[tw] Re: saving checked html form checkboxes in a tiddler?
Hi, Eric - So I've got your checckboxes working, and they save whether they are checked or not when I close and then reopen the tiddler, which is great! I'm trying to follow your thorough documentation, but some of it is a bit over my head, I'm sorry to say. If I have more than one checkbox in the same tiddler, which is what I would like, now when I check one of them, they all automatically check themselves (before they wreck themselves... ha!), and I'd like them to be checkable individually, instead of all as one unit. Do you know how I can fix this, or what I am missing or doing wrong? Sorry to bug you when you've already taken the time to write all the documentation. I'm sure I'm just missing something. Thanks!!! [tw] saving checked html form checkboxes in a tiddler?
Hi, Dears - So! I am happily using my various TiddlyWikis for various projects, and am now wanting to replace my use of HabitForge with the use of my mGSD TW + NudgeMail. I made a tiddler in my mGSD that has 21 html checkboxes all in a row, with the name of the tiddler corresponding with the name of the habit I am trying to form. How I would like this all to work is that when I get my NudgeMail self-sent message in my email inbox in the morning, asking me if I did a good job working on my habit the previous day, I'd like to be able to have included in that email the permalink to that particular tiddler related to that habit, with it's 21 checkboxes, so I could click on the permalink, my mGSD would automatically open to the right tiddler in a new browser window, and I would then check one of the checkboxes, if I did do a good job on the habit. If I hadn't done a good job the previous day on the habit, I would simply then uncheck all of the previously checked checkboxes, and start over (as HabitForge forces you to do, if you respond with a 'no'). The only problem is, when I check any of the checkboxes, and then close the tiddler with those boxes checked, when I open the same tiddler again, none of the boxes are checked anymore. The checkboxes are not linked to any actual form, and I do not know how to build real forms that email results or anything like that. I just know how to include form elements in regular html. Is there any way to make it so the tiddler will retain the information of whether the checkbox was checked or not, between closing and re- opening the tiddler? Thanks for any help! Yaay! [tw] TiddlyWiki file can't / won't / is not saving... eep!
I'm trying to save my changes using a PC (I usually use a Mac), which I'm pretty sure is running Windows Vista. The error message I'm getting is: [JavaScript Application] "Failed to save main TiddlyWiki file. Your changes have not been saved." Any thoughts? Do I need to change some Firefox setting? Thanks for any help!!! Susanna p.s. I can upload a dropbox file of an older version of my tiddlywiki, if that would help? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] Re: some general help?
Hi, all - Your fixes have been amazing and so helpful and have breathed new life into my TW experience and I am all fired up and working on perfecting my multiple TWs again. Thanks so much for all your help! I have some more questions, some of them quite finicky! But what can I say, I'm a perfectionist... Here is the TW I'm currently working on: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6152321/Firemaker%20Demo%20TW.html And here are my questions (so far): 1. I have slider-buttons in the mainMenu on the left, and when I click on one of the three slider buttons, a little dashed rectangle appears around the button, signifying it was the last item clicked upon. Ideally, I would like to set this so that those dashed rectangles simply do not show up, but if there is no way to do that, the main thing that is irking me about it right now is that once the slider- button is clicked and the sub-navigation appears (normal non-button links), and you click on a normal link, the little dashed rectangle that shows up around the normal sub-nav links in the mainMenu are missing their right-hand sides of the rectangle. This looks sloppy to me and is driving me slowly insane. Like I said, picky, right? :) This is not a problem in Safari, and the rectangles don't show up there at all. But in Firefox, they are there and annoying... Anyone know how to make these little rectangles go away? Or make them have all four sides, at least? 2. In the "Welcome & News" tiddler, which is set as the only defaultTiddler right now, if you look at the view section, you'll see that I am trying to get the twitter feed to work, but for some reason it isn't working... I know it is possible, as Eric's TiddlyTools has some twitter feed going on. Am I doing something wrong? 3. Is there any way to get a space between the word "search" and the search bar, up there in the siteSubtitle? 4. As an example, again in the "Welcome & News" tiddler, if there are multiple tags, they are now kinda pushing up against any header lines... can this be fixed somehow? I think this somehow went haywire when I was trying to change colors... 5. I'm sure I have more, but those are a good start. :) 6. Thanks so much! Hi, whatever and Bauwe! Thanks so much for your help! I had set google groups to notify me when anyone replied to this thread, and for some reason I either set it wrong or the notification didn't work so I only just saw your replies. [tw] some general help?
hello again, tobias and all! way back here (http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/ thread/97fd9e6bbe0ef4f/e9bdde638fc46797? hl=en&lnk=gst&q=sanna#e9bdde638fc46797 ) tobias had advised me to stage my problems via dropbox, so here we go! thanks for any help any of you can give okay... long story short, i've still been using my tiddlywikis for personal use, and really happy that i am. my laptop is now (kinda) running linux, and i've been fighting with that a lot, and unable to use dropbox. but! while i have dropbox right now while on a different computer, i'm going to give you all this link, and ask for some more of your wonderful help! so, here is the mock-up tiddlywiki i made that has a lot of what is going wrong in it, and might give you an idea about what i am trying to do: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6152321/Sanna%27sDemoTW.html as you can see, i am trying to have a table for the main menu, with a right-aligned and left-aligned column of the things i want to click on most often. if you click on any of them, though, they show up where they would in a newly downloaded default tiddlywiki, and i haven't been able to figure out how to get them to move over to the right and give the table some room. if you go to the MainMenu tiddler and click edit, you'll see what i mean, as a for instance. ideally, i'd also like the "go to" search bar at the top of the main menu table to span both columns. i tried to do this with normal html, and it isn't responding, unless i did something wrong. i also want the default to be that the sidebar is hidden, and haven't been able to get that to work, either. i've been struggling with turning off the shadow in the header area, where the text is really hard to read. and ideally, those "close all / new tiddler / new journal / save changes / hide >>" links would have a little space in between them, wouldn't have outlined boxes around them, and would be centered on the header (right to left), as opposed to left-aligned. also, when i save changes, i hate the colors that the little pop-up box and its text and background have. obviously, i've figured out how to change them, but i haven't figured out how to separate them out from some of the other colors i have chosen. unfortunately, it's been awhile since i created this demo TW, so i'm not recalling exactly what i did to mess around with the colors to the extent that i so far have... also, back to the main menu's table, i'd like the "+ tiddler" to be on the same line as the "index" link, and so on, all the way down the table, but despite having the same number of s in each column, they won't line up properly. thoughts? also, i'm trying to be able to have multiple columns in the tiddlers, and had seen a plug-in for that, and now can't find it. anyone know where it is? thanks so much! you all are awesome! sanna -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] getting buttons and links to work in a table...
hi, all - so i have another question already. :) i am trying to turn my mainMenu into a table. i've got the table all HTMLed into the mainMenu tiddler, and i copied and pasted the old links and buttons i had (which were working fine) from the old mainMenu into my new table, and now it seems like the buttons and double-bracketed links don't work within the tag. is there an easy way around this? if it isn't an easy answer, then sometime in the next couple days i'll get a version of what i'm trying to do onto dropbox, so i can show you... and yes, i have a good reason for wanting a table in my mainMenu. it will be just beautiful. once it works, that is. :) goodnight, sweet cats. sanna -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] Re: some questions and thank yous!
you guys are really great! thanks for all the links and suggestions!! Måns - i tried the button coding you gave me, and it worked! yaay! thanks so much! the new worksheet one worked just as you described, and the new tiddler without any default text prompt i couldn't get to work right, so i tried: <> and that worked. :) passingby - i've definitely thought about using linux. i've even gone as far as downloading the linux file i wanted to try, and attempting to burn to a cd to give it a trial run. for some reason, the linux file i wanted to use was just barely bigger than what can be burned to a normal cd, and all the documentation i found was suggesting i use a normal cd, not a dvd (and anyway my computer won't burn to a dvd). i haven't looked into it since, and i am sure i could figure out a way to solve it... but i haven't bothered to, partly because it was already taking a lot of time to research linux and decide what i wanted, and partly because i tend toward perfectionism and i figure if i start using linux, then i would need (or at least *feel* the need) to learn the back-end coding so i could use it the way it was meant to be used. i will definitely learn more css. i already know a little (or could create classes and get them to work and reference them on the html sites i've built), but i'm rusty. what you say makes sense, that it is best to leave the plugin as is (and probably easier to later change the appearances all in one place). thanks! i'll check out firebug or something similar... Tobias - thanks for all your tips and links! i will check them out... i'm not sure what you mean by 'staging' the issues i have... stage it, like display it? i do have dropbox. is there a general tiddlywiki dropbox account used for this purpose that i could be invited to? or would i need to set one up? you guys are awesome! thanks again! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] some questions and thank yous!
hout messing with my text content? or ?? + i am also wanting to get certain new tiddlers to open with certain text prompting already in it (basically an 'open new worksheet' link that would open a new tiddler that already had certain text i'd written, and then blanks i could fill in, which would not be text field form boxes, but would just start a new line, if that makes sense). i assume i would have to do something like find where the 'new journal' command lives, copy that, call it something else like 'new worksheet,' copy the code but change the default text to have the content i want, and then put a <> command in the sidebar. is this in the source code also? is there a plugin that does this for me? i kind of thought i'd seen something that does this the first time i was perusing tiddly vault, but since then, i haven't been able to find it. i guess the 'add contact info' plugin(s?) would also be similar, but twab seems pretty complicated, at least in that it has multiple tiddlers to import. + i am able to get the sidebar to toggle, but am unable to get it to default to 'hide.' i followed what i understood of the documentation, but it hasn't worked for me so far. is this the kind of thing i should ask about here, or is it better protocol to email the person who wrote the plugin code directly? + i'm not getting the 'embed twitter feed' script to work, even though i am using exactly what twitter spit out for me when i followed their instructions... is this likely due to my old OS, or do i need a special plugin to get something like that to work properly? + i am sure i have loads of other questions, but for the moment, that seems like a plenty long enough start. :) hope you all are well! thanks so much! sanna -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group.
