Suspect thats adjusting the c field. Would not hurt especially if the unit
was used/surplus.
Try 4000.

There is a 4750 Resistor connected to the low end of the trimpot
whose value can be reduced as a solution. Any experiences?

Hi

There is a lot of data on the small FE rubidiums out there. They appear to have
re-packaged the same basic electronics into several different packages. You may
want to dig into some of the other models to get a complete idea of what's
going on with your unit.

I would not worry a lot about the trim range until the unit has been on power
for at least a month.

I tried a 470 in parallel and the min. voltage came down to 3.6 or so. This
did not seem to help much. 20:00 here, will try and experiment tomorrow.

A schematic would help to understand this. Any available ?

There seems to be more trimpots and a couple of buttons the functions
I have no clue about.

Re: [time-nuts] FE5680 Frequency adjustment voltage range

2010-02-15 Thread Bob Camp
Hi

In general there are no real schematics available on any of these compact Rb's.

Many of the extra post and jumpers are related to setting up the physics
package. Without a very good understanding of what they do, you really can't
touch them.

Since the unit can be digitally tuned, I would guess you might find that it's
set one step to high or low on the digital tune. The digital tune is easily
reversed it you get it wrong

Thanks Bob, As you guys mentioned its addictive !

I was planning to use these units as a quick frequency reference.. warm up for

comparing the GPSO with the Rb unit.. maybe the GPSO is off ?? this is a one
clock, two clocks, three clocks comparison syndrome..

Hi

The GPSDO should be pretty good at reporting it's own health. Lady Heather and
the other programs are very useful to decode the binary stuff that the
GPSDO's commonly put out. If everything has been on for a week or so, I would
trust the GPSDO to be close enough to tell you what's going on.

[time-nuts] D style connector with coaxial insert

2010-02-15 Thread Shawn Tayler
Hi Guys,

Sorry if this is a re-occurring topic.

I have a 100323-001 Rubidium Oscillator that I would like to get
working. It uses one of those hybrid pinned/coaxial connectors.
Roughly the size of a 15 pin D type but with a small coaxial connector
embedded in the middle. I recall there being a discussion about these
on the list sometime ago but I have been unable to locate the original
mailings.

Can someone point me to the make/part numbers or even a source?

Thanks for he help and all the great info...

Shawn

Re: [time-nuts] D style connector with coaxial insert

2010-02-15 Thread Bob Camp
Hi

Quick summary of past threads:

The loose parts to make a connector are available. They aren't cheap. The tools
needed to properly crimp the connectors are a lot of money.

The same sort of coax inserts were / are used on Sun video terminals. The
cables for them are a good source of wired inserts.

Soldering a coax to the connector is one solution to the problem.

Do you have a description ? Picture? Connector and cables attached to this item

check inside.

Hi

Could be something as simple as the external antenna for a GPS enabled gizmo.

It could also be one of the many serial GPS hockey pucks that were a common add

Pictures would be nice
