[tw] [TW5] Way to open certain tiddlers as draft by default?

2017-04-08 Thread Zyb
Dear all,

I’ve noticed that there is a group of tiddlers in my main TW that I only
ever open to edit them, like custom stylesheets or tiddlers that collect
data: I don’t *look* at their content, I just add to it and manipulate it,
so that other tiddlers do stuff with their content. It would add to my
productivity if any links to these tiddlers (especially those in the ToC)
would open them as drafts immediately, without the need to open them first
and then click on the edit button.

Is there a way to change all links of, say, tiddlers with a specific tag,
into edit links (button widgets, if I’m not mistaken)? Or that a clickable
edit icon is appended to the (normal) link?

I’ve been using TWC and TW5 for a long time and can understand some code,
but I don’t have experience programming plugins, so any hint is
appreciated! :)

All best,
Tyll

[tw] Is the Text following a span a child or a sibling?

2017-04-08 Thread Jan

Hello!
I want to realize an editor for screenwriting within TW and during that
process have come to a formatting/CSS question.

The dialogue-text after the role shall be indent. Now my question is
is the Text following a span a child or a sibling?

.role{text-transform: uppercase;}
.role > p{margin-left: 150px; font-style: italic;}

It shall be used within this construction

{{rolename}} Dialoguetext text..
Text Text

Where rolename is a transclude span with the class role...

Re: [tw] How to establish external link to get node icon in TiddlyMap (some hack or?)

2017-04-08 Thread Gordan Nia
Thnx, Felix!
I've just found that solution today (creating a new tiddler +
_canonical_url) you are talking about, and I'm satisfied with the
workaround. I wish that could be performed directly from node-tiddler, but
this is also OK.
Thanks again, and greetings from Croatia/EU!
Gordan

P.S. I am delighted with the concept and philosophy of TiddlerWiki, it
offers so many creative and integrative possibilities that I'm completely
overwhelmed by ideas. It is a totally quantum leap in approach,
organization and way of thinking for me...

Salut Alain,
I am longing to use your the completition-feature of your editor for
writing dialogues in scripts; I already made a new pattern for this.

Have you already figured out, why the Toolbar disappears?
At the moment I created a new Type called dialogue to use comptext...but
also there it would be very practical to create an xtra toolbar for the
roles actions and so on.

have you had the timme to figure out why the editor toolbar disappears

You can try/install it from

In the near futur you will be able to use UP and DOWN arrow

Hi Thomas,

I wouldn't have thought to look for this information inside a shadow
tiddler associated with a supporting plugin not part of the main ToDo
plugin.
But if I had, I still wouldn't have understood that within the context of
the Todo plugin ONLY those tags will be shown that are marked as "ToDo".

I'm glad you're attempting to document as you go along. Now I'll know
additional places to rummage for info.

Thanks!

Another suggestion. Add a final category for archived actions. This way the
"Done" category at the bottom won't become over-run by finished activities.
Maybe the report could use the "archived" items as well as the "done" items
for completeness.

[tw] Re: (Remake of previous) I need to center code, and turn off the formatting.

2017-04-08 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
This works if you set the tiddler type to text/html:

 __ __) /
(, ) | / /) /
   | /| / _ // _ ___ /
   |/ |/ _(/_(/_(__(_) // (__(/_ o
   / |

The standard tiddler format arbitrarily "eats" whitespace and interprets
some of those forward slashes as tag markers. I'm guessing that the TW5
parser is getting mixed up by the forward slashes when looking for embedded
HTML.

Hi Måns

We are getting closer. Here’s some brain-candy for you:

What your gray cells missed was the fact that every variant would need a
check-macro. Bit that was too complicated anyway.

Now I have generalized the check so it takes a second parameter called
"nextmacro" to define the following macro. The check itself was therefore
renamed to "gendercheck".

This worked for me.

Wish you a relaxing weekend!

Hi Thomas

I'm afraid some kind of "neuronic" overloading is what is happening to my
brain :-)

I tried this to get closer to what I want. I'm afraid it doesn't work this
way:

\define He-She-check(gendervalue:"_false_")
<$vars value="""$gendervalue$""">
<$set name="result" filter="[!prefix[_false_]]" value="He-She"
emptyValue="no-value">

[tw] Re: (Remake of previous) I need to center code, and turn off the formatting.

2017-04-08 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
It still a bit unclear what you trying to do.

For ASCII art its advisable to ENFORCE mono-spaced font. And set the type
to Plain text. Probably, also reduce the font size so the visuals hit
better.

There is a general mechanism in TW that lets you style individual tiddlers
anyway you want:
http://tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/#How%20to%20apply%20custom%20styles%20by%20tag

If you need to centre the design wrap it in a div with a class and centre
it.

[tw] Re: TW5 - Simple macro question: If fieldvalue is empty, true or false then render ...

2017-04-08 Thread Thomas Elmiger
Part 2: Assigning other values by calling a macro via a variable.

Code:

---

\define He-She-check(gendervalue:"_false_")
<$vars value="""$gendervalue$""">
<$set name="result" filter="[!prefix[_false_]]" value="He-She"
emptyValue="no-value">

<$macrocall $name=<> gendervalue=$gendervalue$ />

\end

\define He-She(gendervalue)
<$vars value="""$gendervalue$""">
<$set name="result" filter="[prefix[he]]" value="He" emptyValue="She">

result: <>

\end

\define no-value(gendervalue)

gender is not defined

\end

<$checkbox field="gender" checked="he" unchecked="she"> male

output: <$macrocall $name="He-She-check" gendervalue={{!!gender}}/>

---

In the check-macro we test, if the value is not empty in the same way as
before.
According to the test result we assign the name of the next macro we want to
call.
If we have a value, we go to the He-She macro and check, if the value is "he".
Then we generate a maching output "He" or "She".

O.k. for your brain?

All the best!
Thomas

2017-04-08 Thread Thomas Elmiger
Hi again Måns,

Now this time we are going to solve thad riddle!

Try this and I try to explain gor your brain ;–)

---

\define he-she-it(gendervalue:"_false_")
<$vars value="""$gendervalue$""">
<$set name="result" filter="[!prefix[_false_]]" value=<>
emptyValue="it">

result: <>

\end

<$checkbox field="gender" checked="he" unchecked="she"> male

output: <$macrocall $name="he-she-it" gendervalue={{!!gender}}/>

---

It all starts with the macrocall instead of the shorter <>
syntax. Frankly, I don’t know why.
If the input for the macro is empty, we assign the value "_false_" (maybe this
works only with the macrocall syntax).
We assign the input value to a variable so we can use it in the filter later.
The result is the output of a filter: if the input value does not (!) equal
"false" we assign the input value. Else the filter returns empty and we assign
"it". (You can of course change that to "gender unknown" if you like.)

Finally we generate the output starting with "result: …"

Hope that helps. More to come …

Cheers,
Thomas

(, ) | / /) /
   | /| / _ // _ ___ /
   |/ |/ _(/_(/_(__(_) // (__(/_ o

(It's Invita, from Figlet)
And I want to surround it with triple whatever-these-are: `
But centered. Is there a way to do this? (I do know that it will mess up a
bit, as it tries to center it, but I can use whitespace to mess with that.)

I want to map a lot of photos and present them as nodes in TiddlyMap (and
tiddlers as well), but to link them from an external directory. The problem is
that I can not get the icon of the external photo as icon of the node (external
link). I tried to do it through "field name-icon" and various "field values",
but I can not to establish the link to the external image that I want to use as
the node icon. I don't want to import images in html, just to link them from
external folder.

How would I implement this functionality to link external images as icon of a
node? Is there a hack or something (I'm new in TW philosophy)?

Thanks in advance!

Yes! That's exactly what I was looking for. I just couldn't track back the
required tiddlers for some reason.

Thanks, Stephen.

Side note: In case anyone is wondering why I don't just use a tag or create
a task list system, it's because I don't like to do things twice. So
highlighting text as I read/write it and having a list pull those text
blurbs is as simple as I can make it. I don't need to create a system to
generate and track a simple ToDo or research list. Although, I do have
those things for more complex tracking. I just use these simple lists as a
filter and jumping off point. If I work the lists and find something is
more complex, I escalate it.

[tw] Re: TW5 - Simple macro question: If fieldvalue is empty, true or false then render ...

2017-04-08 Thread Måns
Hi Thomas

Thank you very much for answering :-)
If I do it like this:

\define he-she-it(gendervalue:"_false_")
<$vars value="""$gendervalue$""">
<$set name="result" filter="[!prefix[_false_]]" value=<>
emptyValue="it" >
<>

\end

<$checkbox field="gender" checked="he" unchecked="she"><>

Nothing is shown when the field is either empty or doesn't exist.
It shows "he" when "he" is the value and "she" if "she" is the value.
It doesn't seem to do anything except rendering the fieldvalue when I use
it like this..

Actually I don't need the neutral state - just: he, she, He, She, his, her.
His Her computed from the state value (true or false) of a field (gender)
(If the field does not exist a default value like: "gender not known" would
suffice.

For convience I want to use short macros like <>, <>, <> and
<> to render different results..

To me it seems like it should/would be some very simple (understandable)
macro I should be able to string together with a few conditional "if's"
here and there and wikitext...
However I've been trying to do this in a TW for some years now - and I
always have to give up because it gets to complicated for my (brain) usage
:-)
It always ends up with shooting sparrows with cannons eg: using Library
tiddlers and what not ...

Thank you for trying to help me out - even if I don't understand the macro
definition you posted :-)

Cheers Måns Mårtensson

2017-04-08 Thread Thomas Elmiger
One of the vital things about #TiddlyWiki is …
it supports the efficient reuse of information.

[tw] TW5 - Simple macro question: If fieldvalue is empty, true or false then render ...

2017-04-08 Thread Thomas Elmiger
Forgot to mention: my solution works, if you store "he" or "she" as values in
the field "gender" and call my macro with this value as a parameter.

Of course this solves only one of your questions but maybe it helps as a
starting point.

[tw] TW5 - Simple macro question: If fieldvalue is empty, true or false then render ...

2017-04-08 Thread Thomas Elmiger
Hi Måns

In my strex macro I use someting like this:

\define he-she-it(gendervalue:"_false_")

<$vars value="""$gendervalue$""">
<$set name="result" filter="[!prefix[_false_]]" value=<>
emptyValue="it" >
<>

\end

Hope that works for you. (Not tested and composed on my mobile – watch out for
typos)

Cheers,
Thomas

Re: [tw] .tid.tid.tid....

2017-04-08 Thread Xavier Cazin
Hi Florian,

One way to get rid of this issue whithout updating to a pre-release version
of TiddlyWiki is to update the version of your nodejs. See the discussion
here: https://groups.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source
=footer#!msg/tiddlywiki/LK02DUdI-rQ/JGQUjwmLCQAJ

Best,
X.

[tw] TW5 - Simple macro question: If fieldvalue is empty, true or false then render ...

2017-04-08 Thread Måns
Hi TwWizards

I am attempting to create a couple of global macros which will allow simple
text templating.

My question is: How can a create a few simple macros which will render
different results depending on a fieldvalue in a tiddler?:

Tagged: $:/tags/Macro

\define name() {{!!surname}}

\define hs() If the value of the field gender is true then show: "he".
If gender is false then show: "she". If gender value is empty show: it
\end
\define Hs() If the value of the field gender is true then show: "He".
If gender is false then show: "She". If gender value is empty show: It
\end
\define hs'() If the value of the field gender is true then show: "his".
If gender is false then show: "her". If gender value is empty show: it's
\end
\define Hs'() If the value of the field gender is true then show: "His".
If gender is false then show: "Her". If gender value is empty show: It's
\end
\define gender() If the value of the field gender is true then show: "boy".
If gender is false then show: "girl". If gender value is empty show: boy/girl
\end

<>

<$checkbox field="gender" checked="true"
unchecked="false"><>

<>
<>
<>
<>

(As usual) I need some kind of "if-logic" ...

Cheers Måns Mårtensson

[tw] Re: Finicky Question (aka, Its Life, But Not As We Know It)

2017-04-08 Thread PMario
Hi Josiah,

I couldn't find the discussions either ... but I did find the github issue
that caused the config options:
https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/600

One reason also was, that changing the URL bar, also adds to the browser
history. ... See the discussion at the issue.

If the URL reflects the story list, it creates very long urls. So new users
got confused. ... So we changed it back to the default setting, with the "least
surprise
factor".

have fun!
mario
