i was fortunate with the bowel/bladder problems. not like i dont have areas
there that is not touched but it is controllable.

i have sensations that are not normal ,it could have been different in that the
nerves could have really messed me up in that area.

it is not unusual though when other things in the neurological arena cause the
same disfunctions

nerves are nerves so one could say that when things go wrong,

what we have here is a lack of communication

we have a body that is wonderfully made when it works right.

Yes I do use a cane when I go out, but in the house I get along without one.
Each time I fell, it was through stupidity.  Once I stepped on my shoe lace and
went down.  All I got were rug burns on my knees.  It has been a long time

Todd I did the same thing about 6 weeks after I got home from the hospital.  I
was at the computer paying some bills.  When I finished, I got up to go to the
bathroom and completely forgot that I couldn’t walk.  Needless to say, I landed
flat on my face.  Fortunately, I didn’t hurt myself, but I thought okay how do
I get up since my hubby was outside cutting the grass.  I was lucky that my
P.T. therapist showed me what to do in case I would fall.  As I was going down
all I could think was oh s__t!  Well, what she showed me worked.  I have gone
down at least 2 more times, but I have been lucky that all I bruised was my
self esteem.  We all must remember to be very careful.  I hope you didn’t hurt
yourself.

I've fallen down the stairs several times these past few years.  But, I count
my blessings I'm able to go down the stairs.  My hips are constantly bruised
where I fall into things, but I am so lucky I am walking there in the first
place.  My PT gets aggrevated at me for doing too much, and my insurance
company thinks I should do more.  I'm not to good at decisions, friends.
Chiropractors have been the ones who have given me the most relief, too.

I too had a bad fall, when I was trying to sit on the floor.

I was trying a new short cut, going from standing with my walker to straight to
the floor without sitting in a chair first then going down to the floor.  So
don't try this at home or anywhere else. lol

I let my chiropractor know that my left shoulder blade was hurting, so he
followed that point to my spine and snapped back in one of my ribs.  This was a
week before Christmas, so it did make for a great Christmas gift.

So please be very safe everyone,

Normaly I could say, just fine, not better or worse. After all this time it was
very study. But last summer I overstreched my hamstrings by a fall. A very
stupid one, sitting on the bed I reached too far for clothes on the floor and
slide from the bed. I jused after that time my wheelchair all the day, because
standing and walking with crutches was too painfull. Now after recovering, it
is hard to get back to what I could do before. I hope in summer when we go to
Spain I can get it back in the warm sun and dayly in the swimming pool.

And my lesions were in the brainstem.

Which means that either physical exertion or stressful situations or
attempts at verbal or written communication can overload the circuitry and
send me into convulsions that end up with me on the floor, stiff as a board
and unable to talk.

Talk about communication! Last summer was a real example. I was visiting
my 94-year-old mother, who is very frail, when I had an attack after getting
too excited that the Yankees had one a close game against the Red Sox.
There we were, me on the floor and my mother putting a pillow under my head.
What a pair we made. It was all very funny to both of us. Eventually, I
was able go get up and resume something like a normal posture.

I am at peace, since as an economics professor I can still work and the TM
only meant that I must be very careful and slow with things, but at least I
can walk, and take care of my needs. So, I thank God for what I have.

Hi Jude and Alton,

I remember you both! How are each of you? I haven't been on TMIC very
much since moving to Utah
- just recently 'signed on' again. But I remember you both from when I
was first hit with
TM in 2005 when I lived in Hawaii.

I've particularly thought about you Jude since I tore my Achilles tendon,
apparently while
stretching, but without realizing anything had happened - until the pain
got really bad.
It reminded me of how you had broken both of your legs just by stretching
out! I hope by now you've healed well and maybe can use your legs a
little at least?

And the thing I remember about you, Alton, is that you were a scientist -
and it seems like
you liked to cook or bake? Was it bread? I can't remember the latter for
sure.

Hope all is well with you,
Happy New Year,
Sally

Judy, we all remember you. What is your question?

 Alton
