I can confirm that the Eximus DP1 is doing fine with the latest applet
and kernel. However, I still get occasional dropouts with 192KHz flac
coded files, decoding done by SBT. 96KHz files play fine.

Thanks. I think I will try a temporary wired connection between the
router and my laptop and then my router and my Touch to see If I am able
to hear any differences. I am sure I will be very busy this weekend:)

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

2012-04-25 Thread Man in a van

Just thought I would share a few observations with regard to Triode’s
EDO applet.

First of all a very big thanks for all the work you do Triode, it’s all
just amazing!!

I use a HFface2 usb to spdif converter with the ‘Touch into an Essensio
DAC via coax, which plays back wav and flac files at 16/44 and my
solitary flac file at 24/192.

(The usb input of this DAC is the M2Tech proprietary one and is not
recognised by the EDO applet, neither is the original HiFace converter).

Oh, thanks for the BBC stuff as well!!!

Ronnie.

An alternative is to hard wire the Touch to a wireless bridge/repeater.
I use such a setup and I'm very satisfied with the results.

Whether or not hard wire sounds better than wireless is not a question
that can be answered a-priori. It probably depends on one's system,
preferences, expectations, etc. In my system and to my ears, there is a
subtle increase in clarity (better S/N ratio?). But I would not claim
any major improvement. Nor would I claim that you will hear any.

Happy listening!

[SlimDevices: Touch] Switching Libraries - what is this all about ?

2012-04-25 Thread theadmans

I run a Touch with my music on my home PC running LMS.

I also have a USB stick inserted which contains no music but does have
pictures which I use with the slideshow feature on the Touch.

I used to be able to switch seemlessly between listening to music on by
PC (My Music) and the Spotify App. Lately I have been selecting Spotify
and getting "Cannot resolve IP address of mysqueezebox.com". If I then
choose to Switch Library to "Adam's Squeezebox (USB)" then Spotify
works. Then if I try My Music it is pointing at the USB stick which
contains no music so I have to switch Libraries again.

I have put the Switch Libraries option on my front screen to make things
easier. However, do I really need to do all this Library Switching or is
something setup wrong - I am sure that I did not use to have to do this?
Also I cannot see the connection between Spotify and the USB Library -
surely they are unrelated?

2012-04-25 Thread aubuti

No, you shouldn't need to do any library switching. I have no idea why
the SB can't find mysqueezebox.com when connected to your regular LMS,
but can when connected via the Touch's built-in LMS (which is what the
USB stick is using). Try rebooting your router to see if that takes care
of the "Cannot resolve IP address..." error.

What version of LMS is running on your PC, and what version on the
Touch's built-in server?

Yes - all reports of uac2 dacs seem to use s32_le. (The most recent one
in EOD 0.5 contains an optimisation for 32bits which I could not test,
but I am assuming that its working for other users as there are over 150
installs of it)

I'm interested in what the dmesg log says in this case, ssh to the dac
and type "dmesg" - are there any errors at the end of it?

I think this is the first dac I've seen which does not have descrete
rates, but a range of sample rates - can you confirm the exact output of
/proc/asound//stream0

[SlimDevices: Touch] Help!

2012-04-25 Thread canvas

Hi guys hope you can help. I'm pulling my hair out at the minute.

I have just spent over a month ripping my collection, and using my
squeezebox without any problems in between mass ripping sessions.

Finally got everything ripped last night, rescanned my library, and all
of a sudden my squeezebox does not play tracks.

It displays them in the artist, album menus etc... but when I go to
play, it displays 'network test' in the now playing screen.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Afraid that means the linux kernel probably doesn't support your dac at
present. Can you PM me your email address and I will look at the code
to see if there is anything we can do about this.

What kind of server & network are you using? The first thing I'd try is
rebooting the router, the server and the touch. But it's hard to
pinpoint without more info about your system.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Switching Libraries - what is this all about ?

2012-04-25 Thread theadmans

OK I have now also rebooted my PC and the problem appears to be fixed.

Earlier I had tried exiting LMS and restarting it but this did NOT fix
the the problem. I noticed when you do this LMS reloads quicker than
when it the PC reboots. When I reboot the LMS is flashing for a fair
while as the software loads - does a reboot reset the LMS better than
just exiting and restarting?

What OS, and exactly how are you restarting LMS? On Linux I don't notice
any difference between restarting LMS vs rebooting the pc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Help!

Thanks for your reply and sorry for lack of info. Just running the
latest version of squeezecentre through a readynas duo. I think I have
already solved the problem though. I just reinstalled the squeezebox
software onto the touch and it seems to have done the trick. Don't ask
me how! :-/

Thanks
