Hashover consists of some php scripts and related files stored on the same

with tiddlywiki itself. Perhaps a commenting system like this in
conjunction with federation would be useful because then people without
 wikis could still interact.

This is the fist of the possibilities that I have tried out, I just got
lucky and it was pretty easy to implement in a tiddlywiki. There may be
better alternatives. One of the problems with this one is that due to the
license it uses I can't bundle anything for the tiddlywiki side of things
 with the hashover code.

I am hoping to use hashover to take and store the comments to get around
tiddlywiki being unable to give people selective write privileges like it
would have to do to allow comments directly. While tiddlywiki can probably
be set up to read the contents of xml files I think it will be easier than
that. Hashover generates the javascript used to display the comments as it
is needed, and the part that actually holds the comment information is a
json object (or something very similar anyway). So what I want to do is
instead of having hashover both take the comments and display them, I would
like to have hashover take and store comments and then have it send
tiddlywiki the comments in json format. That way I can make a tool to
automate putting the comments into tiddlers and display them however I
want. This will also allow some more advanced comment moderation, which is
 sadly lacking in hashover.

Re: [tw] [TW5] ToC not showing slider arrows

2015-05-18 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Mat

Using a tabbed table of contents in the control panel is a common pattern
in desktop software, and an interesting idea to explore.

You're not seeing any child tiddlers because they are not defined as the
toc macro requires. For example, the entry Appearance is stored in the
tiddler $:/core/ui/ControlPanel/Appearance, but of course there are no
tiddlers that are tagged $:/core/ui/ControlPanel/Appearance.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

I recall a previous suggestion to put the Controlpanel in a ToC tiddler
display (ie. the menu on the left in a tiddler). I can't find the

tiddler is not suitable for smaller screens such as mobile. It's a fair
objection, at the moment, but I hope separate themes for different size
screens will allow flexibility in this because the current Controlpanel
would be much nicer with a ToC.

...however, I just got an idea to put the Controlpanel as a ToC in the
sidebar. The sidebar has a kind of mixed role both for actual use
operations and for system admin, so why not? And we actually already have
the tab Tools that is in common with the Controlpanel.
For testing, I put up http://twctrlb.tiddlyspot.com/ and created tab
 Settings

But as you can see, I don't get the ToC slider-arrows to show. Might it
have something to do with that the titles are prefixed $:/?

Any ideas how to solve this?

 Thank you

 :-)

Re: [tw] Re: How to get an ultra minimized version of TW5

2015-05-18 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Danielo

If you want to build a custom version of the core plugin then the first and
most important thing is: please don't call it $:/core; something like
$:/core/danielo-minimum would be better.

Anyhow, the current process used under Node.js to build the `$:/core`
plugin includes all the tiddlers found by recursively loading the `core`
folder in the repo. It's not currently possible to omit individual tiddlers
except by deleting them. If you're working on a fork of the TW5 repo then
that's probably a reasonable approach; it will make your changes clearly
evident.

Best wishes

[tw] [TW5] Using Maths in a Slider

2015-05-18 Thread Chong
Hi I just have a quick question about sliders.

I want to have something like a story that starts as a plot summary, just a
list of the major plot points. Then if the reader wants more details on a
particular plot point, they can zoom in on that with a slider. The zoomed
in section is another list of plot points, and they can zoom in even
further on the details that they're interested in.

The problem is, I want to have maths equations in this story (it's a maths
story), and at the moment the only way I can get maths to render inside a
slider is if I transclude it from another tiddler. (I'm using the Texzilla
plugin for maths.) So I have to create a separate tiddler for every single
possible place there is to zoom. Is there a way to do this while keeping
all the content inside one tiddler?

Thanks in advance!

Are you using TW5 or TWClassic?

TW5 doesn't have sliders. Instead it uses the $reveal widget, in
combination with a state tiddler to control what content is shown, and
when.

The TW5 documentation for RevealWidget shows how to create a 'simple
slider' that provides a single button to toggle the content display.
However, the $reveal widget displays *any* content it encloses, so you
aren't limited to just using separate tiddlers.

In TWC, the slider macro does a similar job, but *does* require the
content to be in separate tiddlers (this is why I asked which version of
TiddlyWiki you are using... your question sounds like it's about TWClassic)

In TWC, if you want to define both the slider buttons *and* the content in
the same tiddler, install this plugin from my TiddlyTools site:

[tw] Re: [TW5] Comments on a tiddlywiki blogthing

2015-05-18 Thread Jed Carty
Mat,

I never touched php before 4 days ago so I am not sure how everything
works. I am pretty sure that since php is run on the server dropbox won't
let you use it. So, if there is a way to let you have comments on a wiki
hosted on dropbox of tiddlyspot what I have won't do it. I am going to see
if I can set things up so this could be hosted on a raspberry pi or
something similar that can be used as a cheap server. It isn't an ideal
solution but it looks like it may be the best I can do. We may be able to
set up a service like tiddlyspot that can act as a server for multiple
wikis so not everyone would need to have their own server.

Right now I am working on some code that will let you use tiddlywiki to
check for new comments that you then import as tiddlers so you can then do
whatever you want with them. It will probably take a bit of effort to
include the likes and threaded comments but it should be possible. This
will allow more control using only tiddlywiki and let you have some sort of
comment moderation. The biggest problem is that while I can make it so you
only have to push a single button, you do have to push it import any
comments, you can't have people whose comments automatically get displayed
without you importing the comments and then saving the wiki. I don't think
that is a terrible tradeoff for giving you control.

[tw] Re: [TW5] Using Maths in a Slider

2015-05-18 Thread Chong
I'm using TW5. My problem is that I don't know how to render maths with the
reveal widget. For example, the following code will render the
$$mathbb{Z}$$ correctly:

$reveal type=nomatch state=$:/state/SampleReveal2 text=show
$button set=$:/state/SampleReveal2 setTo=showShow me/$button
/$reveal
$reveal type=match state=$:/state/SampleReveal2 text=show
$button set=$:/state/SampleReveal2 setTo=hideHide me/$button
$$\mathbb{Z}$$
/$reveal

But when I try to use a macro to get rid of all the extra baggage, it
doesn't work:

\define showme(go)
$reveal type=nomatch state=$:/state/SampleReveal2 text=show
$button set=$:/state/SampleReveal2 setTo=showShow me/$button
/$reveal
$reveal type=match state=$:/state/SampleReveal2 text=show
$button set=$:/state/SampleReveal2 setTo=hideHide me/$button
$go$
/$reveal
\end

showme $$\mathbb{Z}$$

This will just give me the string $$\mathbb{Z}$$, unrendered. My question
is: how do I get the maths to render in the second case?

Thanks for your help.

[tw] Re: Display PDF inside tiddler

2015-05-18 Thread James
Hi Måns,

I am sorry to post a reply on the old threat.

I found your scripts really useful and it works on embedded PDF into TW5
very well.

However, I encounter a problem when I tried to embedded a local PDF file in
TW5. It pops up a download window instead of showing PDF in the iframe.
Would you mind to shed some lights on that?

Thanks.

On Saturday, 28 February 2015 06:37:27 UTC+8, Måns wrote:

 Hi Bill

If you have a look at the Motovun Jack.pdf tiddler in edit mode you'll
see that it's a binary tiddler and that it's type is set to
 application/pdf.
Maybe this all happens automagically when you drag a pdf on to a TW?
(import it into the TW document)

I don't know because I generally avoid embedding binary files in my TWs
not to create too big Tidddlywiki documents...

Instead I would create a tiddler and set the type to application/pdf
manually - simply write it in the type field if it doesn't appear in the
 drop down list already.
Next I would create a new custom field: _canonical_uri and paste the URL
to my web hosted pdf document (click add - or it won't be created).

Usually I show pdfs via an iframe: iframe width=100% height=900
src=URL to my web hosted pdf document frameborder=0
 allowfullscreen/iframe.

If I have a lot of pdfs to show I will create a global macro with the
 iframe like this:

 1) Create a tiddler called eg $:/_iframe/macro (It doesn't matter what you
 call it)
 2) Write something like this:
 \define iframe(url)
 iframe width=100% height=915 src=$url$ frameborder=0
 allowfullscreen/iframe
 \end
 3) Tag it with $:/tags/Macro

Now I can create an iframe with my pdf like this: iframe URL to my web
hosted pdf document in any tiddler.

A more involved version of the above macro could look like this:

 1)Tiddler title eg $:/_iframe2/macro/link/fullscreen
 2) Write:
 \define iframe2(url)
 [ext[Link|$url$]] {{$:/core/ui/Buttons/full-screen}}
 iframe width=100% height=900 src=$url$ frameborder=0
 allowfullscreen/iframe
 \end
 3) Tag it with $:/tags/Macro

Now I can create an iframe with my pdf like this: iframe2 URL to my web
hosted pdf document in any tiddler.
I'll get a link to the pdf document and a button to open the tiddler in
full screen mode at the top of the iframed pdf document.

If I fetch all my pdfs from the same location I will add a location
 snippet to the macro like this: src=http://MyWebAddress/$url$.pdf;
Then there is only very little to write: iframe filename.
Address and filetype is already set by the macro...

Hope some of this helps - enjoy :-)

 Cheers Måns Mårtensson

Re: [tw] TW5 CodeMirror bug when using Vim emulation

2015-05-18 Thread R Ax
Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the response.

I can't reproduce the bug on the tiddlywiki site because I can't save
changes there. To reproduce the bug yourself, do the following;

1. Create a new tiddler titled $:/config/CodeMirror.
2. Paste the following code into this new tiddler;

{
  require: [
  $:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/mode/javascript/javascript.js,
  $:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/addon/dialog/dialog.js,
  $:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/addon/search/searchcursor.js,
  $:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/addon/edit/matchbrackets.js,
  $:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/keymap/vim.js,
  ],
  configuration: {
  keyMap: vim,
  matchBrackets:true,
  showCursorWhenSelecting: true
  }
}

3. Set the type field of this tiddler to application/json.
4. Refresh for the changes to take effect.
5. If you now attempt to edit any tiddler, you will see a block cursor. Vim is
a modal editor and starts of in command mode.
6. Press the 'i' key. This will switch to insert mode. You can now type as for
a normal editor.
7. Entering the '#' or '~' key however should reproduce the error I described.

Further details on configuring CodeMirror (which is where I got the information
on setting it up from) are to
be found in $:/plugins/tiddlywiki/codemirror/usage.

Thank you so much for your help.

It is now set up so that hashover is used to take the comment input and on

 .backGainsboro{color: #000; background: #DCDCDC;}
 .backYellow30{color: #8B3A3A; background: yellow; font-size:30px;}

The idea is to show 'CAPON VALLEY RAILROAD' in a common type face and a

 the rest of the phrase.

I only want to do this for a few tiddlers; so I'm not looking for a

Can someone please send me to some links, etc. that have example

Re: [tw] An Easy Way to Create and Modify Plugins

2015-05-18 Thread Andreas Hahn
Okay, I updated the Tinka version on the site, the fields are now
present as well as some other stuff:

* The metadata section now include edit fields for the `name` and
`source` fields.

* The default search box now only searches for title matches.
* Backups can now be exported/downloaded.
* Backups can now be restored and made active again. If another version
of the plugin is already active, the option is given to back it up,
before restoring the backup.
''Warning: For this mechanism to work, there has to be an
'original-title' field present in the backup tiddler. This is
automatically added by Tinka, however earlier versions of Tinka did not
add this field. If you want to restore a backup from an earlier version
of Tinka, you will have to add the 'original-title' field manually and
populate it with the former title of the plugin tiddler, in order for
the restore function to work.''

As usual you can get the plugin here: http://twguides.org/tinka.html
