Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Digital/Analog simultaneously on Touch
I think it's quite common for a slight delay when applying processing in the amp to a digital signal. Even using the analogue in for zone 1 may have the same issue if your amp is doing any processing (for example if your amp has options for using the sub in stereo) Might be worth trying analogue for both zones. Failing that your only option for good syncing might be a 2nd SB in zone 2, there's delay settings in LMS to tweak for a good sync if necessary. Agree with Mnyb. :) My only experience with Energy is the Take 5.1 setup, never heard the Micros. I'm also a big Yamaha fan (avr and motorcycles :)) but I only recommended the posted Yamaha and Denon as examples of decent budget gear below the $200 mark. Do shop, research, compare. The important thing is that posted $600 system above will out perform the Bose 2.1 and give you FAR more flexibility in the future. I assume you have restarted the Touch. Do you use authentication (username + password) and do you run more than one server? I'm also frequently seeing this but it usually helps to reboot the Touch. The problem is that the player part of the touch connects but not the controller. It seems go somehow also be related to WiFi reception, I only see it with a week connection, maybe a timing issue. pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96804 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Base the system on a modern digital AVR which will handle myriad sources and you can't go wrong. I use Denon but there are lots of competent ones these days as Toby notes. Listen to Mnyb and avoid any speakers with micro in the name unless you simply can't fit anything larger. :) My favorite really small speaker is the NHT SuperZero 2.0 but they do need a little sub of some kind as they're not big enough for decent bass. Start with a nice 2.1 system and add speakers as needed and budget allows. Next thing virtual 4WD drive on the 2 front wheels... Simply the front speakers must be able to do voices in a decent manner , the midrange is most important . On a tigth budget one migth have to weigth the need for sub for movie fun and front speakers that have some hifi like qualities regarding music ? decisions decisions . NHT is a good suggestion to :) as is BW ,Dali ,Dynaudio ,PSB ,Boston ,Wharferdale etc etc But there are no shortage of good small speakers , to many brands to fill this tread with . Moving the static IPs up in the hundreds and re-adjusting the DHCP pool settings to use those below 100 seem to have done the trick. Thanks. Tip: I didn't find a way of manually changing the IPs on the TOUCH and radios, so I temporarily disabled DCHP on the router and following a reset of the devices, they prompt for an IP address. Once set, renabled DCHP pool and rebooted the whole system including router and hey ho. WakeOnLan aka WOL is something the squeezebox always try against it latest conected server , this is quite neat as many modern computers will be in sleep mode when not used for a while and hence not visible to the Touch . Even a successfully WOL can take some time depending on the computers status how fast it wakes . It can even boot the computer. In such case you try to choose my music Touch find no server but it sends out the WOL command either waking or booting the machine , but if this takes to long you will have an error message ignore that and don't touch anything and it will fix itself when things are ready , that is how it is supposed to work . Now I don't know if this is relevant to your NAS at all if it has a sleep mode or if it is supporting wakeOnLan at all . What can throw in a spanner here is that almost no wifi network cards supports WOL , but this probably does not apply to your NAS . But in such cases LMS running on a wifi conected laptop that goes to sleep could be unavailable until someone manually wakes it up . This is another reason to why we recommend thatnthe server should be wired . Back to,the subjects of ports . There can be another problem that can thwart conectivity that is if the server and the player is not on the same network and subnet for example in your case 192.168.0.x and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 where x differs on the clients . You can get this even if you think have the rigth ip adresses by using another router as wifi ap but connecting or setting it up the wrong way so that it forms it own network ,it may itself be a client to the main router .
