Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Screen still shows tune is playing after Squeezebox Server is shut down

2010-12-09 Thread toby10

Yes, I see this, it plays until the end of the song. Maybe Touch has a
larger buffer?
I usually have a Stopped screensaver so I never noticed this before.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Compatible 32Gb USB Memory Stick Req'd

2010-12-09 Thread urardo

Hi Strocky -

I found that the Lexar Echo ZE (v. tiny - PCWorld had them on half
price special a while ago) worked well for me. When I don't want to
fire up the server, I have 20GB of mp3s on it.

I've had no problems, but in the nature of things I wouldn't want to
guarantee it problem-free.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Second SBT sounds different

2010-12-09 Thread Jacky

Ok, I let it play with shut off amplifier for 3 full days now:

Now I switchted amp on and do NOT hear any sound differences with same
settings and files as before.
Still muddy, closed comparing to my first one: its subtible, but
noticable through my system speakers with ribbon tweeters.

So what shell I do?

1) Get back to my dealer and get a new one? What argument?

2) Get an external DAC, Im looking for a Bryston BDA, and connect
inbetween Touch Amp?

3) Try to bridge the caps? (I started to do that with my first, but I
do not have the right instruments - like suitable soldering iron,aso..-
for proper surgery Ithink Im not skilled enough)

4) Extend burn in time?

Thanks
Jacky

It doesn't play to the end of the song. It just keeps playing... or...
shows that it is playing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] 'local service stopped' error message: related to USB power or album art?

2010-12-09 Thread Ronnus

I have moved the music collection, without editing album art or tags, to
the WD Elements 500 GB. Looks like this is a more stable solution. The
'local music service stopped'-error has popped up one more time, but
only during the initial scan, when I was messing around with internet
radio in the meantime.

The drive is a bit slower than the 2,5 bus-powered one (longer time
between selection of albums and actual music start). Otherwise, there
are no significant problems.

Obviously.

You have a properly working one from before. The new one doesn't sound
as good, hence it must be faulty. There's no arguing with that
argument.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Simple Operation Advice

2010-12-09 Thread paltomare

Need some advice for setting up a Touch for very basic operation. I
bought one for my mom to stream one or two radio stations, and listen
to her music which I have put on an SD card. I currently have the radio
stations as favorites on MySB.com which play on startup via a harmony
remote macro. Is there a way to have the option to play her local music
from the main Touch screen without having to switch libraries? Would it
work to have .pls files for the streaming stations stored on the SD
card as playlist files along with the music files so she is not
switching libraries. Ideally, the option to choose from a favorite
station and her music from the same home screen is what I am trying to
achieve. Thanks, paul

For F's sake!

My Logitech one just shipped (almost a week after I cancelled it) and
Solutions A/V doesn't respond to e-mails and hasn't shipped it.

I might end up with two of these.

I found that using the internet radio option was related to the service
stopping. I saved my radio stations in playlists and added them to
favorites. I have it running now for 2 weeks without error. The server
would previously stop even using the Toshiba drive.
