That's why I once changed my edit views to use monospaced fonts.

But anyway: If it's lots of text in tables, maybe some other approach would
be better suted? Could you, for example, put the texts into individual
tiddlers which you aggregate into the table?

1. Is there a TW Developers post somewhere I can read which shows how to
write javascript queries, so I can ask more intelligent questions for
things like

1. 1. creating a list of tiddlers and their titles which have a tag (this I
can do)

1. 2. aggregating tiddlers into a table?

1. 3. Adding items to a dropdown

1. 4. adding items to a dropdown dyanamically, say for example if they have
the project tag? or if they have both the "task" and "done" tags add them
to a dropdown?

Having seen a lot of examples of what people have done with TWC and TW5 I
am inspired to modify the standard TW5 and create my own for managing tasks
and projects. One that recently caught my eye was
http://nocategories.net/tiddlywiki/bestrew.html where Dylan I believe has
integrated a HTML table with wikitext inside the column and row elements to
display the tiddler fields.

I have been shown how to create the buttons, but I cannot create a static
or dynamic dropdown. I also do not know how to in my below example, create
a list of tasks without an assigned project?

1. a button for new task tiddler (tagged with task), title of tiddler will
be the task name. From the new Task tiddler you would be able to assign it
to an existing project using a dropdown or create a new task that doesn't
have an associated project.

Many Thanks,

Josh

I cobbled my tables together somewhat manually and I would say that if I
knew of a faster/easier way, it might have gone faster. The HTML table I
borrowed was already styled for TW5 (not the class values in the HTML
markup). I copied it from the HTML used to present fields metadata in the
"get info" view. I cleaned out the contents of the table and wrapped it in
some TiddlyTags to make it display my own custom fields. Here's a cleaner
example of the markup I used. In this example, I'm getting all the tiddlers
tagged "submission" and then building out a table to list each of those
tiddlers' custom fields:

<$list filter="[!has[draft.of]sort[title]tag[submissions]!is[system]]">

 Work Submitted

 <$edit field="sub_work" type="select">

 Venue Sent

 <$edit field="sub_venue">

 Status

 <$edit field="sub_status">

 blank
 blank

 Send Date

 <$edit field="send_date">

 Reply Date

 <$edit field="reply_date">

note: with the current version of TW5, you have to take out all the
linebreaks before this will work properly. In SublimeText you can just
select the code and do command(or control)+J to "join" all the lines up
before pasting it into your Tiddler.

For TWc Vincent Yeh made plugins (View mode editor) [1] for editing tables
(and other block elements) in View mode.

The table editing part I use daily. You can edit table cells,
insert/delete/copy/paste rows and columns.

Table editing was always very difficult in TWc and is now a pleasure with
his plugin(s).

If somebody could make such a plugin for TW5

TWC and TW5 have completely different macro architectures. The methods
described for macros in TWC do *not* apply to TW5 at all.

Hi Stephan,

Very nice. I added 'bold italic' too.
One typo: for bold there are dual bacticks `` instead of dual single quotes
''.

There is one strange thing: if you apply the styling by these bookmarklets
and click 'done', the styles don't persist. You have to do some 'manual'
editing before you click 'done'.

Something to do with focus or so?

Hi Dylan

The syntax you've ended up with makes a separate table for each list entry.
That means that the columns of the consecutive tables won't necessarily
match up.

If you use the HTML syntax, but move the TABLE and TBODY elements up
outside of the list widget, then you'll get a single table. Modifying your
code above:

<$list filter="[!has[draft.of]sort[title]tag[submissions]!is[system]]">

I like having it all in one table, and a single row for each item, but I
run into some issues when I do it that way. Either one row becomes too wide
for the story-river or, if I make the rows more narrow, then it becomes
hard to tell one item apart from the next, when its all one table. I
thought that building separate tables (with multiple rows and a smaller
width) for each item seemed to be a suitable fix?

Great stuff, bookmarklets are very handy. I do plan to make it possible to

Anyhow, the edit-text widget listens for the "input" event.
