Re: [tw] Re: [TWC] Tiddlytoold Tooltip CoreTweak

2014-05-24 Thread Jan Johannpeter

Hello Albert,
I really don't think these options are exaggerated, for in the end the
syntax is easy is very logical.
I think it makes sense to be able to configure the tooltip, because the
thing you want to know before opening a tiddler may differ very much
according to the use-case of the TW.
For a journal-style-use-scenario the standart was perfect, for this
information was not important, an I am very happy to be able to show the
Tags now. It ist perfect that your plugin allows to say which section
or slice is most important.
If you find the time ...( I know you'll be busy the next days;-) it
would be nice to be able do define Fallback-information: What is shown
if the for example a tooltip field/slice does not exist yet. This would
allow to keep the tolltip much smaller.

Again thanks a lot and best wishes..
Jan

Re: [tw] Re: [TWC] Tiddlytoold Tooltip CoreTweak

2014-05-19 Thread Albert Riedinger
Hello Jan,

I just published a very early version of CustomTooltipPlugin[1] which I
would extend with more features in near future. This release is more
oriented on your specific needs. Currently I'm very busy, so it would take
some time.

Upcoming features could be:

* implementing features from CoreTweaks with extended syntax (more
parameters and format options)
* tag and field dependent tooltip contents (defined in a separate config
tiddler)
* ... any ideas? ...

Hope you like it!

Albert

 Hi Jan,

 the following snippet should do what you are after:

  //{{{
 Tiddler.prototype.TWCore_getSubtitle = Tiddler.prototype.getSubtitle;
 Tiddler.prototype.getSubtitle = function() {
 var desc = store.getTiddlerSlice(this.title, tooltip);
 if (!!desc) {
 return desc;
 } else {
 var tags = store.getTiddler(this.title).getTags();
 var tagList = tags.readBracketedList().join(, );
 return Tags:  + tagList;
 }
 };
 //}}}

 One suggestion: Maybe it would be better not to define tooltips with
 hidden slices but with a custom field which could be edited in edit mode
 (EditTemplate)? If you like, I could rewrite this snippet to support both
 options slice and custom field (both named tooltip)?

 Have fun,

 Albert

 1) Put the following javascript code into a tiddler, tagged with

  //{{{
 Tiddler.prototype.TWCore_getSubtitle=Tiddler.prototype.getSubtitle;
 Tiddler.prototype.getSubtitle = function() {
  return store.getTiddlerSlice(this.title,'tooltip')||this.
 TWCore_getSubtitle();

  2) To override the default tooltip for a given tiddler, add a
 tooltip: slice entry into that tiddler's text, like this:
  /%
 tooltip: this is the custom text
 %/

  Note the use of /% and %/ comment markers surrounding the slice
 definition. This prevents the embedded slice definition from being
 displayed in the tiddler output.

 *How can I modify this Code to show the Tags, if there is no
 tooltip-slice yet?*

Re: [tw] Re: [TWC] Tiddlytoold Tooltip CoreTweak

2014-05-19 Thread Jan Johannpeter

Hallo Albert,
Works wonderful. It is nice that it helps to avoid a distracting hidden
slice in every tiddler.
If I am invitited to I would very much like to formulate my desires for
further development.

Here are my ideas for configuration.
In a tooltip field in each tiddler:
I would guess that if the tooltipfield has a content, it is very
probable that most users will want this to be shown in first place.
It would be nice if it was possible to define with a plus (+) in this
tooltipfield whether the fallback-tooltip shall be shown an whether it
shall be shown before or after the tooltipFieldContent. This would
override the settings in the Plugin-tiddler.

In the plugin tiddler.
It would be nice if you could configure here, what the
fallback-tooltip looks like if there is no special field.
I think Eric's CoreTweaks approach was quite perfect here, except for
the lack of the possibility to show the tags...

It would be nice to be able to configure a no tooltip list of tags,
that should not be shown as tooltip, because they're just disturbing.

Thanks a lot for a lot of work
Yours Jan
