[SlimDevices: Touch] Pop when changing tracks of different sampling rate

2012-03-04 Thread eduardoo

I just got my SBT installed, running its coaxial into my DAC. I notice
that whenever I change tracks of different sampling rate (e.g. 96/24
then 44/16, or vice versa) there is a pop sound (sounding like a
highish frequency static sound). I have no idea if it would harm my
system, but at the very least, it is sort of annoying. Is there anyway
to avoid this? BTW, I have soundcheck's tt3.0 running, too.

Thanks.

Not quite 100% Apple (yet?) Although if I start a tally sheet, my wife
has a Mac PC, iPad,and iPod, and I have an Ipod and mac mini. I use a
Dell laptop primarily and there are 2 other desktop Windows 7 in the
house. Looks like Apple has the edge!

I have a few days (and nights) off at the end of the week. I'll be
able to experiment with the router and settings when all is quiet and I
won't interrupt any one's computer work!

[SlimDevices: Touch] Skipping ahead to next track b4 current track is done

2012-03-04 Thread ls35a

My Touch starting doing this recently. It is random and unrepeatable,
but it happens every day.

I'll be listening to the Hanson 2nd symphony, get about five minutes
into the 1st movement and it skips ahead to the 2nd movement.

I'm playing FLAC files over wireless. This unit is over a year old and
this is a new problem. I've had the disconnects from the network and
the 'stopped' problems, but this is new and VERY annoying.

I'm running my server on Win7 64bit.

Any suggestions other than pay two grand for a server? I've so tired
of these Touch problems, the 'stopping', the disconnects, now the
skipping the end of tracks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Show only FLAC if FLAC and MP3 exist?

2012-03-04 Thread KarlBlomquist

Ok thanks everyone I was initially hoping there was some variant of
custom scan or custom browse that could do it - I'm still getting up to
speed on SBS.

Looks like I have some reorganizing to do... as you mentioned, it's not
a terrible amount of work - just need to do it and then keep up with
it.

PS. I do note that SONOS can not do this either... so it's not like
we're going backwards here. At least the Touch/Controller can play
24/96.

Suggest trying with kernel #4 as it has slightly more debug messages.
Can you ssh into touch and see what dmesg shows when you try to start
playback (this is where any errors will be shown)

Working fine for me with IE and FF. Try clearing the LMS cache, then
reboot LMS (it may reboot upon cache clear).
LMS > Control Panel > Advanced > Clean Cache > Run Cleanup

I did not.

Among the things I tried where:

SBT -> SPDIF -> Moon 650 (very good)
MacBook -> USB2 -> Moon 650 (better)
Windows Laptop -> USB2 -> Evo -> SPDIF-> Moon 650 (same as previous,
which was somewhat unexpected to us)

SBT -> SPDIF -> Wadia PowerDac 151 (very good)
Ubuntu Desktop -> USB2 -> Audiophilleo -> SPDIF -> Wadia PowerDac 151
(better)

I will install your kernel 3 sometime next week and hook the
Audiophilleo up to the SBT and let you know :-)

regards,
Tom

Did you do any of these tests using the SBT USB output (as discussed on
this thread). If so can you confirm so we can record which dacs are
working. Very interested if any of these dacs are usb audio class 2.

I did several comparisons with the M2Tech Evo, Audiophilleo and Fostex
HP-P1 and the SPDIF output from the devices clearly outperform the one
from the SBT (with or without Soundcheck). Tests where performed with a
Moon 650 (with the new async USB Interface) and an AMR DP 777.

SPDIF is not nearly as elegant as a direct async USB connection to DAC
but it can perform on a level that makes indistinguishable to at least
me and some of my friends. The SBT SPDIF is really very good, but IMHO
cannot be compete with the converters mentioned above.

I have the same in my library.

I add "(flac)" to the end of the ALBUM tag which allows me to pick the
flac or mp3 version when both exist in the same directory.

I also find this helpful when using my player in the garage as it
doesn't have a strong wireless signal and rebuffers constantly playing
flac. I can easily select the mp3 version to play with this setup.

You do end up with 2 album entries when browsing.
