Considering that you've just bumped a 3 year old thread, I wouldn't hold my breath. The TOC macro will use the caption field by default, and you can have more than one tiddler with the same caption. Maybe that will give you better results? I still think anchor tags that can be used to generate a toc within a tiddler could be useful. One example where I would like to use them is in code documentation. If you generate a document for each module, you may want a section with a heading Change Log. From my experience, you can't create multiple tiddlers with the same name. So using the macro toc would end up showing Change Log for one module, and then it would be Change Log(1) in the next, and Change Log(2) in the next, and that isn't pretty. [tw] [TW5] Table of Contents Where Children Contain Source Tag and Parent Tag
Is it possible for me to make a table of contents where not only does it nest, but also matches all children entries to the first tag? Say I do: <$macrocall $name="toc-tabbed-internal-nav" tag="location" selectedTiddler="$:/temp/toc/selectedTiddler" unselectedText="Select a topic in the table of contents. Click the arrow to expand a topic." missingText="Missing tiddler." /> And I have tiddlers: "Location A" tagged "Location" "Location B" tagged "Location, Location A" "NOT A LOCATION" tagged "Location A" I want "Location A" to show up in the toc, with "Location B" nested under it, but not have "NOT A LOCATION" nested because it doesn't have the tag "Location". But with the call I made "NOT A LOCATION" would show up nested under "Location A" because the toc has stopped worrying about the source tag. [tw] [TW5] Table of contents - what am I doing wrong?
Hi, I've got a functioning Table of Contents but I can't seem to create another in a separate wiki and I can't think what I'm doing wrong. Process I've followed: 1. Download empty wiki from http://tiddlywiki.com/ 2. Paste the following into a tiddler and change file type to "text/vnd.tiddlywiki" <> 3.Tiddlers tagged with "ToC" should then appear in the contents - shouldn't they? Please put me out of my misery! [tw] [TW5] Table of Contents Problem - Transclusion in the Caption field
I am using the Table of Contents macro to create a table of contents of my
tiddlers and am not sure if I am doing something wrong or the table of
contents macro does not work as I expect it to. I am using the expandable
table of contents, and do not have anything in the list field (there is one
there, but it is empty). I want more than the title of the listed tiddler
to show up, I want the title and a short synopsis of the contents of the
tiddler. I have a field with this synopsis already in the tiddler. So I
tried to transclude the title field and the synopsis field in the caption
field, but what shows up on the table of contents tiddler is the actual
transclusion text, i.e. {{mytiddlerone!!title}}:
{{mytiddlerone!!synopsis}}. I can copy the transclusions out of the
caption field and paste them into the text of the tiddler and the correct
text shows up, so I know the transclusions are correct.
So, is there something I am doing incorrectly?

I find that using TiddlyWiki is very often about finding a way around to do things. As a new user to TiddlyWikiClassic I always wanted a ToC. I got it with extensive help from Måns in a danish group. It looked nice but at the same time I got it, I found that using MPTW with newHereplugin and tagglytagging really was the best and quickest way for me to take notes. Now we have the newHere button to add to TW5, but sure I miss tagglytagging. I just love that TW5 is again able to use tiddlyspot. Thanks, thanks and more thanks. Exactly what you said. The problem is that I don't have a lot of Java knowledge and I wondered if someone had a plugin for offline TW5. At least now I know where to find a base if someday I learn some Java. So, no TW5 plugins? Usually if you think you need a table of contents in a tiddler, you're putting too much into a single tiddler. Instead, put the content from each 'section' into a tiddler of its own. Then tag that tidder with some tag. Now your Table of Contents appears in that tag's list, and you have a proper microcontent tiddlywiki.
