Thank you!

I made an error in the DAC name with the <,> signs.
The working asound.conf for HRT DACs is the following:

pcm.usbdac {
type hw;
card II;
}
pcm.plugusb {
type plug;
slave.pcm "usbdac";
}
ctl.plugusb {
type hw;
card II;
}

pcm.!default plugusb

Only one problem is now the pops in the sound. When I connect the DAC
the first time everything is fine, but if I change once the ttbuffer
the pops are remaining continuously. Strange..

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Genre Search?

2011-05-11 Thread erland

Can't you just use the "Genres" browse menu (My Music/Genres) ?

I understand the need to search albums, artists, tracks because there
are usually a lot of them but I'm guessing most users haven't got that
many genres, so only offering browsing (but not searching) for genres
should be fine or am I missing something obvious ?
Feels like it should require less clicks/touches to use the browse menu
to me.

How many genres do people who feel this is a problem really have ?

Ah, thanks for the info - this does seems a strange decision. Is it
possible to use a plugin to do a genre search? On the SB3 there was
"lazy search" which did genre and also the custom search plugin which
was extremely configurable. I've not seen anything similar for the SB
touch... is it possible to run the old plugins on the SB touch?

Thanks, Jack.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Ports

2011-05-11 Thread mbalari

Hi, I'm a new user of touch, the team only works ok.
When I use the server, no case of Conet, I get errors of ports.
I have a Linksys router with the software WRT54G/GL/GS DD-WRT v23 SP2
(09/15/06) std - build 3932.
The pc is a HP w4600 running W7pro and would have to configure my
router or my windows, to run the server?
Thank you very much.

im getting my way around the device and getting used to it. Do i need
to do anything when i plug this in? or will the SB just see it and let
me play my music. I had a mate download all this to the HD in lossless
and all tags are good ( whatever that is) anyway can someone tell me
what i need to do step by step in thick as mud terms i can understand.
My computer is a toshiba satillite laptop 4gb.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Genre Search?

2011-05-11 Thread jackocleebrown

Hello,

Is it possible to search for tracks with particular genre tags on the
touch? at the moment when using the search function after selecting "My
Music" the sub menu only allows the choice of "Artist" "Album" and
"Song" but not "Genre". I think it was possible to do on SB3 and on a
search from the server web interface.

Thanks! Jack.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] NAS drive.

2011-05-11 Thread TerryS

I am using a QNAP TS-110 and it works well. I am very happy with it in
fact. But I have to agree with John that a Vortexbox is much easier
and better (from what I have read - I don't have any actual
experience).
I went the NAS route because I believed that it would be the cheapest
solution to a server. The QNAP TS-110 is about the cheapest NAS I
could find that seems to be able to host a Squeezebox server. But if I
had it to do over again, I would definitely look into one of the Intel
ATOM based computers. It looks to me like you could get one for the
same or less money than the NAS I bought, and it would be more powerful
and easier to set up.
The NAS wasn't too bad to set up. I made it through the process and I
am pretty much a computer idiot. But it is not for the timid either.
There are instructions on the QNAP web site. You can look at them and
decide if the process sounds like something you could do.
I have a desktop PC that I can use for ripping, so the Vortexbox (which
includes the CD ROM drive and software to rip with) wasn't necessary to
me. Vortexbox is a nice, all wrapped up, easy to use package, but not
the cheapest solution.
Of course, if you are a bit more brave, and cost is a big issue, the
Squeezeplug, Sheevaplug or any of those "plug" devices has got to be
the cheapest way to go.

Terry

Your best bet is to get a VortexBox appliance, it comes with all the
software loaded and is a fairly low power computer. You can store your
music files on it, it runs SBS very well, and you can use it as a
general purpose NAS for other files if you like.

Interesting. I've used the Settings Manager for player settings
sharing between Boom and SB3/Classic, but I assumed such settings could
not be shared between older and newer players.

What settings on Boom were shared with your Radio? The more common
Boom settings would either be different or not even available on Radio.
Like..
Menu customization, screen customization, artist/song/album screen
format, audio (bass/treble/StereoXL), line out, presets, etc...
