Re: Topband: PLease!

2022-02-01 Thread Phil Lefever via Topband
In the 90's with a dial up connection a digest made some sense. Today we have
lots of bandwidth and most any email program lets you set up easy filters to
sort messages into orderly folders. Single messages make for easily followed
threads without the jumble. Easier for both the individual user as well as the
community at large.

This is a problem with email lists that other sorts of online forums don't deal
with. Any email list I run I always disable the digest option if possible.

I am with Pete on you "no quoted context" guys . I have given up and
simply delete those messages without reading as well ( your loss not mine)

Topband: Please avoid this mistake

2020-10-28 Thread Tree
All -

I have some bad news to share. I found a tree that had fallen across one
of my beverages and I decided to use the chainsaw to free the wire. The
trunk of the tree was about 4 inches in diameter where the wire was. When
I freed about 18 inches by cutting on each side of the wire, that section
became a projectile due to the tension in the Beverage wire (approximately
900 feet of 17 gauge electric fence steel wire).

It stuck me in the forehead and could have easily been fatal. However, I
am lucky and am still here. It remains to be seen if I will regain vision
in one eye however.

I post this in the hope that a reminder about this possible situation will
prevent the same thing from happening to one of you.

That is all. No need to start a big thread over this. Enough said. Reply
directly instead of to the list if you have any comments.
