Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SB Touch for sale
Lots of car, mobile phone, amplifier, coffee machine models are discontinued...do you sell those too after one month? So what's wrong with the Controller, then? Have used mine for some four years now, no problem at all... Zombie wrote: So what's wrong with the Controller, then? Have used mine for some four years now, no problem at all... My main complaint with the Controller is the lack of a text based search. While scrolling is okay for limited collections, for large collections nothing is faster than a good old text based search. Heck even the great and powerful Saint Jobs realized this and replaced the scrolling on the iPod with text abilities on the iPod Touch, iPhone and the iPad. ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97005 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Compare this with an iPod touch which can do LOTS of things, including serve as a superior Squeezebox remote. Other negatives: 1) It's quite slow/sluggish 2) Abysmal battery life. You have to replace the battery on these things every year or two, and you pretty much have to leave the Controller in the charger at all times; if you want to carry it around for a few hours you'll probably exhaust the battery. 3) I had intermittent issues with lousy wifi reception with mine 4) As has been mentioned, the actual interface is kinda hard to use. The scroll wheel isn't terribly smooth or precise; combine that with the sluggishness and I always felt it ended up being really fussy. azinck3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3967 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97005 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

But she's a very limited user. She picks it up from the cradle on the kitchen counter and turns the system ON and chooses either an internet radio station (stored as a favorite) or clicks on one of many Random Play Dynamic playlists for different types of music that I've saved as Favorites. So she's rarely searching for anything. After that it is mostly just using the Volume control. I agree that the controller was overpriced for what it is. I much prefer using my iphone, ipad, or SqueezePlay on my laptop, which is often in front of me at the kitchen table. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97005 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Yeah, if you already own a Controller it has some value, but I'd never advise someone to buy a Controller at this point when a used iPod Touch can be had for similar money. azinck3's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3967 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97005 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] Turning off optical out when asleep
Is there a way to power off the digital output on the Touch when it goes into sleep mode? I have the optical out running to an Audioengine D1 DAC that is also connected to my Mac via USB. I'd like to be able to switch between them easily, but the D1 always gives priority to the optical input. Right now I have to physically unplug the cable in order to get sound from the computer. cjfreitag's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41363 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97166 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Sit iPAD in a stand (that keeps it charged) and the iPad will show the album art and track/album name info. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97005 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: Bose CineMate GS Series II Digital Home Theater Speaker System
Ok just a re-cap. Completed considerable research and as stated the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system received high marks from all sources for the price. I was speaking with a buddy who has a very high end audio system (4 rooms) and mentioned I was looking at the Energy speakers and he stated that they were the speakers he had throughout the house. Although his are the higher end, the technology comes from the same lab so I was convinced. Since Energy is also owned by Klipsh how could one go wrong. Since I was only looking for a single zone system the Yamaha RX-V371 also came with good reviews so I decided to go with this receiver. Also $100 less than the new model as it is no longer in production. $700 all-in with cables and speaker mounts. Installation is half the fun and after a methodical long weekend setup the system was up and running. After breaking in the speakers for the required 50hrs. + I am not disappointed at all with this system. Audio quality does vary depending on the source, but overall is quite impressive. The little sub does a decent job and can be adjusted to suit your taste. The busy tall tower speaker LG system was never an aesthetic feature of the room and the nice compact Energy speakers make for a nice simple look. With the Squeezebox Touch, gone is the Marantz receiver, CD player, and DVD player. New system includes the Yamaha receiver, Sony Blu-ray, Squeezebox Touch, and XM radio receiver. Thanks for the recommendations Toby and appreaciate the comments from all above. Ya gotta love new technology slice235's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96803 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
