Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I am lost
Its most likely UDP thats causing the problem. The players and the server use UDP multicasts to find each other. Once they find each other they talk via TCP/IP. A lot firewalls have UDP blocked for some reason. With UDP blocked SBS can send music to the player, but neither can tell the other exists! [SlimDevices: Touch] Playback Of 24bit / 88.2 Files
Hi Everyone, Haven't been having any problems so I have been silent... Until now... I have made several updates to my setup and everything is going GREAT, save one issue. When I try to playback 24/88.2 files I get white noise. I can play the files if I enable the "FLAC" option in Squeeze Server under the file types tab. The problem that gives me... Squeeze Server "down samples" everything that I play. All of my files are in an AIFF format... Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Instructions for connecting USB DAC to Touch
This is my first post. Absolute Audio in Calgary, Alberta was kind enough to lend me an Ayre QB-9 to make sure that it works with the SQ Touch. I followed the instructions and have gotten the QB-9 to produce sound. However, there are ticks and pops; they are intermittent and even disappeared for a few songs. The sound is wonderfully spacious and the most analog sounding I have heard from a digital source but sounds like I am to hacked up vinyl. The SB Touch is receiving date wirelessly over a Cisco E2000 router. The computer uses a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core processor and has 2 GB of ram. The music files are on an external Western Digital 1 TB drive in wav form. Should I follow the "tweaks" recommended for Streamer II plus or is there another solution? -- junk.j...@shaw.ca junk.j...@shaw.ca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46664 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82110 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] NAS drive.
Hi Phil, I'd enjoy a thread on the subject. Unfortunately I am too busy at the moment so this will have to wait a bit for me.. I use the new pre-ringing setting in 4.1 and like it, using default settings for a single measurement/correction. Hopefully I can find time to experiment more during the next months. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Stock Touch sound quality - Variable
Hello cparker. I'm not sure if you understood me. After 50-100 hrs of running in the analogue section from new, the sound out of the analogue section has suddenly transformed, form rubbish to very very good indeed. By very good, I mean up there in the £1000+ cd player world. I have £2000 cd player that is better but not by much, and inferior in imaging. I am now very excited about bypassing the output caps, going wired and ding the software mods. I think I'm going to agree with John Swenson after doing so that the internal DAC is very very good indeed. I'm playing through £5000 of valve pre power into Loather DX2 horns, and separately Sugden A21 (amazing but selling on ebay I'm afraid) into electrostatics. I am amazed at the 3D sound-stage, top drawer imaging, and really spine tingling sound, especially through the electrostatics. The only thing lacking compared to my reference is a full-bodied organic texture to instruments. I would say in this department the internal DAC is at about 70% of my reference. I know that what I'm saying is not what most others are saying about the internal DAC, but it makes me wonder if they'v run in the analogue section. Before i ran it in i was dismayed by its sound quality and preparing myself for a DAC purchase. Now i just want to bypass those caps! -- gilbodavid gilbodavid's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45159 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87168 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
