[tw] Re: New User - Tiddler Manager Question

2017-06-02 Thread Birthe C
Than you Chad, your image and explanation made it so much clearer.
You might want to remove a tag from one or more tiddlers, and still have an
easy way of using it in other tiddlers.

"The tiddler manager is a new tool for version 5.1.14. From
http://tiddlywiki.com

new tiddler manager to support
tasks such as:

   - Reviewing and applying tags to a large number of tiddlers
   - Tweaking the custom colours and icons for a large number of tiddlers

The tiddler manager will be extended in the future to increase flexibility
and to add support for bulk operations."

That will be less confusing than hunting all the small tools a lot of us
are importing to do the job.

Hmmm. They apparently get added whenever you add a tag through the tiddler
manager. I can see where this would be useful for working on a particular
batch of tiddlers, but then become cumbersome as the list grows. There
needs to be a way to easily clear the list.

2017-06-02 Thread Chad Wells
As probably happens a lot, I believe I've found the answer to my own
question - taking a bit of a circuitous route to get there.

I did a search of the raw HTML for the phrases NPC - Rolent Landing Port
and Quartz - MIrage (the two unchecked boxes in the image).

Parsing a bit more, I found references between these two tags in the markup
corresponding to the: $:/config/Manager/RecentTags system tiddler.

Opening up $:/config/Manager/RecentTags, I found that these two entries
were defined as list entries and, thankfully, there is an option to delete
them.

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, it seems curious that tags not
used in any place within the wiki should show up as 'recent' and present
themselves in this fashion via Tiddler Manager, though there may be an
intended use for this that I do not understand.

You would not want to be without them. If you do not want to see them just

[tw] New User - Tiddler Manager Question

2017-06-02 Thread Chad Wells
Hello all,

First, don't be too harsh if this has been asked and answered previously.
I have done a few hours of searching and have not found a clear answer to
my issue/question.

Scenario:

Using the Tiddler Manager tool and selecting any Tiddler from the list, I
have leftover Tags (unchecked) hanging out in the Tags checkbox list at the
upper right. These (unchecked) tag options are displayed with every Tiddler
listed in Tiddler Manager. None of these tags are in use with any Tiddler
and these tags do not show up in Tag Manager whatsoever. As far as I can
tell, this is the only place these tags remain.

I'd like them to go away.

The tools I've found seem centered on removing or finding/replacing tags
that are associated with existing Tiddlers. That is not the case here.
They are 'orphan' tags not associated with anything.

I'd welcome any guidance, and I look forward to learning from this group (I
have a great deal already).

Thank you!

I think its much more than "slideshows" & "sliders". Its looking pretty

I'm trying to understand how you constructed your CSS Stylesheet for

 does
it automatically resize the font? Also how does the mechanism work when
 you
click to the next slide, but it just merely shows the next paragraph?

Me personally, I do not like delivering any slide where clicking the
next button only displays 1 additional line of text, so maybe this is not
the solution for me since I prefer to show single slides. Me personally it
would be easier for me to simply hit a button and have the presenter mode
pop out, but instead just being another way to view the tiddlers without
the sidebar, the tiddlers centered and I could just zoom in to focus the
audience on a particular section before moving onto the next topic.

But overall though, looks very good.

Hi Steven, Hi Mark,

thanks for testing my presenterPlugin.
In principle it is meant to provide a very simple way to turn existing
sets of Tiddlers into slideshows and to have multiple slideshows in one
wiki...your critique shows me that it is not intuitive enough right
now. In principle all useres have to do is
-to mark slides within the tiddlers too big for one slide (wich can be
easily done with an EditorToolbarButton I created) and

-to save the storyriver as a slideshow and

In the remotewindow you have the possibility to launch the actual
storyriver as a slideshow without saving.

Originally the possibility to define a parts of one Tiddler as
different slides was meant to turn existing long tiddlers into
slideshows without having to clone or divide them which I thought is not
practical for the workflow and the organisation of information.

It is quite long to explain in detail how the presenter works: It has a
different PageTemplate and reveal-mechanism than the usual display. (In
effect it uses a list of temporarily created slice-Tiddlers.) I guess
you should start with the pagetemplate if you want to understand what is
actually shown.

I would be happy if you gave me feedback what to change to make it
easier to use.

Re: [tw] Bundling - It would help - HOW to do it reliably?

2017-06-02 Thread wimm
just an idea

instead of exporting and importing plugins or bundless you could also delete
all unnecessary tiddlers (in a copy of your wiki).

this can be done by a button which deletes all "mundane" tiddlers except for
plugin and macro tiddlers.

pruning the remaining tiddlers is less work than d&d each individual tiddler

if interested I made a button with 2 search fields. Delete normal tiddlers
matching a string except tiddlers matching another string (if you want to
delete all normal tiddlers then the second string should be something like
22) tw 512.

In my situation, I always know what the max is, or what a reasonable upper

Now..l.. just have to try to understand WHY it works :)
Time for me to go re-read the filter pages.

I checked my hard drive, and have a 513 version practically unused (think I

[tw] Re: Is it possible to put the sidebar buttons at the top?

2017-06-02 Thread Steven Schneider
Matthew, this is great concept, thanks for implementing it.

I love the concept overall, which is to essentially redraw the page
template depending on the sidebar status.

I would agree the whole thing should be optional, almost like a show tools
button on the topbar that toggles the tools, kind of like the sidebar
button works for the sidebar.

Another thought: the TopBar could sit out in the right margin, outside the
story river (right word?), running down the wiki rather than across the
top. That way, it wouldn't be in the story river...?

I have that fact in mind. However, thank you for clarifying that it is not
intentionally left out.

I’d suggest don't waste time being surprised or disappointed; just jump in

Maybe disappointed was not the proper word, sorry about that. I think I
made clear several times that I really love tiddlywiki and I find it a very
valuable tool. I never invest so much time on it otherwise. I don't think
neither I'm the kind of person that only complains. I contribute as much as
I can, and If I don't do it more it's because lack of confidence.

Of course if I find a general solution for this absence I will contribute
with a pull request.

Regards
