[tips] Re: Children's book

Nancy, a niche that needs filling if ever I saw one. Did you say something
about a little free time this summer? Well, there's a few weeks left. :)

No book ideas but the Neuroscience for kids website is a good place to learn a
lot about psychology.

[tips] RE: Children's book

2007-07-27 Thread Jim Matiya

Nancy,
I would recommend Psychology For Kids, 2nd edition by Jonni Kincher. It has 40
experiments for elementary children interested in learning about people. It
builds on the curiosity young peolpe have about others. It can be found in
popular book stores, science stores, etc. The ISBN is 0-915793-83-0.
A disclaimer: Jonni is a friend and my students' work is included in the book,
okay and I wrote the Forword...

Hi,

I've had an unusual request from one of my online students. She wants to know
if there is a book available that explains psychology as a science to
elementary school students (so not one of those APA kiddie books for children
with psychological or psychosocial issues, but an introduction to the science).

Does such a thing exist?

Hope all the tipsters are having an excellent summer.

I knew it would come to me...

Two books by Jonni Kincher, called *Psychology for Kids*. There's a I and a
II. I've seen the first one. Even had a few examples that could be used in
an Intro Class in college. She also has a website that looks great:
http://www.psychologyforkids.com/

APA also has a website that looks great:

Now that my brain is beginning to unfurl a bit, I think it was Jim Matiya
who originally directed me to Jonni's book! I haven't seen the book in a
while (I think my psychology-high-school teacher daughter has it), and
didn't remember Jim's contributions! It was a great little book, and I'm
sure vol. 2 is good.

Sorry to be so blunt on a Sunday morning, but this looks like the type of book
Nancy's student wanted to avoid.
