[SlimDevices: Touch] Discrete IR codes work for Menu Browse and Menu Search options?

2010-05-19 Thread ziggyb63

Anyone know if the Menu browse \ Menu search discretes are supposed to
work with the Touch? I have used the RMDU file from
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63757 successfully to
get discrete power on\off etc. but the Menu browse\search do not seem
to work with the Touch - they do work fine with my SB3s and more
importantly with my *Boom*.

Sorry for the cross post, thought this would get more visibility than
in the DIY forum...

exteremly simple to use for all tasks, especially things like search
where you can use voice search for songs rather than typing (with
Android 2.1). As per some Droid apps, if you leave it on all the time
it will drain your battery fast...

The variability in reports is interesting. I can play 24/96 -8 flacs
from an external server, wired or wireless, VU meters on without any
problems. Stopping, starting, changing files etc. It works perfectly.
Yet others are having problems with -5 files wired without visualizers.
That should be a BIG difference in CPU usage. That seems point to
something else going on other than just flac decoder.

 John S.

So to me it seems CPU-bound...
When it stutters (analog VUs) top gives me CPU usage (approx values):

72% /usr/bin/jive
10% jive_alsa -d default -c default -b 200
8% jive-alsa -d plughw:2,0 -b 2 -p2
4%[sirq-tasklet/0]
2%[sirq-net-rx/0]
2%[IRQ-57]
2%[IRQ-34]

When it does not stutter, the major difference is in /usr/bin/jive
which goes down to approx 50%

Note in my scenario, when it stutters, it continues to stutter - until
I pause, get rid of the VUs, and restart the track...

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Controller\Touch Hybrid?

2009-09-08 Thread ziggyb63

Hmmm, a shame, as people seem to feel this is not financially viable as
a product offering from Logitech. I could see a product like this
potentially sharing the same codebase as the current Controller (OK,
Controller has a headphone out...), but I get the idea that the main
PCB+screen would make up the majority of the cost.

With Logitech manufacturing a wall mount for this piece of kit, I
assume they are expecting it to be used as a controller-only-type device
- I can't see them wanting people to run analog cable\digital in-wall to
connect to some pre-amp; but the current price point is a bit
prohibitive, at least for me...
