Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Loss of clock - standalone, no internet
I was able to borrow a neighbor's wireless internet connection. Initially the connection was quite weak - 5 to 8 percent according to the Touch. No luck with the clock. Later on, the signal strength had improved to 15 percent, and the clock screen-savers were again functional. -- R Johnson R Johnson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36462 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77523 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] Loss of clock - standalone, no internet
My SB Touch arrived at the office yesterday. It fired up nicely with a wired connection to my router and downloaded the current firmware. I inserted an 8GB SDHC card with music content. Worked very nicely. Then I removed the ethernet connection and ran it standalone with an analog connection to my office mini-system. I liked the nice digital clock in off mode. It was automatically set to the right time! I pulled the SD card to see what new cache files had been created. Then put the SD card back. I unplugged the Touch and brought it to my apartment, where I have no internet service (apart from possibly sponging from a neighbor's wireless network). Surprisingly, it took a little fooling around to get the Touch going. But there's no more digital clock. I tried selecting the various clock screen-savers for the stopped or off cases. No joy. Sometime a sample clock would come up, but not showing the correct time or date. Very curious. User error or system/hardware design? -- R Johnson R Johnson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36462 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77523 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

A few of us have had the same problem. Not much help to you,but mine started working of it's own accord.Others have said it works fine with the ethernet cable plugged in. -- Ali Tait Ali Tait's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77523 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I don't think it has a built-in hardware clock with a backup battery, so it needs some time server on the network after you have pulled the mains plug. -- usch usch's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33389 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77523 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
