I have a Benchmark DAC I (which is a highly rated DAC) connected to one of my Touch players. In a (single) blind test, I can't detect which DAC is being used (touch vs benchmark). I agree that the Touch DAC seems quite good. (the main reason I'm using the Benchmark is so that I can use the BALANCED ANALOG OUTs of the Benchmark instead of the unbalanced analog out (rca) of the TOUCH. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.8 Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 iPadAir2 (iPeng8 Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103285 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

And if it does not have pass through, then of course there is no point in changing from your current setup, if you need to continue using the AVR. Putting analog into the Denon will just convert to digital so that the AVR's digital processing can be done, and then back to analog with the Denon DAC. This assumes your model does some type of DSP, etc. jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103285 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] IR sensor ALMOST dead - any cure?

The module itself only filters out the IR carrier which is around 38kHz. If you have ruled out other sources that might interfere with IR like neon lights, TV sets, etc. ... After that I would try to replace the IR module with a similar one. They all seem to have the same pinout. Pin 1 = IR out Pin 2 = VCC Pin 3 = GND I have opened my Touch and measured the signals on the IR module. Results: - the VCC is AWFUL, terrible ripple at high frequency. Maybe because the wifi antenna is just next to the IR module? - the IR out reacts correctly when the remote is sending, even at distances where the Touch doesn't react to commands - the IR outs is active all the time, i.e. it modulates even when the remote is not sending (even when I switch off all lights in the room) - the remote works better when the oscilloscope is connected between GND and IR out Well, I see two possible causes: - the IR module is somehow half-dead and sends all the time scrap to the decoding chip, which has problems with that. Solvable by replacing the IR module (i have alread some replacements modules, but the have the wrong pinning... GND and VCC inverted) - some decoupling capacitors are dead and there is too much ripple everywhere in my Touch - hopeless Any opinions / clues? The vast majority of AV amps just run the analog inputs trough an AD converter and it's then aviable just like any other source and then outputs thought the built in DA converters . It makes sense ona lot of ways to do so . Is it conected digitally to the denon ? not the analog outs .
