Re: [TMIC] I met a TMer!!!!!
Kevin, we didn't spend the whole time talking about our symptoms etc, perhaps just how we cope daily with the situations that arise. Our husbands were with us and of course it was very helpful for them too. There were times when we actually talked about entirely unrelated tm topics but it always came back to tm. Gilly, that is wonderful...I know how cool it was for me when I met two other TMr's here locally for the first time. It was kind of goofy because the whole 2 hours or so of our conversation consisted of comparing symptoms and such but it was such a comfort I guess, knowing that there were others right there in front of me, that knew exactly what I had and was experiencing. It kind of gives you something of a special bond that you don't always experience with other friends Here's to your continued friendship with them... I have just said goodbye to my visitors. They are Allen and Andrea Southern. Andrea is a member of our list, a lurking member but a member none the less. After 8 years of tm I've never met another person in the flesh who has it. We had a lovely visit and I can't begin to describe how wonderful it was to have a real life conversation with another tmer. OK, I won't ramble anymore but I did so want to share with you all. hugs Gilly, the old girl from Australia.

G'day Janice, I know what you mean about our list, they most certainly saved me and it's always wonderful to know you are all here. Having Andrea here in the flesh was just something else again. That's very kind of you Jan :)), I just don't often to have something constructive to say these days. I think too maybe I'm a bit too unconventional in my approach to help many of the new people. G'day Patti, What a thrill for you to meet some of my fave peeps :))!!! I was so sorry to hear of Jim's death, it's amazing how much it affects me. Each time I sit with another TMer I leave feeling invigorated. We can moan and groan and laugh all at the same time and it's such fun! Re: [TMIC] need advice
I'm a paraplegic and so management is critical for me. I found out that my bladder meds ( detrol la) may cause constipation as well as memory loss so I only use them for special occasions. When I was new to TM I took Metamucil for about a month and then I figured out to do it with diet. I am a vegetarian and lactose intolerant. I got rid of coffee and caffeine tea ( only drink herb infusions). I drink cranberry juice and grape juice ( I find orange too acid) and water from my Brita filter container. Raisins loosen, water washes. Your diet is critical. I have had TM for nearly 7 years now, and as embarrassing as it is to admit, my bowels and bladder are not getting better, in fact at times they are worse.I take Metamucil faithfully every morning and for some time that helped my bowels, but lately it is notI feel the urge and can not hold it in and have an accidentany suggestions or any good thoughts as what to do? I don't know whether to take the metamucil 2 times a day or add something else. I am on meds for my bladder and so far so good there. I am scheduled to see our medical doctor next week, but thought maybe someone might have some ideas to help me till then. Thanks.Linda in Ohio --

[TMIC] Update on Mike
Hi Everyone, We finally got Mike's schedule for radiation and chemo. Mike had his fist radiation treatment Thursday. The anticipation of the unknown was the most stressful part of the treatment, but the 20 minute session went relatively smooth. Eight consecutive weeks have been scheduled thus far and will overlap with chemo. Next Tuesday the 15th starts his first chemo treatment. The first appointment is going to last six hours starting at 9am..the next two consecutive days are scheduled at 2pm and last 2 to 3 hours. The crib board will be on hand for anyone that wants to take him on..he would love the company!!!. Both Mike and I are very please with the Oncology facility on 13th street. The doctors and support staff have been very accommodating and helpful in every possible way. We both know that the next few weeks are going to be very rough, but with the support of family, friends and a whole lot of prayers, Mike is going to gain strength through YOU..Keep the prayers going. I'll keep you posted, HUGS, Jill and Mike
