In my (non English speaking)area it is a common term, but I can see
that this could have a complete other meaning in English. Sorry for the

Still it could have the same meaning in English:

Hopefully we can now consentrate on my problem.

and is the Lock indicator going on and off on the RME when you zap?
Also, are you running SBS on the Touch itself or on a PC/Mac?

I just had the same problem when switching between 16bit and 24
bit and to fix it I had the digital relay in my Audio Note DAC
modifier. It seems that most on the new DACs are reducing cost by not
installing a relay that handles high res signal.

should have been there from day 1!

 Nasty!

Are you using the coax / spdif input on the RME? That SHOULD handle
 sample rate switching properly...

However, it sounds like your dac's are not muting properly when lock is
lost. That is very bad - for the reasons you've discovered. All DAC's
should be fitted with a muting circuit (usually couple of transistors -
could be a relay) that prevent any signal output from the DAC when input
 lock is lost.

There's no excuse for this - it's penny-pinching and bad design.

yes, I have tried both coax and optical, but problem is the same. You
could argue that my dac is not muting properly, but the problem is only
with the Touch (not with duet or DVD player) so why drop the sample rate
every time you zap from a 48kHz song to another 48kHz song?

Your DAC is a semi-pro dac not a domestic one so I'm not surprised it
has no muting circuit. However, as you say the problem is only with the
Touch. This means that the Touch may not be correctly outputting digital
silence between tracks...

The modification eliminated the problem. It properly included a muting
relay. Now it handles non standard signal perfectly.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

What is zapping through music? If I were Zapping music my DAC would
probably be having a problem also.

Also how about some more details that might help answer your problem.

What file type are you using? What is the specifics on the files that
are problems, 24/48, 24/96, 16/44.1?
