[OT] RE: Tomcat + Hibernate2 + Security Manager
Could you give an example of how a malicious code could affect the security of the JVM ? Usually I have a codebase policy like this for each user: permission java.io.FilePermission /home/client/public_html/-, read, write, delete; I guess that if someone writes a piece of code that tries to acess private functions, static variables, etc from other libraries in different directories, this policy will intercept the request and the malicious code will not work. Am I right ? Is there a way that somebody could write code that uses the catalina classes in order to do something bad ? IP Addresses on Subnets, etc.
I want to use my home computer for some development on Tomcat. I frequently use a laptop which is on a home combination wire and wireless router (one wireless and four wires). How can I find out the ip address of each machine in the the network? A call to the ip address of the laptop yields the subnet address 192.168.0.101, which, of course, is not the real ip address. A determination by examining a request object sent from the laptop reveals an alias of some sort from the isp. So, somewhere in between is the real ip address of the laptop. How do I find that? Re: IP Addresses on Subnets, etc.
Hi, Alan, The folks in the know suggested this as the appropriate list. I am not trying to obtain an ip address in order to access locally Tomcat, but to access Tomcat globally. Therefore, the local subnet address will not help. By a request object, I mean an http request object that I send to an outside computer and which, then, holds under request.getRemoteAddr()the ip address. However, this appears to be an alias ip address which resolves to a remote host that is the isp address preceeded by a series of hexadecimal numbers. Does that help? reloadable='true' and MBean
Hi all, I'm using Tomcat 4.1.24 with some virtual users on it. I'd like to give my users the flexibility to change their Context properties on the fly ( like reloadable='false' for instance ), but I don't want to give them access to MBean application. Is it possible ? How can I do a 'wrapper' so I can customize my own application ? Thanks Renato - Brazil. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Time Out (I need help!)
Hi people! I am getting some problems with time out when a client tries to send a (around) 800kb file to my server via JSPSmartUpload. I think that if I set the timeout to a bigger time this problem will be solved, but I don't know how to do it... 1) How do I to re-set the timeout of tomcat (or apache)? (not the session time-out) 2) Does Somebody have the same problem with JSPSmartUpload or other upload package?? Thank u all!! RE: Questionnaire -- and don't send me any more
-Original Message- From: Marcos Manosso [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: August 11, 2002 05:21 PM To: Marcos Manosso Cc: Marcos Manosso Subject: Questionnaire Importance: High Dear Sir/Madam We are conducting some research concerning the public's opinion about the level of ethics in advertising. As you may be aware, many companies have ethical advertising policies. Furthermore, the media (i.e. TV, Radio, Magazines and Newspapers) have governmental and non-governmental organizations that are suppose to monitor the ethical content of advertisements. The questions we want to address in this study are whether, in the public's opinion, (a) this control is really maintaining a high level of ethics in advertising executions; (b) what are the main issues in advertising ethics that should be dealt with in order to ensure this high ethical level, and (c) if ethics impacts consumers attitudes and behaviours towards firms that maintain high levels of ethics in their business and advertisings, which may be reflected in the company's society and environment. In order to answer these questions, we need your help. Following this letter is a short questionnaire. We would really appreciate your help in completing and returning it. Your responses are extremely valuable and will help us gain a better understanding of the issues of advertising ethics and corporate social responsibility. Once completed, please return the questionnaire to [EMAIL PROTECTED] We know your time is valuable, and therefore, as a token of our appreciation for your cooperation, we would be pleased to send you the results and analysis of this questionnaire. We assure you that the information you provide will be kept strictly confidential and combined with all other responses so that no individuals can be identified. In addition, your name and/or e-mail address will remain in the highest levels of anonymity and privacy, and will not be given, sold or otherwise distributed to anyone, being destroyed from our records immediately after your questionnaire is gathered and (if the case) the results posted to you.
