Dalton,

Don't feel badly about it, it happens to all of us, and we do it over and over
again.  Sometimes it isn't even what you did today or yesterday, but the total
of a few days in a row.  Your body just doesn't behave as we want it to ~ not
your fault or any one of ours, just the way it is.  I cannot tell you how many
times I've read on here about any one of us writing in how we've done ourselves
in and had to go to bed for a day or several days to get over it.

I wish that I could tell you it'll never happen again, but it will.  You will
eventually get used to it happening and know what to do to make yourself feel
better.  That's the best advice I can give.  However, I would totally enjoy
the strong days if you can afford to take it easy afterward.  Life is meant to
be lived and enjoyed to the best that you can.  Go for it when you can.

Take care and a big hug to you, Barbara A

Hi Dalton,

I don't know if anyone else has asked this or not, but could you have overdone
it?  Most of us know that if we push ourselves too much it seems to look like a
relapse and takes a bit to get over it.  It can take a day to several days till
we are back to what is the new normal for us.  I've had TM for 11 years (I
thought it was 12 until I did the math recently) and I continue to overdo it on
a regular basis.  I've been trying to get some things done around the house and
have been focused on that, not on myself.  I really did myself in 3 times in
the past 2 weeks.  The mind/body connection isn't really strong with me lately.

I'm not saying that this is what is happening to you, and of course, keep your
doctor's appointment.  But, it's definately something to keep in mind.  If not
for now, but also in the future, our bodies ain't what they use to be!  It's a
shame, but true!

Cindy, no, I'm not talking about the meds versus one another, I'm talking about

infections. Yes, I agree with you, this is some life we live. So many changes

Hi, are you talking about the baclofen meds vs pain meds? I don't have either
one, but thought your question interesting. I had a friend that I believe had
2 pumps, one for each. He ended up removing them both because of
complications. Would the same pump work for pain meds? This is some life we
lead sometimes, isn't it.

Best of luck with your decision. Know it will be a difficult one.

I had a baclofen pump removed last September 11, due to complications with it.
At the time of removal, I was told that I could not have it put back in. But
what I did not know at the time, was that I could get pain medicine put
directly into the pump also. Now I'm considering having the pump put back in
just for the pain medicine. My question is, has anyone ever had the pump
removed and reinstalled? I would normally be concerned about them fooling
around with my spinal cord, but I'm already a quadriplegic, completely
paralyzed on the right side and minimal, nonfunctional, use on the left side.
My only concern would be that they would something affect my brain.

Hey Naomi,
They should be able to replace the pump, if there isn't too much scare tissue
to but it back in with pain medication.
Sorry to hear that you need it.

Hi, all,

I find that taking 4 hours (Noon to 4:pm) to relax, meditate, perhaps to dream,
helps rejuvenate my body and mind.

I use an old Barkalounger that elevates my legs, lowers my heart and brain.

I also have told everyone that this is my time, no phone calls, etc.

I know this helps, if it doesn't work for you, you are not relaxing enough.

Hey,

I am slowly adapting to the constant pain and all of the other sequelae of this
affliction. I am slowly moving into my brain, leaving my body- I am living in
my mind. My body is becoming just some sort of biological device in which I
exist. The pain is associated with, connected to, this biological vessel, and
so is less important to me.

My two cents

Hi Barbara,

Great information you gave Kevin. You suggested group therapy and that you had
done it yourself. Are you talking about for depression? If so I can see how
that would be very beneficial to physically be with others who share the same
or similar depression issues. Is this what you meant and if so how did you get
involved in a group therapy? Sorry if this is obvious to everyone else except
me - I just haven't heard of it. Thanks

  Hello Kevin,

How have you been? It looks like you are finally getting some services and
some medications. Looks like you are on the right track. I'm so thrilled to
hear that you are getting physical therapy and the anti-depression meds. Who
knows how much better you'd be if you would have gotten this long ago, but at
least you are getting them now.

It's hard work, but I hope that you will see some reward from the therapy.
If you can get strong enough to get out again, a group therapy may be a good
situation for you. I did that for quite some time prior to moving here and it
helped me so much with my depression. I should do it again, as I find myself
slipping every now and then, like several times a year, and not pulling myself
out too easily. It's hard to start, but once you do, you'll find that you
don't want to miss it. I found that I felt that I was helping others and in
turn it felt like I was helping myself. Very much like the TMIC, but you get
to do it in person, so you get that human contact that is necessary for us to
thrive.

Well, we're having another heatwave here in the northeast (CT), after almost
winter weather
  a few weeks ago, weird.

I've been trying some new things to try to feel 'human' again, and pull
myself out of my depression.
I started on the anti-depressant Lexapro about 3 weeks ago. No noticeable
change yet, but I know it can
take several weeks. At least no bad side effects like I had with Lyrica and
Cymbalta.

I'm also getting physical therapy at home three days a week, which is kicking
my butt, (fatigue, pain), and
will be starting occupational therapy for my hands. Last week, my BP was low,
and still is in the
100/60 area. Before that it was 120/70. I am treated for high BP and have a
call in to my doctor about
this. Maybe it has to do with PT after being sedentary for so long?

Anyway, I'm trying to be proactive about things..not easy for me.

  Wishing you all the best.

Yep, Akua, can totally relate to everything you said. Since TM, I have had
such trouble with my sleep, or lack thereof, that I find myself crying at the
drop of a hat - Sleeping pills don't work for me. However, many people have
told me about their positive experience with Melatonin. Out of sheer
desperation, I talked to my pharmacist about it. He reviewed my meds and told
me it would be ok to take. After 3 days I actually slept 9 hours, then 8 hours
and it's been pretty consistent since. The most I was sleeping before was 3 or
4 hours, wake up and not get back to sleep for another 2 hours and only for an
hour if I was lucky - and then it wasn't even a restful sleep. I have to take
a nap every day. Basically no quality of life because I was so so tired all
the time from not sleeping.
I'm all set to go to the Symposium in Dallas and I am already worried about the
long air travel, the long days at the Symposium itself and how in the world I
will be able to handle all of it.
