RE: WELCOME to tomcat-user@jakarta.apache.org

2005-06-24 Thread Lusinyants, Ruben \(IT\)
I am new to TOMCAT. I used MyEclipse Workbench to develop the site which
I run of a local installation on my XP box. I then created a
MyApplication.war file and used Tomcat Web Application Manager to deploy
it on a shared server. The war file is in
.
/MyApplication/QA/kuula/.sc.9501/webapps/MyApplication.war

When I attempt to access it using
http://:/MyApplication/index.jsp I get

Not Found
The requested URL /DataQuality was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while
trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Is it necessary to unpack the war file? I am not sure what is going on
:-)

Thanks

Complete guess here, but you might want to check permission settings for the
Tomcat home (installation) directory - and also see that you've got a Tomcat
user account set up, etc.

I have a no-login 'tomcat' user, and permissions for the Tomcat home
directory (and all its contents) is assigned to that user.

What happens when you call the 'tomcatd' script (from the console) without
any arguments? (Surely that's what happens when the system calls 'tomcatd'?)

2005-02-09 Thread Charles Patterson
Fedora Core 3 using Gnome
Installed Tomcat 5.5.4, created tomcatd script to start tomcat in
/etc/rc.d/init.d, chmod +755 tomcatd chkconfig --add tomcatd 5 on

On startup it says it's starting tomcatd, yet tomcat is not run. if I
manually run script with start argument it starts fine.

I've tried searching google, and everyone says put the script in init.d
and chmod it, which I've already done.

2005-01-14 Thread Parsons Technical Services
First, welcome to the list.
Second, Whenever you are posting to the list with a new issue, please start
with a new email. Do not do a reply-to, even if you change the subject it
messes up the listings for the archives and some email clients.

Third, please post in your email, the version of Tomcat, OS, and Java so we
may help you better.

Because of the issue you described has been a common one lately, I will go
on the assumption that you are running 5.5 With this you will have to define
your default context in the server.xml file. also note that you will need
path set to "" empty string for the default.

Here are a few links to help you.
Context info:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.5-doc/config/context.html
Posting to the list:

Please don't take offence to these comments, the goal here is to help you
and others get the most from the list.

It's just XML. Recent JDKs ship with builtin XML parsers, so this is
straightforward.

In the future, a more descriptive subject line may catch more attention.

You can configure your web.xml to forward error code 403 to your specific
error page

like:

/errors/403.jsp

I am logging into a protected area, with a username and password that is exists, but
doesn't have the correct role to access the page, I am getting a 403:
403: Apache Tomcat/4.0.1 - HTTP Status 403 - Access to the requested
resource has been denied
and the user is being logged on to the system.

I have found that this is the correct behavior of tomcat. (see

seeing that error page. I would prefer if they are brought to my standard loging

Are there any suggestions on how I can avoid the standard 403 error page from being
seen, or better yet, how I can trap the authentication from being sucessful.

Thank You,

RE: WELCOME to tomcat-user@jakarta.apache.org

2002-05-27 Thread Leng, Jialing

Hi

I have been trying to set up Tomcat for SSL communication, but could
get through the very first step -- connecting to https:\\localhost:8443

Here are my environment and settings:
1) Windows NT
2) Tomcat4.0.3
3) JDK 1.4 used by Tomcat
4) created the CA and keystore by keytool for both server and client
5) added in the following to server.xml

But, when testing the HTTPS server, i.e. go to URL https:\\localhost:8443
from browser, NOTHING is displayed.

Do I need to set up anything else ?

Please help/advice

Thanks.

Jialing

Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list.

I'm working for my owner, who can be reached
at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Acknowledgment: I have added the address

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

to the tomcat-user mailing list.

Welcome to [EMAIL PROTECTED]!

Please save this message so that you know the address you are
subscribed under, in case you later want to unsubscribe or change your
subscription address.

--- Administrative commands for the tomcat-user list ---

I can handle administrative requests automatically. Please
do not send them to the list address! Instead, send
your message to the correct command address:

To subscribe to the list, send a message to:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

To remove your address from the list, send a message to:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Send mail to the following for info and FAQ for this list:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Similar addresses exist for the digest list:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

To get messages 123 through 145 (a maximum of 100 per request), mail:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

To get an index with subject and author for messages 123-456 , mail:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

They are always returned as sets of 100, max 2000 per request,
so you'll actually get 100-499.

To receive all messages with the same subject as message 12345,
send an empty message to:
   <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The messages do not really need to be empty, but I will ignore
their content. Only the ADDRESS you send to is important.

You can start a subscription for an alternate address,
for example "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", just add a hyphen and your
address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

To stop subscription for this address, mail:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When
you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.

If despite following these instructions, you do not get the
desired results, please contact my owner at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Please be patient, my owner is a
lot slower than I am ;-)

--- Enclosed is a copy of the request I received.

Also, in every mail, you'll find the following "hidden" in the header of
the mail:

  list-help:
  list-unsubscribe:
  list-post:
