Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
Thanks to all regarding exhausting explanations. My SB radios won't connect to the LMS on the TOUCH so I either have to use it with mysqueezebox.com as a straight forward radio or try and get it to connect to the USB which neither radio will do. The TOUCH however streams music from the USB stick without problem. It also can access mysqueezebox.com favourites too. So any ideas on why the radios won't connect to the TOUCH LMS when it's clearly up and running. I am damn sure it has worked before. I will happily settle for using my local USB LMS on the touch and the six presets for radio as I know how to do that. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
There is only one LMS onboard the Touch and it should get activated when you plugin an USB drive . If there is no USB drive it is not active afaik ? While the USB drive is connected and Touch is clearly using it you should be able to go to my music on the radio and it should connect if you have multiple severs running you should have an option to pick one of them . All players are really on the same network ? Not some adhoc arrangement where you in reality has two separate network ? It can get that way if you use two routers or conscript one as an ap and set it up in a certain way ? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
With a Touch, one has 3 options for a server (something that provides audio stream to the TOUCH so that one may listen to music). 1. mysqueezebox.com (mysb.com) This is Logitech Media Server (LMS) in the cloud (current official version is 7.7.2). That is, with your mysb.com credentials entered in the TOUCH, your Touch can talk to the server at mysb.com. From this, the TOUCH can receive streams with the handshake being made by mysb.com. So you can get services (siriusXM, pandora, spotify, etc.) and internet radio, etc. But you will NOT be able to access your own music files. No local PC or NAS needed here. All one needs is a connection to the internet. 2. LMS running on local PC or NAS. This LMS is the most full featured method of serving your SB players, including TOUCH. With LMS (current official version is 7.7.2). With this installed on a PC or NAS with music files connected on HDD or external HDD, one has all the sources one has from mysb.com PLUS one may play their own music. One does need to enter their mysb.com credentials in the LMS SETTINGS mysqueezebox.com tab. This is because those are still needed to make the handshake with certain services (SiriusXM, pandora, etc.). Also, one needs to select certain plugins to install from LMS SETTINGS PLUGINS. (you may need to check the show all 3rd party plugins to see them all. Here you'll find SiriusXM, Spotify, Triode's 3rd party spotify, MOG, etc. Some of these plugins are related to APPS that one installs at mysqueezebox.com as well. You access the webGUI for LMS by entering the following in your internet browser (from any computer on your network): http://192.168.1.15:9000/ (except change the 192.168.1.15 to the IP address of the computer running LMS. If you are accessing the webGUI on the SAME computer as running LMS, then you can enter: http://localhost:9000/ NOTE: If your mysb.com credentials are entered properly and you never turn off your PC or NAS, you NEVER need to switch to mysb.com. Running LMS on a PC gives you everything you need. 3. TinyLMS running on TOUCH. If one plugs a USB HDD or Card to the TOUCH, this activates the TinyLMS inside the TOUCH. This is a limited version LMS. You can't install plugins (well some can be hacked, but I'm speaking in general). You have no webGUI with TinyLMS. I've never used tinyLMS in my TOUCH players, so I'm not familiar with how it handles things when the HDD is not connected. Maybe it automatically switches to mysb.com. Not sure. No matter what, you should have a mysqueezebox.com account, and you should enter your credentials in both your players (the TOUCH) and in LMS, if running LMS on a PC or NAS. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96873 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
aubuti has done some great work with a good how to to use a free online file server to save stream Favorites accessed via MySB.com. In a nutshell: - create/manage stream Favorites (including folders sub-folders) on LMS running on a computer - copy that LMS Favorites.opml file to your free online file access service (I use FileDen) - copy paste that online file access URL into your MySB Favorites That's it. Of course this is not any help if you have the OP issue of no internet or no MySB.com. But that is really the simplest way to manage an extensive and well organized (folders sub-folders) listing of available URL Favorites. I wish Logitech would allow us to simply place this OPML file directly within our MySB Favorites. It's basically a text file using very little storage. Hundreds of stored streams even using many different folders would be only a minuscule of kb's of storage. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96873 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
Are we sure the OP is not confusing Favorites with Presets? Favorites are universal to all players on the same server. Presets are unique to the player (and unique again to the server + player). toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96873 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Thanks for all the replies. Most helpful. I have set up my favourites on mysqueezebox.com and all devices can see them, however for some reason only the TOUCH can now see My Music (on the USB stick). It does not appear on the menus of the radios and displays it cannot connect to USB when I try. I am sure it's some menu somewhere to use both as the TOUCH does, but the radios do not appear to. [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
Hi I bought a TOUCH and it worked OK once I realised it wasn't simply a plug and play device. I have complained about this previously...but I have added two SB radio devices and although they work, I would like a bit of an explanation from the forum. My music is on a USB disk plugged into the TOUCH. the TOUCH and radios can access this without issue. All are on a fixed IP as a previous post explained to to do this. I assume (maybe wrongly) that the LMS runs on the TOUCH and the radios link into this. What has mysqueezebox.com got to do with this set up? Last night I lost all my Internet radio stations for no particular reason and had to re-enter them by hand following a total system reboot. All OK at the moment. Is there anyway of setting my favourites (from exclusively radio stations across the globe) and say doing it on the TOUCH and duplicating it across all connected devices i.e my two radios without having to do it on individual radios? Can I back up my favourite radio settings somewhere and re-install them following a system reset to the TOUCH and my radios? Waldo Pepper wrote: I assume (maybe wrongly) that the LMS runs on the TOUCH and the radios link into this. Your assumption is correct. The Touch runs a version of LMS that has certain options switched off, such as web interface, support for plugins, support for really old SB hardware like SliMP3, etc. Waldo Pepper wrote: What has mysqueezebox.com got to do with this set up? Nothing so far as long as you're listening to local music. Waldo Pepper wrote: Last night I lost all my Internet radio stations for no particular reason and had to re-enter them by hand following a total system reboot. All OK at the moment. Is there anyway of setting my favourites (from exclusively radio stations across the globe) and say doing it on the TOUCH and duplicating it across all connected devices i.e my two radios without having to do it on individual radios? If you save your those stations as Favorites from any of the devices (Touch or either of the Radios), then it should be stored in the favorites.opml file on the Touch (I forget the exact location), and easily accessible via the Favorites menu item on any of the devices. You are actually storing them on your LMS server, which happens to be the Touch's built-in LMS server (aka TinyLMS, TinySBS, TinySC). Waldo Pepper wrote: Can I back up my favourite radio settings somewhere and re-install them following a system reset to the TOUCH and my radios? You would need to activate Remote Login on the Touch, and then go in there via a program like Putty or WinSCP and copy the favorites.opml file to someplace else. Then if your Favorites get wiped out somehow you can restore it from this backup copy. Note that there are two places where your Favorites can be saved, either your local LMS server (including TinyLMS) or mysb.com. They do _not_ automatically sync. In fact, they don't really sync at all, although you can access the mysb.com favorites from your LMS favorites list, but not vice versa. EDIT: Is it possible that when you lost all of your internet radio stations you were really looking in the wrong place (that is, looking at mysb.com when they're stored locally, or the other way around)? aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96873 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
One simple approach is to enter all your favorites at mysqueezebox.com (enter URLs for favorites, or simply connect player to mysb.com as source, navigate to your favorites, then save). So when done, all your favorites are at mysqueezebox.com. Then even when you are connected instead to a local LMS (either running on a local PC or tinyLMS running on your TOUCH), you can navigate to favorites, and you should see a listing at the bottom of your favorites an item called something like on mysqueezebox.com. Clicking on this favorite will show you all the favorites you've stored on mysb.com and you can play them. Of course, if you add new favorites while connected to LMS, they will NOT be also on mysb.com. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96873 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Yes, they are available on all devices _that_are_connected_to_the_local_LMS_, which in this case is the Touch. But the faves on mysb.com are the only ones globally available because you can get at them whether connected to LMS (as garym describes) or to mysb.
