remember the "txtUploadStoreUrl" you should end
up with a tiddler called zzConfig tagged with systemConfig and a
single line:
config.options.txtUploadStoreUrl="http://yourURL/store.php";;

Save and reload the document..

What you ask for is provided by TiddlySpot and TiddlySpace.
If you need to use your own server for your documents you can install
BidiX's TiddlyHome package to get morel possibilities for saving, than
you have now.
Private mode (No one can view it unless they log in - similar to
TiddlySpot's private mode - or TiddlySpace's Private mode...)
Shared mode (You can let another user - or group of users have write
access to your wiki - they can't delete it)
Normal mode (Everyone can read your content - but they can't edit
it..)

There's an even simpler way to get a standard login via the php script
"MicroTiddlyServer" provided by Athman Boukhaoua.

Search for MicroTiddlyServer on this group and you'll find it.
I've had a few problems with it - however it might work well in your
case..

Good luck

2013-06-04 Thread PMario
Hi,
I did see this behaviour once but it went away before I could track it
down.
For me it helped to remove the TiddlyWiki cookie.

With FireFox you can open the web dev tool with
the following command: "cookie remove TiddlyWiki" should remove it.

Reload the page and see what happens.

Chrome dev tools are .. tab resources: Cookies:
your.tw.name.something

Or you can go with your browsers settings menues. There should be a cookie
settings menu somewhere.

hope this helps

I might be missing something, but the resulting document does not work as
the author intended I think. Possible technology has moved too far along
since creation date?

I can create an record, add note or terminal note to the record, drag the
items into a different order.
I can't add to sidebar, add items to the home page. On refresh the file
re-establishes as base line. No save possible?
Tried in IE8 and Chrome :(

Not worried though.

   1. The functionality of "Add to Sidebar" I already have by making the
Main Navigation derive from a tiddler tag.
   2. The formatting for "terminal" seems like something I can duplicate
for specific task types in my TeamTasks set-up.

/* Terminal styling --- */
pre.terminal { color:

> monaco "lucida console", "courier new", courier, serif; margin: 0.9em 0;

[tw] Re: Announcing TiddlyWiki version 2.8.0 full release

2013-06-04 Thread TonyM
Eric,

Thanks for some analysis on this. I have had the FF abend problem for some
time, This has been occurring under a number of different FF versions,
TiddlyFox and plugin combinations including no FF extensions. In the tests
presented by me in this thread only TiddlyFox (or not), Table Tools2 1.17
and Copy HTML 0.2.4 were installed and enabled.

I have disabled all FF Extensions (Not plugins) including TiddlyFox (and
disabled TiddlyLockPlugin) and the problem still occurs.

I wonder why the dump refers to E:\ which is not on my machine. ?

Regards
Tony

[tw] Re: Next TiddlyWiki5 Hangout in 30 minutes

2013-06-04 Thread David Gifford
Okay, listened to the whle Youtube video while multitasking. My
comments and reactions:

1. No mention was made of the drafts of initial end-user documentation I
wrote up, and Jeremy hasn't followed up with me regarding a TiddlySpot or
TiddlySpace in which he was going to store that documentation. Is that
still on the table? Or maybe it wasn't what you were looking for? What is
happening with that?

2. I am dabbling with a script for a rough draft of a video that could go
on TiddlyWiki5 for end-users. I will record it and add some VERY
rudimentary visuals to it as I am able.

3. I am beginning to think that TiddlyWiki5 itself is not the best place to
have links to the themes, plugins, macros, guides, examples, tutorials, etc.
a. I think TiddlyWiki5 should have a tab called "Customize" or "Pimp your
notes" or "Goodies" or something like that, and in the tab, there is one
external link "Find themes for your TiddlyWiki" that takes you to an
official TW full of themes and style hacks, moderated via Github, but where
the new user doesn't even have to know about Github to access it.
b. In the same tab would be a second external link called "Find goodies for
your TiddlyWiki" that opens the official plugin/widget/macro TiddlyWiki.
Again, this TiddlyWiki would be moderated via Github, but all the new user
would see are the tiddlers, which again they can drag and drop to their own
TioddlyWikis.
Entering either of these would function like a grab bag of free stuff you
can pilfer to your heart's content and add to your own TiddlyWikis. Kind of
like the webpage for Firefox addons. This idea is so that TiddlyWiki5
doesn't get either too bloated, filesize wise, or too complicated to
navigate. It is also so that there is a quick way to get to the official
themes, goodies, adaptations, etc that make TiddlyWiki so addicting and
customizable.
c. There could also be an external link from TW5 to a separate site,
probably not a TiddlyWiki, with guides, testimonials, tutorials, examples,
links to user adaptations, and community. Not sure what that would look
like, but should be easy for users to navigate via a dead simple TOC to get
to what they need. Part social connection, part Google groups, part toolbox?

4. For the record, you Facebook haters, I use Facebook every day! But then
I live and work in a second culture and it is a great way to keep up with
people back home, and also connect with students and others outside of
seminary, etc. I know what I need it for, and limit myself to that. You
guys did the kneejerk negative reaction, but since you didn't explain
yourselves, I am inclined to see it as "pick on the big popular site just
because it is big and popular", or something along those lines. Oh, you
hipsters! LOL. But seriously, I would love to hear what your actual
reasoning for hating on Facebook is.

Anyway, couldn't be there this time, because I got distracted, but here are
my follow up comments for what they are worth. Blessings

Dave

[tw] TiddlyWiki 5 rough draft of video script.

2013-06-04 Thread David Gifford
Hi all

One thing Jeremy mentioned in the most recent TW hangout is the need for an
introductory video to TW. I am not very good at video editing, nor do I
have a good voice for narrating. But I think I could write up a script and
do a rough video that others could then clean up for the release of TW5.

So here is my unfinished rough draft for a script for a video intro to
TiddlyWiki 5, below the dashes. I would love your feedback. Is there
anything really basic that is missing? Is there anything that needs to be
clearer for new people? Is there anything that doesn't make sense or isn't
correct?

-

Unless you’ve seen TiddlyWiki, we guarantee you, you’ve never seen anything
like TiddlyWiki.

TiddlyWiki is a tool, a toolbox, and a community.

*TiddlyWiki is first of all a tool:* a downloadable tool for capturing and
organizing content from the web, from your documents or from your brain.
It’s a tool for note-taking, bookmarking, pinning, writing, managing to-do
lists and projects, collaborating, blogging, and publishing. You can easily
create or paste content into notes called tiddlers, then connect your
tiddlers with hyperlinks and tags. You can even stack individual tiddlers
like building blocks to create longer notes like articles, lists and
presentations.

In addition to being a tool, *TiddlyWiki is also a toolbox:* where other
note-taking products hook you with the basic program then charge you for
the really helpful features, TiddlyWiki has an ever-expanding collection of
completely free visual themes, plugins, widgets and macros, which you can
then mix and match so that you can tweak and tailor your TiddlyWiki to get
it just the way you want it.

*TiddlyWiki is also a community:* a community of users and developers who
help each other imagine new ways of thinking and organizing, who help each
other create new solutions so that TiddlyWiki is continually adapting to
better serve your needs.

You can download as many stand-alone TiddlyWiki files as you want. You can
create one for each topic or project, if you wish. You can use TiddlyWiki
as a single, ever-expanding file, or you can use it to manage each of your
note tiddlers as separate files. You can also store and use TiddlyWikis at
secure websites like TiddlySpot and TiddlySpace, so that you can access and
edit your TiddlyWiki from anywhere, and you can even share tiddlers back
and forth with others.

TiddlyWiki has so many features and creates so many possibilities, that it
may seem intimidating at first. But the basic steps to TiddlyWiki are
really simple:

1. *Create.* Just click on the plus icon to the right to create a
note called a tiddler. Give it a title in the top window, tag it as
desired, and add content to the large window. Then click the checkbox when
you’re done editing it to view the results. Clicking on the pen icon in any
tiddler opens it up in edit mode so that you can modify it. You can also
drag and drop images from your device into TiddlyWiki, and they are
automatically turned into tiddlers. These tiddlers are displayed in a
vertical river of tiddlers. You can scroll up and down to navigate the
river, or jump back and forth between them using the links in the “open”
tab. You can also see what tiddlers reference the present tiddler in their
links and tags, by clicking on the information icon.

2. *Connect.* TiddlyWiki uses hyperlinks and tags to allow you to
connect your tiddlers to each other.

a. You can create *hyperlinks* within any tiddler that link to either
external webpages or to other tiddlers in your TiddlyWiki. Just use camel
case lettering (alternating between upper and lower case letters) to create
links, or enclose multiple word texts with double brackets. Clicking on
links to existing tiddlers opens them. Clicking on empty links creates a
new tiddler with that title.

b. Another way to link tiddlers is by adding *tags*. Tags are a great
and flexible way to associate similar tiddlers by topic or category. You
can add tags to the tag window when you edit your tiddler.

3. *Save.* You can save your changes to Tiddlywiki by clicking the
save button. If you are currently viewing TiddlyWiki at the official
TiddlyWiki site, the save button will download a copy of your TiddlyWiki in
its current state to your device. If you create a TiddlyWiki at TiddlySpot
or Tiddlyspace, the save button will update the file at their server. If
you are viewing a copy you have saved to your device, the save button will
create a copy of your file. Either way, you can continue working without
leaving the current file until you are ready to save again. *(I know this
isn't working right yet, at least not for me. But if I understand TW5, this
description approximates the final goal)*

4. *Fetch.* Are your notes buried in a closed tiddler somewhere in
TiddlyWiki? Not to worry! You can use the lightning fast search window to
search for tiddlers. Or y
