Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Ethernet problem - SB on wrong subnet mask
But has anyone any clues about the library losing itself Are you using a hard disk plugged into the USB port on the Touch? Sounds like you're experiencing many of the problems of a 'marginal' disk config. -- amcluesent amcluesent's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86865 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] 2 questions! (new user of Touch)
If it only happens in a very dark room and its going very dim to full brightness, this is a known problem and was supposedly fixed already. Basically the touch has two light sensors, the main one which is sensitive to all colors of light plus infrared. But they didn't want it sensitive to infrared so they added a sensor that is just sensitive to infrared. In software they subtract the reading of the infrared one from the wideband one. Unfortunately in a really dark room the wideband one can be 0 and the infrared one 1. Thus when you do 0 - 1 you get -1.The way the code was written that negative one got interpreted as full blown bright sunlight. This has been known for quite sometime and SHOULD be fixed in the latest firmware versions. [SlimDevices: Touch] Lots of 'Grundge' on internet radio stations......
I have noticed a lot of 'Grundge' on internet radio stations. Some of the so called quality stations such as the Jazz Station out of Laramie Wyoming have a lot of low level static and noise on my SBT. But I listened to the Jazz Station out of Minneapolis Jazz 88.5 and I don't hear this 'Grundge'. I was thinking that an internet stream should be mostly free from static and grundge, but I hear it on a lot of stations. Some of it is worse than any tuner I have ever heard. Anyone else notice this and can explain what this noise is? -- Cut-Throat Cut-Throat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43167 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86937 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Ethernet problem - SB on wrong subnet mask
I'm using a new Synology DS111 (1.6GHZ CPU 265MB RAM) NAS, which is plugged in directly to the router. The SBS is on my Samsung laptop (operating wirelessly) and the SB Touch is connected using ethernet over powerline to the router. The Synology is a lovely bit of kit but I may need to look at its power-saving settings. I cam across advice to from Logitech to map the music folder and, maybe this helped, today the library was still there from yesterday and even allowed a 'scan for updated tracks', although even this took over half an hour. Who knows whether it'll be there tomorrow morning. Before starting the SBS I make sure that I put in the security creds for the NAS and this seems to work, so far. Playlists work fine but I notice when I let it randomly choose from the 6,500 (mostly hi-res tracks) that it often stalls within a few seconds of starting the track. I gave up trying to use the SB Touch's wireless connectivity simply because the hi-fi is in the worst possible spot for coverage and it constantly dropped out, although the laptop functions perfectly in the same area. But as I said the SBT connected with the high quality interconnects, I also bought, to my Sugden 21a (pure Class A power) is a revelation now that I can properly hear my 24 bit 96KHz tracks depthe, detail, focus and stability which were all great are just that much better still. -- octafish octafish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45270 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86865 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

There is a low level Shh sound. I was surmising that since this was digital streaming that there should be a 'Black' backround'. I do get a 'Black' Backround on the Minneapolis 88.5 station, but this is the exception. Most of the other stations have a lot of grunge. -- Cut-Throat Cut-Throat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43167 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86937 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Newbie with Questions for the Experts
I havent read all the posts here - My two cents - I would rip to WAV using foobar with SOX SRC (signal rate converter) VHQ linear, converting to 24/96. I would also use a PC and ethernet. A PC has enough power to handle the higher bit rate. Not all converters are the same. I also have dbpoweramp. They use SSRC as a SRC. Not as good in my opinion.
