Thanks. D#243; you tweak TT 3.0 in any way before you install it after
the Triode app?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

2012-08-19 Thread Rosewind

Triode and Soundcheck.

Both if you: thanks for the good work!

I now have EDO working in my system with a Metrum Octave DAC. I will
apply Soundcheck mods later. I run 7.7.2 and have SB Touch do the work
as my server/network was not up to the task with 176/24 flac.

The config is:
Synology NAS 209+
hardwired to
Netgear Wifi router
hardwired to
SB Touch
COAX out
Metrum Octave DAC

The Metrum Octave DAC locks onto 176/24 but not 192/24. This is as
expected. Experiments with a reclocking unit between the SB Touch
beckons as it would be nice to play back all my 9 192/24 files at their
native resolution ... Thank God All my HD Tracks Rolling Stones material
works. :)

I would also like to test if music files that are upsampled to 176/24
indeed do sound better through the Metrum than if played back at their
native resolution/sampling frequencies.

Best wishes,
Peter

[SlimDevices: Touch] Network problem touch with wifi

2012-08-19 Thread merrick

Since I moved my PC to the attic, the Touch can't find my music
collection on the PC.
(I dont have a NAS and have WIFI)

I tried to 'up' the signal by adding a wifi repeater in my home.
This didnt change a thing for the Touch (my signal was much better, but
the PC was still not found)
Now I tried to put powerline adapters in my home network.

Its setup is like this:
Ubee Cable modem -- Cisco linksys E2000 (wifi) router -- TP link
500mbps powerline adapter

The PC in the attic is also linked with a TP link powerline adapter.

The SB Touch is linked into the the network through the wifi repeater
whith a UTP cable

I CAN play internetradio through mysqueezebox.com but cannot acces my
FLAC's on the PC.

All advice is very welcome.

Verify that both player server are on the same network. Sure DHCP is

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SSH via cyberduck help

2012-08-19 Thread aubuti

I'm not familiar with Cyberduck, but as far as I know the Touch does not
support SFTP. It does support ssh and scp protocols. So if Cyberduck has
scp support, try that. Or go into the Touch via terminal and ssh, and
then use the scp command.

No tweaks to TT before installing it. No vollock, though. However, I do
apply SBGK's blog values after TT is installed.

otherwise, try putting a cloth over the tweeter

I bought an S-Booster a while back figuring that for the price I didn't
have much to lose. I left it in for a few weeks and forgot about it.
Then a couple of weeks ago I decided to pull it out. I found the sound
became more lively without it. Was I imagining things? Anyhow, yesterday
I popped it back in and things sounded dull again.

Sometimes it's a compromise between smooth and dull vs harsh and
lively. I'll give it another try but for now I find my sound to be as
smooth as it'll probably get with the Touch. (or maybe I'm imagining
things...)

A sidenote - After owning it for several months I decided to give my
Oppo BDP-93 a try as a transport(PC running
Mezzmo---ethernet---Oppo---S/PDIF---EE DAC). To me it bettered the
Touch + CIA Power supply + EDO + TT3.0 + SBGK in every way.
The tradeoff, in this case, is that it's not as user friendly as the
Touch.

Two comments. First, I find recordings to be far more variable than
anything I do to my system. Sometimes the tweak that best highlights one
recording brings out the worst in another. The problem in trying to
fix things that way is it quickly becomes a dog chasing its own tail.

Second, humans have very vivid imaginations and it is very easy to make
grand declarations about small changes.

The nice thing for the person playing recordings in their home is that
the only thing that really matters is that they are happy with their
system.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Squeeze Server Not Working

2012-08-19 Thread Astroimage

Hi All,

It has been a long time since I have needed to ask a question but...
Well... I am having a problem. My Touch is now hard down.

When I click on the system preferences pane for my Mac (running OS X
Lion 10.7.4) I am having MAJOR issues. Here are the steps that I am
doing:

- Launch System Preferences
- Click on Logitech Media Server
- The Logitech window saying To use the “Logitech Media Server”
preferences pane, System Preferences must quit and reopen. opens.
- I select OK and the screen disappears... never to reopen... Nothing
happens... Nothing after that.

What can I do? This is awful... I have to reload CD's

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Brian

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] How to improve Touch sound?

2012-08-19 Thread Turnandcough

Actually I'm quite happy with my humble Touch based system. I was an
early SB adopter and have converted many to it.

I#8217;m most happy when I play random music and do things about the
house. It allows me to listen to the music, not the system. But just
like the people who own megabuck systems I inevitably end up on one of
these forums and the tweaking starts over again. It's OK, it's part of
the game.

What I'm saying is that with the Oppo feeding my DAC, violin is sweeter,
piano sounds meatier and muted trumpets are a little bit easier to
listen to with the volume past 9 o'clock. Navigating the menu is another
story and I still haven#8217;t figured out how to select genres and
play my music folder randomly#8230;yet. So the Touch remains my go to
source...for now.

And yeah Pat Barber Café Blue sounds good no matter what. I save Stones
fingernails on a blackboard records for my crappy car stereo.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Android SqueezeBox Touch app can no longer find my music folder on the network

2012-08-19 Thread pzbrawl

The SqueezeBox Touch itself can find the same network drive, and so can
another app running on the same android tablet, so this isn't a network
problem.

The SqueezeBox android app finds my Sirius subscription but no longer
can find my music folder.

What do I have to do to fix this?
