Maybe I should clarify a bit: I can see various pre-set
styles in custom clock that I can modify; and I understand
all I need to do is to put my string

GENRE: TITLE.Track: TRACKNUMLength: DURATION

into the "titletext" field in any of them (I guess I won't
need album and artist in the title field since they
would be displayed on 2nd and 3rd lines as in the
default Touch screen). The question is: is it
possible to pick the default Touch now-playing screen and modify
*that*,
as opposed to the ones that were created from scratch by others?

Thanks Erland for the detailed info. I am trying to create
a now playing screen which is identical to the default Touch screen
(with the album art on the left, and title, artist, and album in 3
lines on the right), except I want the title line to
display my customized:

GENRE: TITLEPerformer(s): ARTISTAlbumTitle:
ALBUMTrack: TRACKNUMLength: DURATION

Is there an easy way to do this in custom clock applet?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Title formatting in Touch (squeezeplay)

I would like to try the custom clock applet when
I find the time. But at the risk of sounding lazy,
how do I, for example, set the title display to read:

GENRE: TITLEPerformer(s): ARTISTAlbumTitle:
ALBUMTrack: TRACKNUMLength: DURATION

which is what I have it set on my SB3? Can this be done on
the Touch with the custom clock applet?

[SlimDevices: Touch] firmware 8804

2010-05-25 Thread ulvi

just installed the newest firmware and each time i reboot
or start the local music server I get the message
"Local music service has been stopped due to a problem."
I only have a SD card attached to Touch with no music files on it
(only JPGs). So while this is not really a problem for my usage
right now, it wasn't happening with the prior firmwares, and probably
is something that needs a fix. Does anyone else have
the same issue with the latest firmware?

[SlimDevices: Touch] SSH command line

After I login as root with SSH, is there a command
I can issue to start the image viewer?

What else can be done with the command line interface?
Is there any documentation for the /bin and /usr/bin items
and what they do?

OK after a reinstall of the firmware now the
home button (on the remote) is working again after wake up from
the "off" screensaver.

no idea what was (or maybe still is) wrong...

[SlimDevices: Touch] loss of home menu

2010-04-23 Thread ulvi

When Touch is set up with the "screen off" screensaver
when "off", and I turn it off and on again, I loose
the home menu. The screen that comes up is blank
apart from "Current Playlist" displayed in the
title area. It is not possible to go to any other
screen, either with the remote or the touchscreen
interface. The various remote buttons have no effect
other than the volume button which still works.

Strangely, if I load a bunch of tracks from the SBS, they
show up and play fine, but still I can't switch to home
menu.

The only way to fix this is a reboot.

Running the latest Firmware: 7.5.1-r8721

Ah, thank you! I wasn't aware of this; it's more or less what I was
asking for.

I'll try it at some point as I get more familiar with plugins on the
Touch.
It's great to see it under development (along with lots
of other cool plugins, no doubt).

Yes, I am using an SD card right now. I could also attach
a USB drive with all my photos (50GB), or pay for a really
large SD card. It's really a minor quibble,
but I am using wifi to access my music, and don't want a large
and (at least occasionally) noisy HD sitting next to my Touch.
I just thought it would be a simple hack to allow the image
viewer to browse network shares. May be I am wrong about that.

[SlimDevices: Touch] image viewer access to network disk?

2010-04-16 Thread ulvi

As far as I can figure out, Touch's image viewer
cannot access any directories other than on the local
disk (or memory card) attached to the device.
Did anyone discover a way to get around this?

Seeing that the screen looks much better than I thought
it would (actually I am impressed with the overall aesthetic
design of the Touch quite a bit; it's a definite step up
from SB3), I am wondering how hard could it be to give
the image viewer access to any disc on the WiFi network.
Surely not that hard? It would be nice to have it function
as a digital picture frame when not playing music.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch hits Slickdeals - 225$ from Logitech if honored

2010-04-15 Thread ulvi

The confusion may stem from the use of the UK flag
as the icon for English language text on the packaging.
I think using the UK flag to indicate English in a
multi-lingual context is pretty much universal.
It looks like the external box design and text
is identical worldwide. As pointed out, the plug
shape is probably the only thing in the box that's
different for different countries.

How much RAM does Touch have? I have no problems with some >2MB

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Local music service has been stopped due to a problem

2010-04-14 Thread ulvi

This may or may not be practical in your case,
but one way to diagnose the issue is to hook up
your drive to a computer with squeezebox server installed,
and let it scan the same directory of music files. If it fails
there you can then read out from the diagnostics exactly
which file(s) it's having trouble with.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Title formatting in Touch (squeezeplay)

2010-02-18 Thread ulvi

Why is it that the title format in squeezeplay (and, I am assuming,
in Touch) not customizable? I would like to have the same customized
scrolling title formatted as I have in my current squeezebox classic.
Currently on squeezeplay this display appears to have the fixed format
of "TITLE" only (unless I missed something). The other two scrolling
lines on the squeezeplay display are ARTIST and ALBUM, and as fasr as
I can tell, these are also fixed format (why can't I change one of
them to GENRE, for example?)

Are there plans to add this customizability in later?
