Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] mysqueezebox.com back to LMS
Have you tried restarting the player? I've seen cases where if LMS is down for a while, some of my Radio or Touch players don't see it when it comes back. A restart of the player resolves it. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Display turns on by itself
I've seen the same thing starting about 3 or 4 weeks ago. It affects both Touch and Radio and seems to affect synced players (volume and power not synced). I'm running SBS 7.6 and the latest firmware. Haven't had time to investigate in detail. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88616 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] My new SB Touch won't accept WEP password
I'm not sure if this is relevant to the OP's question, but I wanted to clear up a common source of confusion about WPA passwords that often leads to a misunderstanding of this can't enter the last character of my password issue. WPA supports WPA hex keys up to 64 characters or WPA passphrases up to 63 characters. Unless it's been recently changed, the SB Touch only supports the passphrase. So, if you are trying to enter a 64 character hex key, it will appear to not allow the last character. In reality, you are entering the wrong thing. You are entering the hex key when you should be entering the passphrase. Hope this helps. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86696 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Potential Newbie Sheevaplug Touch questions
Like others, I'm not sure I fully understand your desired topology, but FWIW, here are some of my experiences: - I have tested a setup using a guruplug server plus with a USB hard drive where both the guruplug and multiple players were connected wirelessly to a Linksys router. I was able to reliably stream FLAC to multiple players. YMMV depending on the layout of your home and the placement of your players. With that said, I use (and would recommend) a setup where a sheevaplug is wired to the router and all players are wireless. - The small size of the plug makes it easy to collocate with the router and wire it. - I see no reason for the added expense of either the guruplug or an eSATA drive. - If you are new to Linux, you can use the squeezeplug installer. - There are fewer reports of heat issues with the sheevaplug than the guruplug and they seem to have been addressed sooner. I have no experience with the soundcheck recommendations. Personally, I assume that their setup really does provide measurable improvements. I also assume that the quality of both my ears and the rest of my equipment will never allow me to hear such a difference. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81245 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Personally, I tend to think that a bogus return is the most likely culprit, but for the benefit of the skeptics... 1) Do you always take photos when unboxing your Amazon purchases? 2) Or, was there something suspicious looking about the outside of the shipping box that prompted you to take photos? 3) Or, did you put the Logitech box back inside the Amazon box for the photo after the fact to simulate the unboxing experience? -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79826 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

JohnSwenson;482611 Wrote: There are a number of people that have used the sheevaplug as a sever, it costs $99 and looks like a wallwart, it takes about 3 watts so it won't cost too much in energy. It has an ethernet port and a USB jack, you plug it into the router, switch etc and a USB drive in the USB jack and load squeezebox server. It would be a much better choice for a large library. The raw sheevaplug has some software bugs that need fixing before you can really use it, but there is a device from a reseller called the PogoPlug that seems to have software issues worked out. (it has NAS software builtin, plug into the network, plug the drive in and connect to it over a web browser). I mentioned this in another thread, but the Sheeva and Pogo run different different Linux distros. The Sheeva runs Ubuntu and it's fairly trivial to run Sbs on it. Pogo, by default has no perl and if you install openpogo, it's a non-threaded perl. This won't work with Sbs. -- Mark Miksis Mark Miksis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=529 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71012 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

If a future SbS includes those non-threaded modules, I will volunteer to figure out how to build an .ipk. I think it's just a .deb in a different archive format, but I haven't looked.
