Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Async USB Dac Experiments - testers wanted...

2012-06-19 Thread diego

Hi there Triode!

Good news: The TE8802L-DAC GETS detected with Windows Firmware on it and
Kernel #9 on SBT.

"Bad" news: The behaviour is the same, as with EDO only (and its normal
Kernel), and the Linux-Test-Firmware. That means:
- 44100/16 plays OK. When everything is just plugged in, cat... show
values varying slightly around 44100. As soon as everything has plaied
for some time, it stays on exactly 44100k.
- 48000/24 plays OK. cat... always shows 48002
- 96000/24 has two different situations:
>when all the gear is still cold: cat... shows values around 176004k.
Sound is very aweful. Just noise, with some small idea of the music in
the background.
>after playing for a while: cat... values shown switch between:
88004, 96002, 104002 Hz. Always arount these 3 values with plus minus
2Hz. Sound clicks very frequently music is recocnisable.

I send you the text files with all the cat... and dmesg outcomes by mail
(as here, I can only post two attachments at one time)

To answer your other question: On Windows, the DAC with this firmware
works OK with all frequencies up to 96K (not tested above) and word
lengths of 16 and 24b.

(And just to explain: After a while of trying out, I found the reason
for "DAC not detected" in my last tests: When rebooting, SBT/EDO seems
to search for the last connected usb DAC. If the last usb dac is not
detected, it stays on the "DAC not connected" screen (maybe you might
modify the EDO so, that it goes by default to the screen, where the
output can be selected).

So... now I am very keen to know the next step :) ! Thanks again for
helping!

EDIT: Just got my I2S - connection - Kit to fit in between my
USB-Interface and my DAC. Bypassing spdif between the DI and the DAC
will allow me to use 192K. So after a bit of soldering and with some
luck that I don't mess up something, I will be able to try 176.4 and
192khz. There is probably little chance that it works better than 96k,
but who knows...

[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Time

2012-06-19 Thread Waldo Pepper

For the last six months I have used a simple manual script that SSH'd in
to correct the clock drifiting at 30 secs/24 hours on my PC (used
daily).

A few weeks back it did not appear to require correcting and using my PC
clock, noticed it appeared to be synched to a time server and being spot
on 24/7 without having to manually run the script.

Last week I returned from work to see the screen showing all the "My
Music","Settings" type page as if it had rebooted but not resorted to
showing the clock.

Since then I am back to have to set it manually every day just as
before.

I have altered nothing and only use it for playing music a few times a
week. However I rely on the big bright clock daily.

Has anyone any idea what is happening?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Time

2012-06-19 Thread Mnyb

Did you ba any chance use a server running on your PC or
mysqueezebox.com ?

Touch usually drifts when running on the internal server , but when
conected to an external server it gets time from there .
In stand alone mode it is suposed to get mysb.com time anyway ,but it
does not work unless you sometimes switch over to mysb.com .

Jean 2 has installed ntp on his Touch .

Updated files in the end of the tread .

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Tagging my wife's CDs

2012-06-19 Thread JohnSwenson

My wife (Chris) and I have the same issue, what we did was make a set a
genres for each of us, hers all start with C_ mine all start with J_, we
just have to make sure that for every CD we rip we don't use the "off
the internet" genre but put it under one of ours. We haven't had any
problems at all with this arrangement.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Failed to parse error

2012-06-19 Thread Mardler

Same problem here with Favourites (re internet radio) - 2 stations fail.
All I am doing is trying to store favourite stations - Roberts Radio
does it FAR better.

This is a seriously buggy bit of kit and is, frankly, unfit for purpose.

A truly nasty product.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Failed to parse error

2012-06-19 Thread bpa

"Failed to parse" messages are usually caused by server not receiving an
complete XML message - often the last few bytes are missing. Common
causes are a slow network connection (i.e. message timed out) or
security s/w / devices "holding " onto to last packet of a message for
too long.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Failed to parse error

2012-06-19 Thread Mardler

It remains a nasty product; the user interface is appalling.

However I have managed to add some favourite stations to the list - but
now need to sort it!

The "fail to parse" comes up if you attempt to select an internet radio
provider (yet it will play the station if selected via that provider
just not in favourites!). I deleted the entry using a provider and
instead searched for the stations using "Internet radio" as the
"provider". Strangely, the BBC stations are OK - also selected via an
app.

It looks as though I'll have to delete everything, copy all my Roberts
Stream 83I favourites on paper and then add them to LST in some useful
order.

As I said, an appalling bit of kit.

Can you provide the URL that causes the problem - I'd be interested to
see if it is a general issue. If so I'll open a bug report.

[SlimDevices: Touch] post now playing to facebook wall

2012-06-19 Thread kllngtme

Hi all, im lost, I've read that since facebook was inplemented to
squeezebox that it will post the now playing to my facebook wall and
such. I haven't found a way to figure this out. Everytime I click
facebook it directs me to my squeezebox, and it stops the music, and
obviosuly im not on my own library anymore so it wont post the song or
whatever.

Does anyone have a rundown of how to get this going on the touch or any
of the squeezeboxes?

[SlimDevices: Touch] HOWTO: Get list of favourite artists on squeezebox

2012-06-19 Thread asplundj

Threre are of course a lot of things that doesn't work conveniently with
the spotify app on squeezebox. However, I figured out a way to get a
list of favourite artists into the squeezebox touch (perhaps this is
common knowledge).This Howto assumes that you're usingmysqueezebox.com
and not you own server

1. Find the artist you want to add and right click the artist name and
select "copy HTTP link"
2. Log into http://www.mysqueezebox.com/ in your browser and go to
Favourites
3. Paste the URL and write the name of the artist and click add.
4. Repeat this for all artists you want to add. The list can be sorted
by dragging the entries

Now you'll have a list that will be easy accesible from the squeezebox
homescreen->Favourites. When you click an Artist name you will go to the
artists page where you can choose Albums or tracks. The only drawback is
that you will have tons of albums to choose from. Most being duplicates
and you have to find the one that are availabile in your region. But you
will have this problem also if you search for an artist. This really
needs to be fixed
