[tor-talk] Tor Browser in RAM

2015-11-28 Thread force44
Hello!

On Win-7, the usual Firefox (with a dozen of extensions) uses about 180 Mo RAM.

TorBrowser, with the basic extensions supplied in the package, uses 450 Mo when
launching it, and then increases itself up to about 580 Mo. Without any opened
page, no connection to any website. When I connect to websites, the RAM usage
grows and grows and grows... So much that I have to shut it down!

Any idea? Thank you!

[tor-talk] TOR Browser - Change circuits

2015-10-04 Thread force44
Hello!

I understand that if a node used in a circuit is down, Tor will build a new
route. But if all nodes used in a circuit are running correctly, how often will
Tor change the route? Is there a way to control this?

Thank you

[tor-talk] I am getting European nodes only?

2015-08-25 Thread force44
Hello!

Using the last release of Tor Browser, I am a bit surprised: Circuits are made
ONLY with European nodes! I changed identity a few times, asked New Tot
circuit for this site, every time there are only European nodes!

I cannot believe that Northern and Southern America, Asia, Russia, haven't any
Tor node???

Any suggestion to stop this and use other nodes than only European ones?

(I didn't modify anything in the config)

Thank you!

[tor-talk] Circuits in Orbot

2015-06-23 Thread force44
Hello!

I am using Orbot for Android and was surprised to see that circuits are up to 5
nodes. I remember having read that TOR would not be more secure (and even could
be UNsecure) if it would use more than 3 nodes to build a circuit.

Any explanation?

Re: [tor-talk] Any free email service can work with Tor

2015-04-09 Thread force44
About MAIL.RU they will ask you a SMS validation only if somebody complaints
about your mail.ru address. I myself use many boxes there, all with TOR, never
got any SMS validation unless ONCE after a guy told me he will complain...

I use myself now for subscribing to lists etc, the service at
https://funky-mail.net/
They SSL certificate is self issued so I get a warning but no problem for me,
for what I am doing with it... I contacted the admin there, they are modifying
they system to SEND emails, but for receiving all is ok.

We suspect that your mailbox has been hacked.

To recover access, enter and confirm your phone number with the code sent in
 an SMS message.
We also recommend that you review this information, which will help you
protect yourself from being hacked in the future.

Is there any other free email service provider that can be used with Tor?
Of course, I had tried GMail, they did the same thing before I switched to
Mail.ru, and Mail.ru worked for a few years until today. I only sent
less than 10 emails per week from those Mail.ru accounts, most of the
time I just need them to receive mails from mailing lists.

 Any help would be appreciated.

LOL, the DOJ is optimistic, I would say 90% is used for piracy etc...

 Hi all,

Is there a good reference for the assertion by DOJ that 3% of Tor's
traffic is bad/used for piracy/etc? This has been referenced in a few
talks, but was just wondering if this is written anywhere that can be
 easily referenced.

 thanks,

[tor-talk] About CAPTCHA and mailservice

2014-03-30 Thread force44
Hello,

I saw this service at https://funky-mail.net/

CAPTCHA is funny, not sure that any robot may break it?

Mailservice is good to RECEIVE mails, tried it a few times. Sending Is not
possible as it is a paid service with e-currencies that have disappeared. Site
seems to be discontinued, anyway I have asked a free test to send mails and am
expecting a reply :)

Re: [tor-talk] Protect from yandex

2014-03-02 Thread force44
I can use TOR on Yandex without any major problem including market and partner.
SOME exit nodes are blocked, just use others. To select exit nodes from Moscow,
seems hard, but look at the list of exit nodes and check tehir IP, MAYBE you
will see that some of them are located in Moscow.

Another way is to rent a VPN service located in Moscow, or even rent a VPS in a
datacenter, use it as a proxy, send your emails through TOR to your VPS, so it
will show the datacenter in Moscow IP. And if logs are checked by the
datacenter They will show TOR exit nodes from anywhere in the world.

[tor-talk] Mail service working with Tor

2011-05-29 Thread force44
I use myself https://funky-mail.net
Free to receive mails, must pay a small fee for sending mails but there are
great features (scheduled mails, any from, mailings). Payment through
e-currency, so good for keeping a low profile.
(I have no connection at all with them, just this can be useful as I can
connect thru TOR without problem).
