Janice, I just wanted to let everyone know that after two days of the St. Jude
KIX 106 radiothon we raises $301,000.00 thats 25,000 more than last. I really
felt bad that I never recieved but 2 e-mails from tmic. I was figuring I'd get
more but I'm still proud of this group for trying to deal with tm, its not easy
as I well know. If you know any child with cancer no matter where they live or
how much thier parent can afford I would still get them to
St Jude. Thanks for letting me use this media. Rick

Layman's Ten . . . . . . .Someone has written these beautiful words.
Must read
and try to understand the deep meaning of it.
They are like the ten commandments to follow
in life all the time.

1.  Prayer is
not a spare wheel that you pull out when in
trouble,
 but it is
a steering wheel that directs the right path
throughout.

2.  So why is a car's
windshield so large and the rear view mirror so
small?
 Because our
past is not as important as our future.
 So, look ahead and
move on.

3.   Friendship is
like a book. It takes few seconds to burn, but
it takes

years to write.

4.  All things in
life are temporary. If it's going well, enjoy
it, that won't
 last
long. If it's going badly, don't worry, that
won't last long either.

5.
Old friends are gold! New friends are diamonds!
If you get a

diamond, don't forget the gold!  Because to
hold a diamond, you
  always need a
base of gold!

6.  Often when we
lose hope and think this is the end,
 God smiles from
above and says, Relax, sweetheart, it's just a
  bend, not the
end!

7.  When God solves your
problems, you have faith in His abilities;
 when God doesn't
solve your problems, He has faith in your
 abilities.

8.  A blind person asked St.
Anthony, Can there be anything worse
 than losing eye
sight? He replied, Yes, losing your vision!

9.  When you pray for others, God
listens to you and blesses them;
 sometimes, when you
are safe and happy, remember that
 someone has prayed
for you.

10. Worrying does not take away
tomorrow's troubles, it takes
  away today's
peace.

If you really enjoy this, please
pass to others. It may brighten
someone's
day.

Hey Jude, As I get older I seem to have the same pain but stronger than ever.
Jude I have stopped taking percocet and any other pain meds. It took about a
solid month to ween off of them but now I'm glad I did. They got to where they
were causing more spasms than normal I was having to double up on percocet, I
started running out early and I couldn't get a refill so I was screwed for
several days. That caused real problems and I started having bad withdrawals.
That was when I decided to quit them. You can't imagine what that was like.
Three months latere I'm off of them completly I only take some Valium,
Gabapentin, Soma, Oxybutin and blood pressure meds. I'm alot better off without
percocets but even though I  still have incredable pain I try and use mind over
matter, also I listen some Ti Che and that creates a different perspective of
mind control. If your not strong enough to ween off of pains, I don't recommend
trying this on your own, it can
get scarey. We all have to try and use our good sence with strong opiates
there so addictive and very bad for your Liver and other internal organs. I
love all of you and please use good judgement with your meds. Sometime the
initial good wil[ come back and haunt you. Please take care of yourselves. Rick

Hello
All,

I was just
wondering...how has your TM changed since you have gotten older?  Is there
more or less pain?  Are you able to get around like you used to?  Are
you hampered more now than you used to be?  In what
ways.

What helps you
with your pain besides medication?  Do you use things like Ben Gay or
topical ointments or anything?

Do any of you,
besides Bernie, have a pain pump?  I am going for my first consultation on
the 9th.  I looked it up and know all about it, but I want to know about it
first hand.

Thank you all
for your answers.  I am considering asking the Quad list too.  What do
you think?  Does anyone have those addresses?  If so, may I have a few

Hello Guys Gals,

How is everyone tonight?  I honestly hope you are well and in good spirits.

How does stress affect your life with TM?  What do you do to alleviate it?
How do you fight it?

We just found out that my husband (Dave) has cancer of the blood with
lesions on his liver.  He got a call from his Dr. just a few minutes ago.
He has to go in to talk to the Dr. on Thursday.

I am so worried about him.  I can't get out of this damn bed to even lift a
finger to help him, because I have a broken leg.

What are some of the things you do to combat stress in your lives?  We are
facing other things too that are considered major stressors on the stress
scale.

I really need your help on this.  My TM is acting up like crazy.

Hugs,

Todd' one of the reasons I reclused from this web site is because I had three
members of my immediately family die and I needed to deal with funeral homes
and I actually had to ask this list for donations and the people that I thought

First of all, I never said I PREFER the paraplegic/quadriplegic site. I said I
IDENTIFY more. I feel as though I offended you by saying this. There are issues
and concerns of being a quad they are not addressed in the TM site and I would
imagine it's because most people on this site are not quadriplegics. I go where
I can find the information that helps me. If I did not want to be on this site,
I could simply delete it from my contacts. There is nothing holding me back. I
have asked questions on here regarding autonomic dysflexia, only to have no one
respond. Because I later found out that it's a medical condition for
quadriplegics, so I went to the paraplegic/quadriplegic site to get the answers
I needed. I'm sure Jim uses these sites, HE CREATED THEM! Where is his
hostility?? He knew that there would be a need for additional information, and
that's all it is, is additional information.
I have been a member of this site, since I came home from the hospital in 2006,
but I am always looking for any and all information that could be of help to me
(as I'm sure all of us would be). There are people that use this site that are
also members on the Yahoo Transverse Myelitis site. Should they just pick one
or the other.
I have met many people through this site, one who has become my best friend who
has TM. I would not trade that for anything, but your e-mail makes me feel as
though I am unwelcomed or a traitor of sorts. This brings me to tears. As I
have poured my heart out on this site (reluctant to make my personal problems
public), but felt comfortable enough to share with others who are, also
suffering with relationship problems, pain and depression. That won't happen
again.

other one that you say you prefer?  What's the big deal?

Good grief, Rick. Todd was not at all griping or insinuating anything. He wrote
a very gracious response to the previous e-mails in this thread.

Todd' one of the reasons I reclused from this web site is because I had three

much as a salutation. I'm not picking on you but I know this, If you send a
e-mail to Jim or anyone else on this list your email will eventually be
answered. This is an amazing web site and if you are not satisfied with your

That won't happen again.

We do enjoy reading ALL of your e-mails.
I'm sadden that I'm unable to answer a few of your e-mails because of how TM
has hit you.  But, you are right that this site doesn't have many quads, like
you Jim.  I'm amazed at ALL of your's e-mails.  What it must take just to
write an e-mails.  Both of you DO write wonderful long e-mails.  I do treasure
each everyone of your e-mails.
I have trouble keeping up with this site,
more power to you to do more than one sit.
Just know ya'll do have a FAN,

Hello, dear one...
Not to worry..  We will keep our site.  We have such family of friends that I
don't want to take a chance on losing any of you. I would imagine that if you
don't want to thank God and talk about prayer, you would probably be
uncomfortable on here.  We seem to come thru no matter what 'decisions' are
made in how to handle that issue! :)

And thank you so much for the update on you!!!

Love you all..Jeanne in Dayton

 Hello All,

Just wanted to keep you informed as to what is going on here in snowy,
c,c,c,cold, gray and nasty Michigan.

As usual, I have another UTI but this time it is being treated? differently.
My doctor is at a loss as to what antibiotic to put me on because I have become
immune to all of them that can be given orally.

The doctor is consulting with my infectious disease specialist to see if he can
come up with something given by IV at home.  I am so tired of going to the
hospital, but may have to if the doc cannot come up with something.

I believe that today I see the wound care specialist.  Dave says that when he
changes the dressings, the wounds look pretty good.  One side has quite a bit
of drainage that is looking a bit green but that's all.  Hopefully, I will be
on something soon to get everything under control.

Rick called me yesterday.  What a dear friend.  I am so fortunate to have
friends like all of you that I can depend upon to help keep me positive when
I'm not feeling well.  I got a sweet card from Trudy.  The card is lovely on
it's own, but the words Trudy wrote are very special.  Faithful Pam calls me
almost every day...the last time she called we talked forever.
Who else calls?  Ella is a regular, Linda checked in with me last week and I
know that I am missing someone.  Please forgive me, my friend.  I appreciate
the outpouring of love.

I can't help but think that our group is a very special entity and hate to
think of everyone leaving and going to the Yahoo site.  Does anyone know if Jim
Lubin has anything to do with the other site?  He works so hard to maintain
this List, I hate to think of people abandoning him simply for a change of pace.

It is my hope that people will keep their place on this List and if they feel
the need to meet new people and read about new ideas and such, I hope that they
can belong to two sites and not eliminate this one.  Unfortunately, I only have
enough energy to answer email on this one.

Well, please take my loving thoughts with you today and enjoy whatever it is
that you will be doing.

Your Jude
