Wonderful Jed,

Thank you for sharing! I love the Relations plugin and the way it handles

Hope to see your other plugins you mentioned above!

 Folks,

I have a little project where it would be helpful if I could create a

For example what if the template included ##name## then I had a macro
that would replace in the body of the new tiddler

- ##name## with Tony
- ##icon## with {{<>||$:/core/images/info-button}}
- etc...

I imagine if a set of such changes could be triggered by a button and
an action widget all the better.

I have other ways to achieve this but it would surprise me if the code
 was not already available somewhere.

 Any leads would be appreciated

[tw5] Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] file-backups plugin will be updated at: March 20th - Browser restart required!

2020-03-24 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
If I set the download directory to C:\, then I can set the backup directory
to /users/mark/temp/twbackups ... the file is saved and the backup works!

But if I set the download directory to D:\, and I set the backup directory
to /temp/twbackups ... the file is saved, but the backup appears in a
sub-directory of the target file, ignoring the specified backup path. This
may be related to D: being a network drive, EXCEPT for the next weird thing.

If I set the download directory to D:\, and I set the backup directory to
../../temp/twbackups ... the file is saved, AND the backup appears in the
designated directory. So, if it was a permissions thing, I wouldn't expect
that to work at all. The problem is, giving a path like ../../twbackups
will save to the wrong place as soon as I go down one more directory level.

My thought was that it would be possible to have one window set up to save
using the C: directory, and another windows (FF profile) set up to work
with the D: directory. But the backup for the D: directory is uncooperative.

Thanks!

These look marvelous, thanks so much for your ongoing contributions.

   - Is there any capacity to include the middle mouse click or roller?
   - Its not essential as you already provide a lot of functionality.

Out side of your examples what uses and actions do you think this will be
good for. So far this facility has not being easily available I wonder if
you imagination has explored the possibilities?

2020-03-24 Thread TonyM
Mark,

Perhaps you understand the following but for clarity.

Marios solution is one of the available ones, and takes a reduced
dependencies approach buy working with the permissions that the browser
gives to a tiddlywiki file. Your desire to customise and change folders is
understandable but by its nature incompatible with such customisations.

For example I do not use Marios worthy solution personally, because with my
computer use, I must be able chose to where I download things.

If you want to discuss other want to discuss other strategies just ask. I
expect you are aware of the following; All from my Windows position;

   - Timimi
   - tw-receiver on php
   - TiddlyServer
   - TiddlyDesktop
   - Bob/Bobeexe
   - TWexe
   - Others

Re: [tw5] Re: Tiddly Extension for Firefox 57?

2020-03-24 Thread TonyM
Alex,

That's good, I just know that has being the mistake of many.

Please consider starting a new thread on this problem because it is clearly
and exception to the old TiddlyFox problems.

You may find it useful if you have not already to start with a fresh
tiddlywiki and see if you can experience the almost seamless use of Timimi,
or move to one of a number of node solutions, or TW-Reciever on php. Once
you have experienced the "Modern" you will have a better understanding and
it will be easier to address a specific wiki failing to save.

Portableapps.com has a portable firefox if the problem could be in your
install of firefox.

Regards
Tony

Folks,

I am a modern sceptic and this demands I be sceptical or all claims until I
have evidence. Many of you raise serious concerns about Government or
Business responses in the current situation. I also refuse to claim a
specific left/right conservative/progressive ideology, because neither
prepackaged ideologies, always respond to evidence.

My sceptical brain also recognises a serious need to respond to this
pandemic based on science. This science and history itself points to a need
to have the population respond appropriately and consistently, and there is
no other organisation than the Government in most countries, who can apply
rules to every member of the population, all be it temporary.

Pandemics and disease in general, is by its nature about populations, we
don't normally think of our self as part of a population we tend to
restrict this to domestic farm animals and species in nature, or bacteria
etc... It is not common for many of us to consider how we as an individual
contribute towards the outcomes of the populations we live in.

We should always be critical and sceptical, but we can "walk and chew gum"
at the same time. We each need to recognise how we may need to temporarily
put aside personal freedoms, in the interest of our whole societies. I am
however concerned that healthy scepticism can quickly turn to cynicism by
the untrained, That may lead to unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, such
"backlash approaches" could undermine any evidence based strategies and put
at risk a large part of our populations.

Having being in the service of uncovering false claims, debunking
conspiracy theorists, alt-med and anti-vax in society and the community, I
can assure you if we do not dispute non-evidence based claims, from day one
"false beliefs", by a less informed population can develop like a "pandemic
of false ideas". As a responsible member of the Human race, we need to
remain vigilant not only of others ideas, but the quality of our own ideas.

In Sydney we saw 20 and 30 somethings gathering in large numbers at the
beach, big BBQ's and packed nightclubs, either ill informed or feeling
immortal, when they should have known better, these things are now banned
because individuals did not take responsibility, had they done so, these
bans would not be in place (at least yet).

There is a direct relationship between how much individuals take individual
responsibility and the need for the community/Government to take
responsibility, if individuals do not. Increased freedom is a result of
increased self responsibility. Freedom is useless to the dead.

Exercising one's individual freedom, to suspend some freedoms temporarily,
in the interest of our communities, is the "measure" of good and
intelligent people.

If humans wish to claim they are exceptional, and somewhat above raw in
tooth and claw nature then, it is their own nature they need to question,
and stand above.

Nature/the Universe/Gods have their laws and they are ever present, we will
be victims of our own hubris if we are not careful.

End of "informed rant"
Tony

Re: [tw5] Bug or feature in Tiddler Manager. tag do not disapear ..

2020-03-24 Thread TonyM
Jeremy,

Since I don't use the tag manager much I did not notice this.

   - This would be a nice model to enable the use of MRU's "Most Recently
   used" elsewhere.
   - I will build my own things following this idea

It is an example of "typical" requirements that tiddlywiki users and
designers may have, so a generic solution may be nice. Perhaps a macro or
widget one provides with a "state-tiddler" and value, and a matching way to
enlist the values. This could be added into the select widget actions as
well.

Just food for thought

Browser menus? I have no idea what you're talking about.

Admin Tools is in the right-side menu within TiddlyWiki.

[tw5] Re: Radiobutton as Makro

2020-03-24 Thread TonyM
Gerald,

If the Makrofile/tiddler containing the macro definition is tagged
with $:/tags/Macro then <> will be available in any tiddler.

However an alternative is to not define it as a macro but put your code in
a tiddler lets call it makrotemplate
then where you want to use it in any tiddler,
`{{||makrotemplate}}` the `||` says use the currentTiddler when
transcluding.

As long as a macro - or a template is designed to operate on the
currentTiddler it is easy to include it in any tiddler.

I hope this helps without giving too much information

Tony

For example what if the template included ##name## then I had a macro

I imagine if a set of such changes could be triggered by a button and

I have other ways to achieve this but it would surprise me if the code

 Any leads would be appreciated

I have had many encounters with Insurance companies throughout my life;
none of them pleasant or profitable.

The most irritating was being declined because I took a test that proved I
did not have a "prior" condition. Turned out that taking the test was
deemed to an "abnormal" act. As a result I was declined. The decline was
noted in a database that is shared by all Insurance companies. Being
declined by one meant declined by all.

At this time, my only use of Insurance is for Business Succession planning
which the Insurance monopoly lobby offers as an alternative that reduces
taxation by government at time of death.

Fortunately, I am now in a position to be "self-insuring" for the majority
of health needs.

Right -- in fact you can't set a download directory to C:\ without changing
this. So it has never been set to "Always ask..." in any of the tests that
I have mentioned.

After the save, a green banner opens, that tells you, you need to open the

Ok, I just realized that I can use ../.. to back out of the current
directory. So that works. I don't need to send the backups to a different
physical drive. Just one single point where they're not part of the weekly
backup plan.

No, I'm not talking about the red dialogue. I'm talking about the download
path directory. It gets outlined with red when you try to put an absolute
directory in. But I see now that I can use ../.. to select some other
directory, so I think it's going to work.

I wasn't talking about the original source file. I was talking about the
files in twbackups. I want them to save somewhere else. I don't want them
to save in the original files' directory or sub-directory because that will
cause more maintenance headaches.

For instance, tiddlydesktop has a backup, and I just set it to send the
backups to a directory on a drive that has lots of free space. I don't have
to worry about remembering to delete the backup set before doing a physical
backup.

I only know that syncthing takes a long time to run. I think it's because
it has to evaluate all those files and compare them with the other file
system. So the more files it has to compare, the longer the process takes.

Thanks for your time. I think the problem with saving had something to do
with the backups, so if it happens again I'll just clean out the twbackups
directory for that file.

Thanks!

[tw5] [TW5] Two plugins, Mousey - a mouse widget like the keyboard widget, and Relations - track relationships between things

2020-03-24 Thread Jed Carty
I made these a while ago after being asked for them and forgot to actually
post the results.

The Mousey plugin lets you put actions on mouse events. Click, double
click, right click, mouse down, mouse up, enter and leave are supported.
See the examples for what all that means.
https://ooktech-tw.gitlab.io/plugins/mousey/

The Relations plugin lets you do things like set up family trees for more
interesting (or if you want, non-traditional) family trees, or roads
between towns or any number of things. It lets you set up a graph with
directed or undirected edges if you want it in graph theory terms. See the

No, it isn't graphical.

I probably have a few more things that I haven't bothered to release yet, I
am looking through my stuff.

Re: [tw5] Re: Tiddly Extension for Firefox 57?

2020-03-24 Thread Vayira
I'm experimenting with MainTiddlyServer as an option as it will never
depend on browsers & extensions etc and works locally and remotely with a
single 70k file. https://yakovl.github.io/MainTiddlyServer/index.html
It works like a dream on my remote server. On my local server I got 2 kinds
of error messages, but because I understand php I was able to fix them.
They didn't affect functionality however.

To run it locally you need php installed. I've opted for installing php
alone & using its internal server so that I don't need to run apache.

[tw5] Re: External images on Google Drive

2020-03-24 Thread Mohammad
Mark,

What I wrote is to directly display an image from Google Drive!
There is no need to use the plugin for the example I gave in the above post.

SRF88 can try that to see if the link to GDrive is correctly given or not!

I think that plugin just helps you wrap shared images appropriately.

To download from GH, click on the "tiddlers" folder. Then click on
the $__plugins_zimiarh_extimg.tid link. Right click on the "Raw"
button and then select "save link as" to download the tiddler.

Find the downloaded tiddler and drag and drop into your TW file (a
green bar should appear as you drag, that tells you it's ok to drop).

Import the tiddler. Save your TW file. Reload. A new icon appears
over in the sidebar, that will help you create links to SHARED images
 on
 gdrive.

[tw5] Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] file-backups plugin will be updated at: March 20th - Browser restart required!

Please check your browser option: "Always ask you where to save files" ..
It should be _not_ checked.

This should only happen, if you open a file from eg: C:\Documents and want
to save it back to c:\Documents

Since web-extensions can only directly save to C:\Downloads folder *_and_
subfolders*, the dialogue saves it there.

After the save, a green banner opens, that tells you, you need to open the
"newly" saved TW from the browser downloads folder.
This is the location where file-backups can save to.

On another issue, what path can you give fb to tell it to save in an
> absolute location?
>

That's not possible (because of browser security concerns) and it's not
needed.

 - Open the OS file explorer and move your TW into the "*downloads*" folder
or a *subdirectory*
 - Double click - to open it
 - The save will automatically save it back to the subdirectory, if it was
opened from there.

> Every path I try gives me the red outline.
>

The "red" dialogue is opened, if a TW file from the same location and name,
is opened in 2 or more browser tabs.
If 2 tabs edit the same file, this can lead to data loss. That's why there
is the red banner.

> There are many reasons a person might not want to save in the same
> directory as the original file.
>

*If you want to get a download dialogue everytime* you save the wiki, you
shouldn't use addOns at all. They are all designed to overwrite the
existing file. That's the only reason, why we created them.

*You can use the browser default save mechanism. *

 - Open browser "options" settings
 - scroll down to "Always ask you where to save files"
   - activate it

And the browser will start to ask you, where you want to save the file,
everytime you change something.
I personally think this is annoying if the TW "autosave" option is active.

> For one thing, it means the "real" backup to a separate drive will be

>

Please have a closer look at the file-backups homepage
and see, how the "Tower of Hanoi"
backup mechanism works.
There is a maximum number of backup files, which will be created + rarely
created "out of order" backups, if a new file name is identified.

I personally think, it gives us a nice balance between the number of backup
files and
the "time-span" those backups can cover.

Also see:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backup_rotation_scheme#Tower_of_Hanoi

The working drive may have less capacity than the backup drive.
>

That's true but most OS systems have a possibility to transparently
"compress" subdirectories on the OS level. Which uses about 350kByte for
empty.html and 1.9MByte for a tiddlywik.com like TW.

> There is more overhead when running dropbox or syncthing.
>

That's true but you don't need to sync the backup directory for dropbox,
since it brings its own versioning system for the "original" file. There is
no need to backup the backups. This will unnecessarily increase the used
disk-space which has to be paid.

As far as I know, syncthing only syncs files (or even segments of files)
that have been changed, which doesn't happen too often for the eg. D, E, F
.. backups of file-backups. So only parts of the "original" and the backups
actually go over the wire.

Again - Have a look how the Tower of Hanoi mechanism works.

have fun!

Re: [tw5] Re: Tiddly Extension for Firefox 57?

2020-03-24 Thread Alex S. Garcia
>- yes, Timimi works with it in modern FireFox (with several minor

I just tried Timimi. Though installation seemed to work (got the "Hello there
/ Have a great day" message) I still get an error message when I try to save
changes to a TW file.

I removed all other TW related plugins to make sure there weren't any
conflicts, but no luck.

Maybe I'm doing this wrong though... how do you save? I'm trying to use the
usual "save changes" links under Admin Tools, should I use something else?

Oh and Yakov, BTW, I tried to post about my saving issues on the TWC list back
in December, but my mail did not go through because the list is set up as a
forum rather than a mailing-list.

[tw5] Re: External images on Google Drive

2020-03-24 Thread SRF88
I'm on Mac.

Everything happened as per the download instructions. Though when I tried
it again I realised that the file had been given a .txt extension. I
deleted the additional extension and when I dragged and dropped I was
prompted to save and refresh, which I did. The plugin is now in the plugin
tab - perfect.

I created an image using a 'shareable link' but I just get a '?' icon
instead of my image. I will see if I can work this out.

Thank you for all of your help!

[tw5] Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] file-backups plugin will be updated at: March 20th - Browser restart required!

2020-03-24 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
I was having trouble with one specific file. file-backups wanted to revert
to a "save-as" dialog. I finally got it to save by opening from file
explorer. This gave the fb warning that there were two versions open. Then
I could use the 2nd version and save. I'm thinking there was some
background conflict with backups, but dunno. There is some issue,
sometimes, which I know is incredibly vague.

On another issue, what path can you give fb to tell it to save in an
absolute location? Every path I try gives me the red outline. There are
many reasons a person might not want to save in the same directory as the
original file. For one thing, it means the "real" backup to a separate
drive will be longer. The working drive may have less capacity than the
backup drive. There is more overhead when running dropbox or syncthing.

Thanks!

Mark,
I could link to GDrive image using your description on WIndows 10.
Getting the correct link from google drive is tricky.

This link may help:

2020-03-24 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Did the tid download, per the instructions, do you see it in your downloads
directory?

Did you drag the file again, and drop it when the green bar appeared? Did
you see the green bar?

After your dragged and dropped, did a tiddler appear called $:/Import?

In that tiddler, did you click on "Import" ?

I forgot to ask -- are you on Windows?

Find the downloaded tiddler and drag and drop into your TW file (a

Import the tiddler. Save your TW file. Reload. A new icon appears over

[tw5] Re: External images on Google Drive

2020-03-24 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
I think that plugin just helps you wrap shared images appropriately.

To download from GH, click on the "tiddlers" folder. Then click on the
$__plugins_zimiarh_extimg.tid link. Right click on the "Raw" button and
then select "save link as" to download the tiddler.

Find the downloaded tiddler and drag and drop into your TW file (a green
bar should appear as you drag, that tells you it's ok to drop).

Import the tiddler. Save your TW file. Reload. A new icon appears over in
the sidebar, that will help you create links to SHARED images on gdrive.

Hi Mario,
This is really a tricky and clever solution using wikitext!

[tw5] Re: wikitext table formatting

2020-03-24 Thread PMario
Hi,

*Be aware!*

At the moment rows and columns are "hardcoded" ... So if you change your
table, your macro params have to be changed too!
So the whole thing can be error prone, if you use a lot of different
colours.

BUT for a little bit of colouring it should be OK.

have fun!

Hi,
I did a fast experiment, following an idea. Drag and Drop import the
attachment into tiddlywiki.com or your wiki and you can play with it.

The macro call looks like this:

<>

It looks like this:

The only thing your table needs is a leading

|myClass |k ... line ... myClass can be different for every table

I think I can tweak it a little bit and create a proper plugin! Or may be a PR
for the core.

With a JS-macro we could probably make it even more powerfull.

have fun!

[tw5] External images on Google Drive

2020-03-24 Thread SRF88
Hi all,

First of all, apologies for the simple question but I am quite far out of
my comfort zone here.

I have been using TiddlyDesktop for a while, I use a lot of photos to
illustrate my note taking so I use inks to external photos. To make the
TiddlyWiki more accessible I have experimented with moving it to Google
Drive, this has been successful using Tiddly Drive BUT i cannot figure out
how to link my images.

I have come across this plugin that might help
https://github.com/zimiarh/tiddlywiki-external-image but have no idea how
to install it!

Or is there a more simple way of linking external images on Google Drive?

Sorry if this question has been answered before, I had a search and could
not find the answer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sam

[tw5] Re: Tiddler translate by Google button

2020-03-24 Thread Mohammad
Hi A. Gloom,
I did a little modification to your original solution and attached it to
simply translate every tiddler you like.

   1. drag and drop the attached tiddler into your wiki. This tiddler is
   called *template/translate*
   2. tag any tiddler you like to get the TRANSLATE button with *translate*
   3. a button will appear at the bottom of tiddlers tagged with *translate*
   4. click the button, the Google Translate will be opened with your text
in source language and its translation in the target language
   5. the current languages are set to *en-US > fa-IR*
   6. to change source and target languages, open the *template/translate*
tiddler and in the first two line set the source and target languages as
   you like

Thank you A Gloom.

Probably ranges BUT I have to have a closer look at the CSS docs ;)

[tw5] Tiddler translate by Google button

2020-03-24 Thread A Gloom
A way to translate tiddler content by leveraging Google translate-- button
opens Google Translate in a separate window prefilled with instructions
that can be translated -- to instruct fo simply paste (control-V) which
will insert the tiddler's text (which was loaded into clipboard by the
translate button) so the tiddler's text can be translated quickly and
easily in 3 steps-- click button, select language to translate to, read
translated instruction and paste which will translate the tiddlers
contents. A macro is planned

*The copy to clipboard param can also be a macro with the text to translate
if you only wish to translate a portion of the tiddlers text*

<$button message="tm-copy-to-clipboard" param={{!!text}} tooltip='Use
Google Translate to translate tiddler and instructions'>
<$action-sendmessage $message="tm-open-external-window"
$param="https://www.google.com/search?&q=translate%3A+%22paste+%28control-V%29+to+insert+instructions%22&oq=translate%3A+%22paste+%28control-V%29+to+insert+instructions%22

[tw5] Re: Creating tiddlers and programmatically modifying them?

2020-03-24 Thread Flibbles
Why doesn't it work?

I'm unsure whether you want $(name)$ to be replaced during creation, or if
you want to copy `\define code-tiddler() $(name)$` exactly as is, but
either way, you can include pragma inside the body macro.

\define body()
\define code-tiddler() $(value)$

Dear $(name)$,

I write to inform you that your pet, $(pet)$ has filed for emancipation.
\end

$(value)$ here will remain as-is unless `value` is defined. If it IS
defined, it'll replace, so you can get either way you want it, I'd think.

There are many applications it will, but perhaps not this one.

[tw5] Additions for Mohammad's Covid-19 TW

The first of additons for the Covid-19/pandemic TW that Mohammad created:

Public Health Agencies search tiddler version 2 (incorporating some core

This can be used in any other TW as well, its fully self contained and will

tiddlers as its used.
It was created with the idea of his work becoming a general pandemic safety
guide (there will be others in the future, SARS, bird flu, etc were wakeup
calls-- Covid 19 is a sucker punch)

This tiddler draws from the reference wikis search of Ref Collective and
takes advantage of Google having an OpenDirectory type result for searches
for government agency-- guarantying those links will appear first in search
results.
There's also a tentative translate function leveraging Google translate--
which opens Google Translate in a separate window prefilled with
instructions that can be translated to simply paste (control-V) which will
insert the tiddler's text (which was loaded into clipboard by the translate
button) so the tiddler's text can be translated quickly and easily.
A bookmarks section (with editor and search) for saving links for future
use. (made possible by Jed Carty's code)

There's still work that needs to be done (more leveraging of core lingo for
internationalization) but the tiddler is functional. (except for
annotations for bookmarks-- have to add annotation creation to the
bookmarks editor-- but bookmarks can be created/saved/edited/listed &
searched)

next: version 3 and a fact check tiddler

Conclusion you illness is your own fault, we can not cover you.

For years people having more seldom illnesses or multiple illnesses that we
do not know enough about have been called Functional Disorders. In reality
treated in more and more clinics by psychiatrists. "It is all in the inside

Then people are not getting insurance and are left to themselves. Getting

It might be true for some people but not for the majority. In medical
history many illnesses have been called hypochondria, but science later
proved that not to be true.

Register science looking for data can be an important thing, but science
used to be so much more.

2020-03-24 Thread Jeremy Ruston
The recent tags are stored in the tiddler $:/config/Manager/RecentTags, and you
can just delete it to get rid of it. There’s a limit of 12 tags at the moment,
which is hardcoded in $:/Manager/ItemSidebar/Tags

Best wishes

[tw5] Re: Trying to use Tiddlywiki on Firefox, unsuccessful yet.

2020-03-24 Thread Renaud B.
You found the problem PMario, it seems there is a bug with saving TW in a
folder named with "special caracters", in my case if I rename the folder
/home/renaud/Telechargements/ instead of /home/renaud/Téléchargements/
(which the default Downloads folder on this system), or if a put the TW
file in any folder named with basic characters, Timini saves the TW
correctly. I haven't tried with file-backup. I guess this bug should be
addressed for people like me who has set their OS locale to something else
than english.

Thanks for your help!

I did some tests and it seems it is a problem with the existing TiddlyWiki
saver, which is active prior to any saver AddOn. So probably every addOn
saver that uses the TiddlyFox saving mechanism has the same problems here.

I need to have a fast look at Timimi's and "savetiddlers" source code, to
know if the both have the same problem.

2020-03-24 Thread TonyM
Mario

I already did support that Mario. It would help.

I have found that unless I can automate building things like new novel buttons
or build templates it consumes too much time.

If you look at the core buttons as an example they are not strait forward.

The tip of using a macro for the body and $(variable)$ references is a good
one. I have a macro that converts all fields on a nominated tiddler to
variables which would work well with this. One reason its good is all values
are represented with the same standard, no need to choose between variable,
field or tiddler references

I am also keen to enable users, non tiddlywiki enthusiasts to build forms or
templates to generate output like one may do with a mail merge so finding an
easy template language that I feed with data from tiddlers would be nice. Like
someone writes a letter and inserts active variables.

Tony

2020-03-24 Thread TonyM
On renaming tiddlers

Relink is a marvelous tool, however Personaly I do not have a problem renaming
tiddlers because of a standard naming practice. I am always careful to separate
code with fixed names and data free to rename. Truth is I bring decades of
coding experience to this but I wish I could mind meld with few of you to pass
it on.

Not withstanding this I have forseen issues in some very specific cases and
already have solutions. The most powerful with lots of additional benefits is.
TSN tiddler serial number which is set once and never changes so when you want
a permanent rename open link you can have it.

Nor would it be hard to provide a whole suit related tools, already we could
make use of the TSN , alias plugin and Relink not only to free tiddler names
but open up some really cool features.

The only directory setting in file-backups is the *backup directory*. ...
It *is always relative* to the open TW file.

So if you use E:\ in the browser setting as your downloads directory ...

open E:\myWikis\test.html

there will be a

The "new" "out of order" save.
 - E:\myWiki\twBackups\test.html\test(A).html .. test(B).html ... and so

This makes it possible to have several different test.html + their backups.

[tw5] Re: Bug or feature in Tiddler Manager. tag do not disapear ..

2020-03-24 Thread vpl
Hi,

Here is how to reproduce simply the test. I've used an empty TW5 freshly
downloaded from the Web site

- create tiddler "test-1" with tag "tag-1"
- create tiddler "test-2"
- in the tiddler-Manager assign "tag-1" to tiddler "test-2"
- in the tiddler-Manager un-assign "tag-1" from tiddler "test-2"
- remove completely tiddler "test-1"
- Open the tag-manager
   - There is no tag at all listed. Fine
- Open the tiddler-manager and select "test-2"
* - The tag "tag-1" is still There*

Looks strange to me as "tag-1" is not assigned any more to any tiddler (as
the tag manager shows). Why do we keep it in the tiddler manager ?

Thanks for your help

Regards

Vincent

Re: [tw5] Re: Tiddly Extension for Firefox 57?

2020-03-24 Thread Yakov
Hi everybody,

considering TiddlyWiki Classic:

   - yes, Timimi works with it in modern FireFox (with several minor
issues, but generally it works even better than TiddlyFox)
   - yes, I and Mark Kerrigan recently put most of the saving methods
   together at
   https://classic.tiddlywiki.com/#%5B%5BSetting%20up%20saving%5D%5D . In the
future that one will probably be simplified (for instance, once I adapt
Timimi to Chrome there probably will be no much need in other extensions,
except for cases of strict security limitations; yet the richer ecosystem
   is, the better)
  - old FireFox (pre 54) with TiddlyFox is also an option, it's just
somewhat outdated, so is not included into the list
  - if you need more assistance, I invite you to the
   https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/tiddlywikiclassic group
   - I haven't tested Beaker Browse, so if anybody shares experience of
using it with TWC (especially in the TWC group), I'll be thankful

Best regards,

Yakov.

[tw5] SURVEY: what could a guude TW have that may be lacking in current Covid information resources

2020-03-24 Thread A Gloom
in current Covid information resources such as sites, news outlets, social
media

One thing i can think of-- and will be making a tiddler for Mohammad's
Covid TW-- is a guide on fact-chacking whats being passed around on social
media and by word of mouth. It will be a simple tiddler-- a general
advisory guide to double check everything against official sources and
having links to FactCheck & Snopes and articles about how easily false
information is generated and spread.

Everyone sound off...

[tw5] Re: Relink, and setting up button widgets for modals

my apologies CJ, got sidetracked-- ooh, a snippet of code... navigate the
recesses of your sponge to see what neat little things I can add to my own
sponge.

Is "orgname" = "original title"? Not much use to me, I think, because I

my original idea was to have a changelog field with automatic redirect for
any code snippets through the wiki, but I was using tiddler title which
when changed would break the reference to the title being used in code
snippets -- orgname = original name

the idea was because-- for me-- i often have tiddler titles in filters and
wikitext elements (tabs, select, checkbox, etc) that I have to do a manual
text field search for to edit whenever I change a tittler title

but having a field for MANUAL recording of title changes is the best I have
at the moment because to have it automatic would require enlist operation I
believe to tack on additonal title changes without overwriting previous
changes
