HI SUE!! every ones situation is different when it comes to this issue, ive had tm since feb 2000,and ill tell you ive had some accidents in some bad places, such as therapy and in the car,the best you can do is try to schedule your bms.this may sound kind of strange ,but it can be done,i usually try to go every other day.unless the urge hits earlier..if you feel like you have to go,dont dought it for somthing else such as gas or an upset stomach, its better to be safe than sorry and try to go.ive found with myself i have to stimulate myself to go.this my seem weird to think about ,but you have to do whatever works for you.im partially paralysed from mid abd down and in a wheelchair.but have had to learn to work with what ive got.i dont know how long you have been a tmer, but the longer you get into the disease the more things will even out and things will start to regulate for you and there will be less accidents.dont be embarased,it happen!
 s and you
just have to roll with it.write me back id love to hear from you. jeffSue Zieke [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: any suggestions for embarrassing loss of bowel control? it doesn't happen that often, every 2-3 weeks but is s embarrassing. please help. sue SHOOT FIRST! ASKQUESTIONS LATER.

Not being of much help re: loss of bowel
control, the only things that I can suggest are those that work, more or less,
for me.

First, a good program that suits your personal ebb and
flo. I am a go every day girl, while others are every 2 or 3 days.
Figure out which you are then adhere to a program fit for you. I have
found, through trial and error, over time, that two Senna Kot and three Colase
over a three hour period during the mid-morning are enough to keep me regular
and going at the same time each day.

If I vary even a little bit from my program, I take the risk
of embarrasing moments and discomfort. No fun at all.

When I go out, if I do not feel "right" or am off of my
schedule, I wear a brief and take a bag with things I might need in case of an
accident.

Best of luck to you my dear. I hope you get lots of good
answers to your questions.

Peace,
Jude

 Carol,

I've had TM since 2000 And am still unable to dance either fast or slow.

The loss of dancing is one of my greatest.

 take care

When on cruise I go to dance floor with my walker and then get on floor
pretending I am dancing. Porbably look like a fool but have a good
time.

Had the same problem. Then it went too fast but most of the times too slow.
I ended in hospital for a few days. From there on I used lactulose dayly to
keep it soft, and had bowl every day. When I did not manage to push it out,
me was recomment, try to cauf it out. That works for me. Every day I see to
get it out in time and accident hardly happened after that time.

Some quotes to hang on:

Hi Sue. I don't what your situation is, but mine is partially paralyzed from midchest down. My neurologist has told me that bowel training is what we need to do, which is trying to be very scheduled in your bowel movements. I try to do mine every other day. he suggested every day but I hate it, so every other day is even too much for me!I have noticed that different foods effect my bladder control, but haven't really noticed any foods effecting my bowel patterns, or lack thereof! I still have 'spontaneous' bowel movements but they are much farther apart than they used to be. Good luck with it! Yes, bowel control is a huge issue. My neurologist also told me to try to
do exercises much like us women would perform the kagel exercise only try to
squeeze and hold the rectum muscle for a few seconds. I can't say that it
has helped 100% as I also have some accidents...only my BM's are usually
firm and roll right out when I set down on the pot. LOL! (Gotta have some
humor with this crap!) And I do emphasize usually, but not always.
Sometimes I have had some real messes. I have had TM since June 2005 and
just now starting to get out and go places with friends. For a single,
active, dancing mid age lady, the bowel control has been a major factor in
holding me back from my social life since I got out of the wheel chair. I
certainly do not have the mobility to dance like I use to, but I can still
slow dance.

Funny that you should list this question this weekend, because I just
started tracking my BM's. I placed a little tablet in my bathroom that I
record the times of my BM's so I can see how scheduled or spuratic they are.
I carry wipes and undergarments with me to work. I might also add that I
have to take Senacot, Colace and Miralax to keep them moving.

How extensive, e.g.,
marking of the underwear or
a tablespoon or so or
a full BM

The answers are different.

i wish it were a tablespoon. no it is a full bm. and ends up
everywhere, even in my shoes. do they make some kind of diapers that
would actually work and contain it until i can get to the bathroom?
