Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] ROON/ROCK to SBT via USB

Yes, control from ROON works well.
I'll just leave it connected as-is and set the screen to a clock or
something, thanks for the feedback.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] ROON/ROCK to SBT via USB

2018-01-03 Thread paltomare

Thanks for your reply.
What you describe is how I have it connected now.
For some reason, I don't have the same screen control I have with SBT
connected to LMS.
Since both devices sit next to each other I thought I just connect via
USB and control everything from the ROON interface.
I suspect you're are correct, USB cannot be used for input.

[SlimDevices: Touch] ROON/ROCK to SBT via USB

Is it possible to connect a NUC running ROON/ROCK directly to my SBT via

Essentially, just using the SBT as a DAC?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] IR sensor ALMOST dead - any cure?

2016-12-24 Thread paltomare

Glad I found this thread.
My Touch stopped responding to IR input a year or so ago.
I assumed it was a dead IR receiver but thought I'd give a new power
supply a try after reading this thread.
Just hooked it up to a new IFI iPower and it worked like a charm.
I admit I had my doubts but I'm very happy to have remote control back.
Hope this helps someone else with this issue.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Simple Operation Advice

2010-12-09 Thread paltomare

Need some advice for setting up a Touch for very basic operation. I
bought one for my mom to stream one or two radio stations, and listen
to her music which I have put on an SD card. I currently have the radio
stations as favorites on MySB.com which play on startup via a harmony
remote macro. Is there a way to have the option to play her local music
from the main Touch screen without having to switch libraries? Would it
work to have .pls files for the streaming stations stored on the SD
card as playlist files along with the music files so she is not
switching libraries. Ideally, the option to choose from a favorite
station and her music from the same home screen is what I am trying to
achieve. Thanks, paul

I think we are talking about two different remote control
manufacturers. Mine is an MX-950 made by Universal Remote Control, Inc.
Their editor software and IR database needs much improvement.

I do use the 950 Editor, I'll give this a try. I have forgotten to

Just placed an order today at 11:53a PST and got both discounts.
I had gone as far as placing one in my cart yesterday at work then
decided to wait to see if my brother wanted one. By the time I got home
the offer expired. When I came back to work today, the discount price
must have been cached in my browser somehow so I placed the order and
it went through, I called them and confirmed it went through.

If it worked for me it might work for others!

They wouldn't offer me a credit for the full price pre-orderd one I
bought though and said the offer expired on 4/13. I still feel it's a
rotten thing to do those who pre-ordered.

I need one more but I think I'll wait this time.

Okay, I see your point. Perhaps if I list my basic requirements you
could offer a better solution.

Min 1.5TB, expandable.
Some form of automatic backup not running through my computer
File access from a Touch.
File access from a video server such as a Popcorn Hour.
Freedom from having to keep my computer running to listen to music.
File access from networked computers.

Thanks John. I am not familiar with Linux commands so mounting the NAS

drive be seen on my network by my computer? If yes, I could drag and

[SlimDevices: Touch] A Touch a Buffalo and a Nano

2009-09-09 Thread paltomare

Been using my faithful SB1-original version at home for many years now
waitng for the Touch to come along.

I have three questions hopefully someone can answer.

First, can the Touch play and display songs directly from an Ipod (mass
storage mode) connected to the Touch's USB port? I suspect the answer is
yes but have not seen this discussed yet.
Second, can the Touch play and display songs from a NAS (Buffalo drive)
connected through a switch to its ethernet port without running SC on a
PC? The advantage to this is that I could burn songs to the Buffalo and
mirror the Buffalo with a PC but not need the PC to play the songs.
Third, will we still need to manually switch between SC and SN or will
the Touch handle playing internet streams and local music more
seamlessly.
Thanks,
Paul
