Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

2014-01-18 Thread pierrepfeffer

apple lossless: disabled
flac: faad/sox
mp3: disabled
pcm: disaled

Using the above server settings, and using the coax connection between
touch and dacmagic 100, I appear to be getting 192 frequency through to
the dac.

Switching between different frequency 24 bit source files the dac
responds with the correct frequency (correct corresponding light).

One item of note regarding the dacmagic 100 - it signals frequency by
illuminating a corresponding light. It has no light to signal 176.4,
and it wouldn't play a 176.4 frequency file.

Thanks all for the help ... and thank you Triode for a great app.

MOG support could well become a moot point very soon on both platforms.
MOG has been acquired by Beats Music, and Beats Music has not been very
clear about their plans for the transition. I read something in another
thread about a cut-over on January 21, but without any details for what
that means for current MOG subscribers, and especially what the future
holds for partners like Squeezeboxes.

I can't imagine losing the flexibility and extensibility (is that a
word?) of SB, especially with all the work going on with
CommunitySqueeze.

I love to experiment and tune; I believe that would be impossible in the
Sonos ecosystem.

I know Sonos has a support forum, but I cannot imagine a better one this
:)

so you see the 3rd party plugins now? Note that you need to look at top
of this list, because Triodes spotify app is named "3rd Party Spotify"
and shows up alphabetically at the top of the list.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Goodbye!

2014-01-18 Thread Stratmangler

I've had no stability issues running Spotify or anything else I wanted
to use with the 2 Touches and Zyxel NSA310 (running LMS).
One Touch is on ethernet, the other wireless, and the NSA310 is
connected via ethernet.

It appears that the OP is simply having a snipe at Logitech, which is
something they've done on the wrong forum.
Sadly some folk have difficulty dealing with sophisticated devices.
The Sonos is something that requires less understanding to operate, so
I'm sure the OP has found something that is simple enough for him to
operate, whilst still giving the impression of being technologically
savvy.

Bye bye :p

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Goodbye!

2014-01-18 Thread HeadBanger

If you are buying a player just for Spotify (or mainly for) then I would
agree Logitech and Spotify made a complete hash of it. I tried it and
Spotify constantly crashed my Touch and the user interface is pretty
damn rubbish. You must get better results with Triode's plug in as there
seems to be many happier users (I cannot run this as I run a BSD server
that is not supported by Triode).

Highest bit rates and perceived sound quality were not top of my list of
requirements as I don't use streaming services as my main source and
just wanted a service to find new music. Napster (Rhapsody) is leagues
ahead in this regard. It costs half the price of Sprotify, doesn't crash
any of my SB devices and has a far superior UI - you can actually find
relevant new music! The other bonus is that you can play independent
streams to multiple devices unlike Spotify where if you are limited to
just one stream.

Anyway, enjoy Spotify on your new Sonos but I think you may miss the
other functionality that Squeezebox offers. I'd struggle to live with
that white box in my Hi-Fi rack though!
