2011-06-19 Thread sikm

Finally cracked the firewall.

Created 6 firewall exceptions, 1 Inbound and 1 Outbound entry for each
of the programs/ports listed in the manual.

All working well now. Many thanks.

You should find squeezeboxserver.exe and allow it to conect , not the
Touch

[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch can't connect to my library

2011-06-19 Thread mr_bill

I have Windows 7 and I can't connect my player (Touch).
When I have the Touch on and try to connect to my library it is no
go.
If I drop the windows firewall, I can connect, but as soon as I put the
windows firewall back on I cannot connect.
All I did was restart my computer and now I have this dilemna.
I can't find the touch or it's ip address in the 'firewall - allow
other programs to connect'
Any help for me?

I'm unsure the interface may be abused by third party apps etc ,another
one is 9090 for cli interface.

On my desktop i'm a bit relaxed re the squeezeboxes, so I have created
a fw rule to allow all conections from that particular ip adress and I
use static ip in my network.

ssh and scp is port 22 ? if you use that . if one uses the Touch in
standalone mode one would also have to make sure that the fw is open
for samba (smb) so that you can transfer files to it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT with USB Hard Drive

2011-06-19 Thread firedog

Dead OS HD in my dedicated server. So I plugged in an iomega Prestige
model USB HD that I'd filled with a backup of my music library.

Works surprisingly well. Much better than my previous attempt at using
a USB drive (WD drive installed in empty USB drive case).

I miss a few plugins I had installed in SBS, and yes the Touch is less
responsive (reacts more slowly) this way. I think the sound is also
slightly harsher (maybe due to addition of USB drive wall wart PS to
setup?).

But overall I'm pleasantly surprised. I will fix my dedicated server
and go back to using it; but I could live with this for a while if
needed.

Have used a couple of these and IMO noise was reduced over stock
switching supplies.

Not saying linear supplies are pointless, just saying that the labels
"linear" and "switching" don't necessarily denote quality or better
sound.

Sometimes "linear ps" is thrown around like "any linear PS will be an
audible upgrade".

[SlimDevices: Touch] Syncronized lyrics with .lrc files

2011-06-19 Thread BlackTornado

Hello

I'm slowly adding some lyrics to my collection as .lrc files in my
music folder, since my .mp3 player is able to read them, making a sort
of karaoke and scrolling the lyrics together with the song.

Now, I was wondering... I have a wonderful squeezebox touch with a big
touch screen... Is there a way to make it doing the same thing?

What I need is a plugin that just reads the .lrc files (saved in the
same folder of the music file, with the same name except for the .lrc
extension) and visualize it properly.
I don't even need any "lyrics fetching" feature, I just want to read
the .lrc I already have.

I tried to search through the forum, but I haven't been able to find
anything like that.
Is there a way to do that?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Tracks finishing early and skipping to next song

2011-06-19 Thread lcrim

I have encountered a similar issue as per this post
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88284

Only happens occasionally but having songs end abruptly and then next
selection starting is annoying. Only occurs in random mode, and only
during that playback session.
Using WinXP Pro as server OS. All connections wired. Sending PCM to
Touch from flac library. When playing same selection during playback of
full CD, no truncation.

This isn't the end of the world but still shouldn't happen.
Any ideas why this is happening?

The question is - how good is the one that comes with the Touch? Mine
seems to occasionally 'buzz'. I suspect it's related to the power
coming in to my home. After reading about linear power supplies, I
bought one. While I can't say for certain that it sounds dramatically
better (although I think there is an improvement in quieter
backgrounds), I can say that it doesn't 'buzz'.

Anyone else experience a buzzing from the supplied wall-wart that comes
with the Touch?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] rsync on the Touch

2011-06-19 Thread Heth

Hi again Jean.

Yes i know you are running Linux. In fact, I mentioned this sync tool
because it’s a simple way to implement a good reliable synchronization
in a win environment, without using a virtual pc in order run Linux.
I’ve used this program for almost 6 month now, and only once
experienced time stamping problems. At this point, it was related to
internal clock in the touch, and after performing a factory restore I
was up and running again.

Regards, Henrik

It can not hurt to create inbound and outbound rules .

port 9000 is the web interface, now you can reach it from other
computers onmyour network not only the machine running the server
http:/ < server ip > :9000

3483. Is the discovery function, basically the server broadcasts on
this port " helo i'm a squeezebox server" playrs notice this

So; if I only want to interface the Touch with one computer on the
network then I don't require a rule for port 9000?

When creating a rule do I need to include Dominion/Private and Public?
